I used to live in Bath a lifetime ago. Lovely city. Im now in Tokyo and sometimes think about the morning light and the mist across the valley and of course the cider.
bumped into Steve busking in Bath yesterday and had a chat. Really appreciates his fans and even gave me a little guitar lesson on Solsbury Hill. Lovely chap.
I spent more time watching buskers on Beale St in Memphis than I did in bars listening to paid bands. Buskers are some of the most talented musicians you’ll ever have the pleasure to watch. This guy is fantastic.
Particularly cool to me as a Canadian fan of Peter Gabriel, who only briefly visited the UK once about 50 years ago in my early teens, that this performance is actually happening in Bath, very likely within eyeshot of Solsbury Hill itself, on a clear day.
I mean people are going about their day. I honestly dislike comments like yours which infer we need to stop in our tracks because some guy decided to play in the streets for attention.
@@Ritzi66 Sorry, take a look at the video and you will notice that several of the people walking by and ignoring this admittedly brilliant performer are definitely not of the auto tune/video game generation.
The fact we're here enjoying this is because we know it's good.. Sadly other people seem to fail to recognise this and are more concerned about what colour shoes to buy
what a pity for those people around him have no any idea about what he is singing and how good he sings, i really wish i were there, i must sit down in ground with tears in my eyes to enjoy the performance showing !!!
That is so good!! It amazes me to see the people in the background just going about their business as if nothing is happening. They must be a different species!! Completely brilliant!!
"Watched by empty silhouettes, who close their eyes but still can see" playing out right in front of him as these people around him just largely ignore what is happening in front of them What a great lyric by Gabriel
This song is timeless. It sounds as fresh and relevant today as it did in 1977. Most songs you can tell by listening to them what decade it's from. This song 70's, 80's, 90's, 2000's?? if you didn't know you couldn't tell.
Great indeed....! A sense capture sample of what a guy with just a guitar, tuned voice and talent can do without much sophistication and equipment. Thanks Steve...!
If I ever came across a busker doing what is one top 5 favourite songs ever this dam well then anything I had to do would have to wait, and he'd get something that folds from me :)
Great, natural voice. Well said, fuck all those stupid-ass talent shows, here it is, in real life, with no bullshit studio production, LIKES, or Tweets. Our priorities are so fucked up that we bury talent like this and relegate it to the streets rather than raising it up to the radio charts. I hate the music industry... Steve, you are a GREAT talent.
Steve is a world talent - I've followed him from across the pond on Instagram simply because his voice and skill captivated me from the first notes. I love the you're playing your Martin in this video, Steve! The Takamine sounds great too, but being from Pennsylvania, the Martin is standard issue haha. I own a D-18 from last year and it's the most beautiful sound ever.
If you can find the album Honey Pot by Innes Sibun, this guy is all over that music in a huge way. My very favorite album in the last 20+ years because of the great songwriting, musicianship, and this guy singing. Epic.
Mr. Robinson really does this song justice. It has an uncommon time signature and he absolutely nails it. Unfortunately it appears that the passers by are totally oblivious.
Great song well sung Steve, all this talent busking in the street we got to listen to singers screaming on X' Factor, don't like the people talking in the background just wanted to listen to you Steve bout you did a great job above the noise Nutty Nige xx
We sat at a cafe and happily listened to him for ages. He is phenomenal!!!
My all time favourite busker , he has the most amazing voice , I booked him to play at my husband’s 50 th birthday party, he was amazing.
tell me more did u make any videos
I used to live in Bath a lifetime ago. Lovely city. Im now in Tokyo and sometimes think about the morning light and the mist across the valley and of course the cider.
What a lovely voice he has.
It always amazes me that folks can be so blind to the genius standing in front of them. Thank God that the genius doesn't need the blind to be seen:-)
Excellent street performance. He captures the essence of this beautiful Gabriel piece.
It seems he's being practicing this tune since 1977... Perfect cover.

My God. This was simply beautiful.
I've seen this guy many times over 30 years, can't believe I can watch him on here, fantastic voice😁
He's amazing. Great performance 👏
It became obvious right after the first few strums on that guitar that it would be worth watching.
And then he started singing...
I thought exactly that!
This is a tricky song to play. It's in 7/4, the lyrics are pure genius. And the guy is singing and playing beautifully, only to largely ignored.
I mean people are going about their day. I honestly dislike comments like yours which infer we need to stop in our tracks because some guy decided to play in the streets for attention.
Unless your singing with Autotune and repeat the same line over and over and sound like a child no one under 35 listens .. they’re staring at phones
@@thefives7ar of course .. you’re offended .. lol
@@Ritzi66 Sorry, take a look at the video and you will notice that several of the people walking by and ignoring this admittedly brilliant performer are definitely not of the auto tune/video game generation.
@@Ritzi66 an all older people listen to is generic songs like this where once you’ve heard one, you’ve heard them all
I've seen this guy many times and for me he is the best I've ever heard with sting a close second best
Love this.. talent at it's best.. makes it look easy.. fantastic

Great voice! Awesome song--not easy to do well. Love this.
Stunning, this man is a great artist.
This guy is awesome !! Many thanks from USA :)
For those that do not know, busking is a very well respected form of performance. If you enjoy, tip. That easy.
what country is this in?
This guy is the consumate troubador! And people are just walking by or standing around yapping like nothing's happening.
I agree. People nearby are annoying
The fact we're here enjoying this is because we know it's good.. Sadly other people seem to fail to recognise this and are more concerned about what colour shoes to buy

Saw him yesterday in Bath! Top talent!!

I just love this beyond my feeble explanation as to why
"Watched by empty silhouettes, who close their eyes but still can see" playing out right in front of him as these people around him just largely ignore what is happening in front of them What a great lyric by Gabriel
Beautiful rendition...very well done.
Bought two of his CD's - Excellent

Steve is awesome. What a great rendition of this classic
Wonderfully sung and wonderful words by Peter Gabriel. I had to take my son home after a traumatic time in his life
Steve rocked that song. I know Peter seen this.

Excellent and far better than most of the wannabes on UA-cam.
Loved it.
Seen Steve today playing Fall at your feet, brilliant voice and playing, everything just seemed so right with his performance.
Inspirational! Gosh, what a presence and performer.

Обажаю уличных музыкантов...бывает такие таланты встречаются ушам не веришь.
Estupendo, Magnífico!!!

My god his voice is incredible ❤️
I think these people would pass by Peter Gabriel singing without recognizing him either.
My town is bereft of such jollity.
Best cover I have heard in a long time. I agree I would be grabbing someone and dancing. They all seem like they are in the twilight zone!
Dear Steven,
you are amazing, love your voice, desperately seeking for you.
Great Regards
Eva
One word “Beautiful”
Don't get the chance to see you live on the streets of Bath. Thanks for being on You Tube, Steve, would have hated to have missed you!
Beau Jones is smiling down at you -- what a perfect expression of this song!
A lot of people don't have an ear for music...this would stop me in my tracks straight away. I think he's great.
Brilliant!
He's the best I've ever heard....
he always sings it better than the originals haha

Some of his chord selections are a bit off, but not enough to count. I am truly impressed.
Great version of this classic!
