Peter Gabriel's classic "Solsbury Hill" one of my all-time favorite songs. It's got a lot of beautiful chord changes and guitar work. Definitely tough to play and sing at the same time!
I do not own this song.
This song has pulled be out of some very difficult times in my life, so it's lyrics and music have a resounding affect on my psychy...Home...back Home...
Very nice! Just coming up in my feed five years late! A favorite from way back when. Such a great song...thanks for helping keep it alive. You have a nice voice.
Haha never too late! I love this song - thank you
Wow! On a 12 string. I'm really impressed. Never missed a beat.
Pssssst.... I found you on here while looking for acoustic versions of solsbury hill lol. Ian, my dude, this is surely the highlight of my day.
Haha - my man! That's so funny, definitely one of my favorite songs to play. I'm glad this actually pops up in random feeds like that, let's jam soon!
That sounds good bro. I haven’t been to your new place yet, so let’s make time. I just bought a house in Bally. It’s got an extra room I’m trying to turn into a studio/study. It’s really just the music room for now. I’ll hit you up tho.. maybe we can get together here or over ur spot.

Spectacular!
You pulled off this cover extremely well! Peter Gabriel would be proud.
Thanks David, it is much appreciated! One of my favorite songs of all time
Bloody hell, man. You SMASHED this!
I bought my first 12 string in about 1964, learned from the Pete Seeger 12 string guitar instruction record and book.
I have a cheapo Guild, a fab Seagull Walnut Isyst and a very old Seagull S12 Cedar.
King of guitars!
Thank you very much!
You don't know how dificult is to play a 12 string till you have one.I know what I'm talking about and you did an incredible stuff here!
Thank you for appreciating that! It's very tough, I definitely don't always get it right with each pluck, but I do my best to keep it accurate. My fingerpicking could be a lot better - I suck at Travis picking
@@ia5662 I have an old vídeo playing Kathy's Song with my 12 Epiphone, and it's not easy, I know!
Oh boy....GOOD JOB. BRAVO!
Oh man! that was a fantastic rendition of a magical songs. Especially with a lovely 12 string guitar arrangement fit the song perfectly. I love that songs it takes places in my mind that I want to be. I've always wanted to play that song. It's the best Peter Gabriel song ever. Thank you from Gary of Tassie/Australia.
The Power of Music...
Very nicely done! Thank you for sharing!
Marveleous !
Hey Ian!!! Love this song! Nice finger pickin buddy!
What up Sara!! Thanks so much, we'll have to jam sometime. Your bro showed me an awesome David Gray cover you did and I've been playing it in lots of my sets ever since. Cheers!
Love it...Thanks!
Worthy cover.
Great song and great job playing it on the 12-string guitar! Keep up the good work
Love that sound man, keep it up
Wow. Best cover ever in youtube.
Nice work!
Dude that was awesome!
Excellent cover there my man!
Great job on this one brother! Sounds great on that 12 string!
Very good man!!!
I agree! It certainly ain't easy... Well played and well sung
Fantastic work! Really enjoyed this.
Thanks Ben!
Nice Job
Excellent playing and singing- this is not an easy one.
Awesome...
very good job, man
Nice work. Brilliant actually
Wow...fantastically played and sung and on a 12 string too! You made it look very easy...but I'm certain it's not without a lot of practise.
I can confirm it is very tough, it hurts my fingers more than anything since it's fingerpicked.
Good job!
Excellent playing and singing- this is not an easy one.
Thanks, it's one of my favorite songs to play live, but it is murder on the fingers doing it on a 6 string, let alone a 12! Thank you for noticing the difficulty, I usually switch to a pick at the end of the song, so that relief is always welcome lol
Nice Job
loved it. Ive played 12 string for 30 years. forget the camera, slow it down a little, and show me more of your soul....and who you think Peter is singing to.....
Nice wave behind you.
IKEA!
I think that Studio version was playing on a 12 strings guitar ...
what do you think? Nice cover !!!
It sure sounds like one and Dominic Miller (Sting's guitarist) went out and got a Taylor 12-string just for Solsbury Hill (for the Sting/Peter Gabriel Tour) , but I've seen a live show from the 70s where it's just a 6 string. Sure sounds like a 12 in the studio though.
Very nice version Ian not to hard guitar sounds great on 12 string.I think original track is 12 string. Very good vocals too Peter G.would think so also Im sure Glenn in NY.
Thanks Glenn!
*NICE* playing. Thanks for making the effort to use a 12-string.
Have to man! It's the sound
Try using a thumb pick it may pronounce the base line a little more...My favorite cover of Salisbury Hill...
Honestly, the guitar is just so bright and the camera so compressed, the bass doesn't come through at all. Not to mention Tony Levin's bassline stands alone, if you know anyone who can play like him, let me know so we can do a duo lol this is simply and solely the guitar.
Love the bright sound, it would be Awesome if you had an upright bass player accompinament...Excellent.
Yeah...back home...........
I've got a Fender 12string so i empathize with you its hard enough to play then with a capo, it's that much tougher. But i just realized when you get to the Outro part you have to strum so it wouldn't work well if you did use a thumb pick...I listen to this version over & over...keep the songs coming brother, great job!
Boss but maybe a bit slower
Even with a quartet...it would be Awesomer...lol.
