Just so everyone knows. I filled out the info on getting the crusher. The owner David called me back within an hour. I baught the same as Jeffs, but ill build my own stand, and put my own engine on. Big price reduction because of Jeff Williams. THANK YOU JEFF.

Hey Jeff, I just LOVE that video! There are so many abandoned mine exploration videos out there, but these are usually "ok there's a tunnel here, there's a tunnel there". You, on the other hand, explain the geology, the contact zone, how they tried to find the main vein, etc. That's what makes your videos so much more interesting, I'd love to see more of that kind!
I love it when you show us the geologic details of these mines.
I bet I could pan Jeff's shower drain and get a good haul of fines.

Man, you guys got it easy out there in the southwest. Over here in the southern Appalachia everything is covered in feet of topsoil, leaves, roots, etc. And it's hard to see the rock unless you are on a bank or hill or have a massive outcrop. You can see everything out there. But oooooo, I don't like tarantulas though. Wooooo, make me squeal like a little girl. Hahaha. I hate spiders. Now we got spiders, but no tyranchurellas...

JEFF and SLIM , way cool video I always wondered what it was like down those deep looking broken ladder holes spooks and all ( I think that was my old sixth grade teacher ) years back I picked up a like new 5 in chipmunk jaw crusher it has about a two foot three belt flywheel and you can adjust the jaws from corse to fine ,the old timer I got it from said he got it years ago and never set it up he told me if I could lift it and put it in my pickup truck I could have it for $ 50.00 bucks ,being an old country boy ( more brawn than brain ) and three grunts later I had me a crusher. Wow Jeff...as I thumb through the links, I realize that I can start "Prospecting" for gold for about $150. I am starting to look at the geo maps...I live in Apple Valley, CA...there is a lot of geo activity around here. Not much water, but I am a resourceful man. I can fabricate most of the equipment that I see on these sites...even if I have to make them out of wood...and old buckets and stuff. I truly enjoy your program. If I find something that I can't handle myself...I will call you! God bless and godspeed, my friend.

There is an old ghost town in the woods by where I grew up. It was a coal mining town called Franklin. There is an old cemetery from the late 1800's. One of the tombstones has the names of 4 men who all died in the same mine disaster. If I ever get back there I'll send you a photo.

My grandfather was a miner, he was 5'8" and worked in a 5'5" tall shaft for 40 years. One thing he told me was watch out for black damp!!!
must have been a coal mine as Black damp along with white damp and fire damp ( methane gas ) and stinkdamp ( Hydrogen Sulfide ) are very predominant in them....

You are right!! He mined in Black Diamond wa. My great grandfather was squished by a big chunk of coal that fell out of the ceiling and rolled down a steep slope over the top of him. I became a farmer,. I just started watching your videos and I have learned more about mining watching them then reading geology books for 30 years! Well done!

Very informative, that rock crusher works well but I would wear a dust mask until you get the dust in the water, protect your lungs
that looks little more challenging to build , probably simple in design , expensive tools to be a superior miner
a lot easier to just buy one. They sell them in kit form really cheap.
I looked and looked, but didn't see a "little musky" in that mine. What would a FISH be doing awayyyy down in there anyway WOOOO HOOOO!!

those jumar accenders work great.is is 30% farmex the norm in blasting,i never used it in a mine but it worked great on beaver dams
not in underground mining.
