- I've loved this song ever since I saw Phil Collins as a Muppet in the video when I was a kid!
Here's my acoustic rendition, I still tried to capture the essence of the song, but hey, I only have 1 guitar!

The arrangement is a mix of these notes with extensions. Sry haven't been playing that long but I need to work this song out as its a huge fav of mine and yours is the best cover out there!! This blows everything out the water!

Best I can do is simply say thank you and watch my hands! It's nothing outlandish, just getting the rhythmic picking down and changing some from major to minor like in the beginning. Very simple

Yeah you get what I was saying though, he was most definitely a puppet! Certainly not the kid friendly usual versions, I never had seen this show. I watched the Land Of Confusion all the time and loved how they even got Phil's receding mullet hair right!

i can tell you feel the music. great rhythm and vocals! i love how simple it is to play, especially for me as a bgeinner, i can almost play along, and yet you make so much of it! Only thing i can't quite capture is how you create the little pitch change in the first two bars... i can't see your hand moving from the standard E shape... :/
You actually take the E and make it an Em by removing your first finger from the G-string. That's why it looks exactly the same, but the one note changes everything. Glad you are playing along well!
thanks for the quick answer! Sorry, i didn't make it clear. i mean the pitch change WITHIN the E and Em chords, i got those already. It's hard to explain, but melody wise it's A-E-A-A(an octave higher)-A-E-A, and somehow you get the octave across within the strumming, but i can't do it

Seriously dude, you really should try out for American idol.
Is that in the original key, or did you adjust it to suit your vocals. Most genesis songs are difficult to cover, but you nailed it.
I actually sang this one in the original key, but there are definitely some Phil songs that are hard to sing being that he's a tenor.
@@ia5662 True, Genesis and PC often record songs in guitar unfriendly keys like Db and Bb minor and therefore a little tricky to play with just one guitar.
