I like the reason to Get out and little to heavy exploration out in nature with the family to. The wilderness makes for great photography opportunities as well.
Ps. Thank you sincerely for taking time out of your life to make these videos for all of us to watch! I've been hooked since the first I saw, and I wasn't even searching for gold prospecting! Yours was just a video on my recommended to watch list! I am very happy that I decided to watch!!! Thank you again, Jeff! Chris
Thanks Chris we really enjoy making them and if people want to watch we will keep making them. Glad you got the fever but I have to warn you. Once you find your first piece of Gold it will be Gold fever forever. Thanks again for the great comments. Jeff
Zen Jon If he did that it would ruin everything...! All they want is a bunch of drama to get their ratings up and if there is none going on, then they will make stuff up...! If you watch any interviews with guys from some of their past shows will all tell you this. Many have left these shows due to the producers not caring if things are accurate and true...!
LOL. I did that once with an acetylene torch and I can 100,000% confirm the gold will evaporate into thin air. Luckily it was only a 2gm'er or so I was messing with.
I wanted to see how to prospect for gold in NC. I viewed a few other videos of prospecting, but nothing beats yours Jeff. I am hooked to watching yours. I loved the education of the rocks and how to sell your gold. Fun and educational. Kids would love you to teach them. Happy prospecting! So lets go!
After watching a dozen of your videos, I've concluded that you are a raving lunatic. However, as you also have some of the best gold prospecting information on UA-cam, I'm willing to overlook your eccentric nature - in fact, it adds flavor to your presentation. I've learned more from your outrageous videos than from dozens of others. I confess I haven't learned much from your sidekick, Slim.
Very helpful information. Bout 4 years back I was retrieving gold from computer chips and boards. I went through the aqua regia process and ended up with that yellow powder. While I was melting it down and seeing a button, so exciting, I was saying to myself stop, but know I was thinking, I wanted to make sure the button would become purer, then it disappeared, Damn wereditgo :( . It evaporated, dang I was using my acetylene torch. Major bummer, all that work gone, chuckle.
On the internet, go to Gold Gram Price Calculator. It will calculate carats % of weight. Remember, nuggets will bring a premium to be made into jewelry. Sometimes, 2 to 3 times spot depending on the nugget.
As usual good . You to placer mine up in Co. and had a jeweler that always paid me 110% for over 10 and the price went up the bigger. He also always bought my Colorado rubies (garnets) so my wife would pick them out after we recovered the Au out of the concentrates. Great job Jeff.
When I used to live on the east coast,my older brother would use mercury on copper plates to catch the gold with. His version of extracting the gold from the mercury was the use of nitric acid.Warning on mercury,it is the mad hatter's thing you get for handling it by hand(without gloves).I mostly sold my gold through the refineries
My favorite channel on youtube. Ive learned so much from Jeff. thank you for the funny and informative videos. I can't wait to get out and find some of that shiny.
Hi Strom Huber, I wish I had a gold nugget for every time I get asked that. Sure we can do a video on that but it may take a while to round up all the nuggets. Jeff
Hopfully I will be going to get started again come spring, can't wait. Thanks for the sellin tips, good to know..and makin the buttons ! Watch out Slim was reachin for one of those buttons for his coat behind your back !!
Thank you! I am going to Alaska in July for 5 days to hunt for Gold . The information you give is priceless. I feel well equipped thanks to you. Thanks again!🤗
Me and my mom were playing poker once and I've never played poker at that time and my mom has played poker a lot of time's and I won almost all the rounds.
Great video ....I'm a newbe myself , just getting started here in North Georgia , I live near the place of the first gold rush in Georgia and maybe the US . Villa Rica ........ Thanks again
***** Yep... most of the gold around here is placer found in most all streams around the area ...... I have also looked up where most of the old mines are around here and am looking around them ......Thanks for all the good videos
Thanks for the laughs! I gotta pay more attention to Slim since he has the bigger nuggets! It's a good practice to dry gold outside so there is plenty of ventilation in case there is mercury present. Kurt
HES GOOOOLD! Love this guy mix of all the best spice in life. Jeff I am a prospective prospector out of Alberta Canada I have to say your the best motivation and information on UA-cam. 🍀
I think I can say for all of us Thank you For teaching us so many things from locating to processing and sale You inspire the young to keep prospecting alive And you teach alot of us older prospecter how to do it with more success
always our pleasure Scooter F-Troop....we think it is so important to pass this info on so others can use it. Thanks for the super comments .....always love to read them
Jeff, I’ve been watching several of your videos and I’m glad I saw this one. This video answered the questions I had after watching some of the others. Thanks too for recommending How to melt gold. Valuable and useful information you share in your videos. 💰💯
Hi Jeff, I’m new to prospecting here in So. Oregon. At first, I wasn’t so sure about you....however, after watching a number of your videos and subscribing, I really appreciate your approach by keeping it simple and goofy! It makes me think of the cartoon character, Yosemite Sam :) Thank you and Keep it up!!
I'm not sure where you get your info from. In the several states I have lived in pawn shops pay between 80% and 95% spot metal prices for gold. I think you are confusing the fact that gold of different finenesses will go for different prices. If you are selling one gram of gold and it is 22 karats it will sell for less than if it is 24k. Most gold found in the ground runs 19-22kt, occasionally 23kt. I you bring in a 14 kt orphaned gold earring that weights 6 grams then you have then you have 3.5 grams of gold. So it would have a value of $127 based on yesterday's spot metal prices except it doesn't because metals market prices are based on refined bullion sold in bulk. So you have to have the gold refined to .999. Scrap gold might be worth about 95% spot so that means the that orphaned earring is worth about $115 on the scrap metal's market. Since a pawn shop exists to make money they will offer less but generally about 90% of the actual scrap value or in other words about $103.5. That is what I would pay. If the orphaned ring had been pure gold and already melted down by the seller and poured into an ingot mold then it would be worth $219. Also, natural gold nuggets don't get much more than scrap prices on Ebay. Yes, if you go on Ebay you will see people offering to sell their nugets for twice the scrap metal prices but you can't go by that. I can offer a dog turd for sale at $100 but that doesn't mean anyone will pay that much for it. You can only go by what buyers are paying for the nuggets. I tracked this for six months last year and found that natural gold nuggets actually sell for about 1% more than scrap gold of the same fineness. That means that a one gram nugget will probably sell for about 35 cents more than one gram of scrap gold of the same fineness. Gold sells for more if you make it into something. When I get a piece of scrap gold I try to make it into something that can be worn. That will increase the value dramatically. For example, I would take that orphan earring and add a loop of gold to it and sell it as a charm and that will add 25% - 50% or more value to it when sold. I can't tell you how many orphaned earrings I turned into pendants and doubled my money. With a couple of hundred dollars in equipment you can turn a few grams of gold nuggets into a gold ring and sell it on Ebay and add value. It takes little to melt a nugget and pour it into a mold.
Been years since you made this video but still love it. Is Doc still buying gold today? Been trying to catch up in all your video’s I’ve missed and reviewing others over and over. Such awesome content. Thanks Jeff & Slim P.S Slim outta be getting up there is age I would think? Haha 🤔🤣🤣🤣
Another awesome episode from the "Adventures of Jeff and Slim"! Make sure ya don't forget to buy Slim a couple Cubans for all his hard work... A cheeseburger too. He's looking kinda hungry.
Nice 1 again Jeff iv never gone panning or found any natural gold I would love to but not much hope hear in the uk so I just buy nuggets it easer lol. Any way love your videos so funny and at the same time interesting keep them going. All the best rob from England
Honestly its on my bucket list to make my own gold and silver bars someday. This is just another step in that direction. If your ever going to do a video on that please let me know because I'm interested.
Hi Jeff, another great video and thanks for all the information on how to sell your gold. Maybe you could have a gold show following gold fever on the outdoor channel that would be great. Thanks again Tom
The more video as I watch the more of my questions get answered. I have no idea how you would sell your bulk flower and nuggets. I can see how you might sell your buttons but they would also need to be refined even further so I wonder what the percentage ratio you can get. I can know what a 1 oz of refined gold is what is a wholesale unrefined bulk price. You probably answer it here in this video.
Thanks Bob actually we were out mining more Gold but I do sometimes give tours at one of the local mines here. ( happen to know the owner ) . Thanks for the compliments too. Jeff
im just going to start this activity with my wife and daughter this sunday i just get a metal detector and try some luck at lake mead n nevada see what happen btw i like ur videos
mike auld they are great to use if you need to know what is in your hard rock samples or the purity of the Gold but not sure if they would buy your Gold from you and what percentage they would offer. Jeff and Slim
is there going to be a video of you getting the gold that went into that 11 gram button? I sure hope so!!! Awesome video, and its always a hoot watching you and slim lol.
Jeff and slim, I've learned allot from your video's. I prospect in Ca. Me. the mid west and N.E.. I like gold hog and Keene equipment but get tired of bringing my equipment coast to coast not to mention the cost. I'm trying to find a place to buy used equipment and am hoping you can refer me to a site. Ebay doesn't seem to carry much. Thanks DiggerDave
+David Tuck Thanks there Digger David, He has some really good mats. The only thing I can tell you is that at the back of ICMJ Journal they have lots of good used equipment and our local prospecting shop Dessert Outfitters has a bulletin board with postings all over it. Jeff and Slim
11.5 grams = 0.405oz x 1278.50USD = 517.80USD Not bad for a day of setting, sluicing, cleaning, panning, straining and melting. But don't forget Uncle Sam gets a piece of that action, especially if you prospected a national park. For safety concerns, I would likely not melt my own gold; I would just pay for that service by forfeiting some profit, so off to goldhog.com to sell. This video was awesome -- thanks for posting, Jeff! Have a Jabba-sized thumbs up! :-D .
Hello I got some gold it more then one bar and I did mt home work on it just one bar it's 439,356.00 so where the best where I can sell it I'm not telling how much I'm getting Ed
Hi Jeff Love your video's (Slim Could do with putting on a little weight) the refiners gives different price for different purity (9-24k) how can you tell the purity, do they test it, if so can you trust them?????
Big Bad Bertie you can do your own testing at home before you send it out . That way you are pretty sure what to expect back. Those refineries are usually good about there numbers. Test kits are cheap and are good for testing purity. Jeff and Slim
Useful info although, I have never seen anyone smelt on the fly like this! Very funny, most are overly careful when smelting. Nice to have options when selling! Thanks
Hey Jeff! It's Chris again, this time with a question for you! After watching EVERY ONE of your videos, I bought a few things. I bought your Super Sluth pan, I know that you love that one and that's why I bought it! Btw, they showed it out of stock at your place desert outfitters, maybe your videos are making lots of sales for them! I also bought a Turbo Pan, how do you like that one? I also bought the Bounty Hunter hardrock pro gold prospecting kit. Any experience good or bad with that setup? Well, keep up your awesome videos! And wish me luck as I start to prospect the Rio Grande and a little mountain stream out here in New Mexico!
Hi Chris , Thanks for the outstanding comments, really like hearing them. As far as the Turbo pan goes I know that Kim Hillier, the inventor, knows what he is doing and the Gold settles to the bottom quick while kicking out the lighter material fast. I thought about getting one but old habits die hard. The Pro Gold kit has everything you need to do a little bedrock sniping and crevicing and all you need now is to be in the right area. Jeff
Thanks Jeff! REAL helpful on this one. Didn't think about the jewelry pay out being better. Mostly since I just get flake...but know I know to collect em! :)
The only thing in this show that needs the discovery channel is slim "He's a walking dead man!" In fact, I wish Jeff would just send his videos directly to me cuz I don't want anybody else getting my gold!!!
redwolf855 why sure. Most of the Gold in that state is Glacial in nature . I would try the Sangamon River , the Vermillion River , the Embarrass River and the Wabash River. Here is a link that will have maps of the Glacial drift and where to look midwestprospector.com/illinois.html
HI Jeff, from Finnark Norway, really enjoy your videos. Did pann with my dad for 10 years from 86 - 96, it was really great. Keep doing what you. Think about this..... There are places here that will give even you goldfever. :D
+fpv.oslo Hi .....how ya doing my friend. Thanks and glad to gear that. Got to love the quality time... huh. don't tell me that cause you know what we will have to do huh........next stop.....Finnark, Norway. Jeff and Slim
hello mr jeff i live in Suriname and am also a small prospector and i get about # one troy ounce every month but the price here is low, i would like to sell my gold abroad for a market price
Hey Jeff, as always a great vid. Hey whats the difference, price wise, with your refined gold and the rough nugget of same size. You said you would get more for the nugget? Just curious whats the largest nugget(s) you have found? Thanks
bima1234ful depending on the size of the nugget you can get 20 to 40 % more for your Gold nuggets so...do NOT ever let anyone tell you different ( Pawn Shop ect. ) 2 1/2 oz nugget. Jeff and Slim
Love the video jeff, i know this was a bit ago but do you have links for the flux and that hand smelt so i can purchase i got a bit if shiby i need to melt to buttons.
The best comic period is with Jeff and Slim!
Jeff is the best Gold Getter on UA-cam
Talk about. A throw back oldie. Fun to see. How far you have come.
Thanks Tony

You've convinced me! Fuck the discovery channel
Nah man, Discover is just for conspiracy theories and shitting on white people. All mainstream media is pretty much just those two subjects now tbh.
either way he needs more recognition...
To slim, smoking is bad for your health. The end!

Graphite

+Ask Jeff Williams thank you for posting the videos you really gave me a good idea on where to mine gold and where to sell it
What was that black powder stuff in mixed in with it?
Ever since pawn Stars came out everybody at a pawn shop register thinks they're Rick Harris but they just end up looking like Chumlee
Hi Jeff
Love your video's (Slim Could do with putting on a little weight) the refiners gives different price for different purity (9-24k)
how can you tell the purity, do they test it, if so can you trust them?????
Big Bad Bertie you can do your own testing at home before you send it out . That way you are pretty sure what to expect back. Those refineries are usually good about there numbers.
Test kits are cheap and are good for testing purity.

Hi Jeff. I know you are a goldguy, but could you maybe make a video on how to find platinum if you know how to? See you.
We do have a mine here that produced it and is a little tricky to get to but we will give it a shot. Jeff
Great energy, buddy! Subscribed
Thanks.
Jeff
You keep me entertained!! Keep up the good work..
Thanks Edward, thats the idea. Jeff
Always learning something new, nice vid again
Thanks. Jeff
Thanks. Jeff
Thanks Jeff! REAL helpful on this one. Didn't think about the jewelry pay out being better. Mostly since I just get flake...but know I know to collect em! :)
Our pleasure there Roy. Jeff
That gold looks like it is going to be worth a lot I found 13 grams of gold at those old buildings I looked at.
Hey Jeff, have you and Slim ever come across any meteorites there in the desert? I hear they're worth big money too!! Love your show
Those places are great if ya need cash quick and don't want to be ripped off. But ppl will pay over spot prices for gold on ebay
The only thing in this show that needs the discovery channel is slim "He's a walking dead man!" In fact, I wish Jeff would just send his videos directly to me cuz I don't want anybody else getting my gold!!!
I love your vids! I live in Illinois will barely any gold. Any tips?
redwolf855 why sure. Most of the Gold in that state is Glacial in nature . I would try the Sangamon River , the Vermillion River , the Embarrass River and the Wabash River.
Here is a link that will have maps of the Glacial drift and where to look

HI Jeff, from Finnark Norway, really enjoy your videos. Did pann with my dad for 10 years from 86 - 96, it was really great. Keep doing what you. Think about this..... There are places here that will give even you goldfever. :D
+fpv.oslo Hi .....how ya doing my friend. Thanks and glad to gear that. Got to love the quality time... huh.

Jeff and Slim
5+4 aces? How many decks are you playing?
So do you have basic rules about digging in the cave? So many feet by so many feet or so deep and then cribbing??
yes
Mate you would have made a awesome teacher 👏👏🖖👏👏🥂
Jeff, Desert outfitters doe not sell Gold Bug 2 ??? ant thoughts on Whites Gold Master ??
hello mr jeff i live in Suriname and am also a small prospector and i get about # one troy ounce
every month but the price here is low, i would like to sell my gold abroad for a market price
Maybe I missed it but why would I only smelt the small stuff? Why not smelt it all and just make one big bar?
because Nuggets are a Premium in the market and command a higher price then spot..the bigger the nugget the more above spot price you will get
Thanks Jeff!
ahhaahahah Jeff and Slim I love the videos! Straight out of Gunsmoke. You could have played that role fabulously.
Jeff and Slim
try ESG in Germany. they pay same day.
yeah but it takes 4 weeks to post it there
Well gold is not something for the quick buck.
Love the video jeff, i know this was a bit ago but do you have links for the flux and that hand smelt so i can purchase i got a bit if shiby i need to melt to buttons.
its Hank Chapman flux and here is the link for it makeyourowngoldbars.com/collections/pre-mixed-fluxes
@@Askjeffwilliams Awesome thank you buddy.
so you have to have a business license to send your gold to ARA? cause their faq page says they dont buy from the general public.
+Colt Walker yes I know ....you can thank the NDAA for that. They put it in there when no one was looking.
Jeff and Slim
+Ask Jeff Williams thanks Jeff and slim. you guys are great.
