I agree with this 100%. Luckily, on the Steam version is a bit better on the freezing and disconnecting at least. But, this is the first RF that I do not think they made a bunch of great advances over the previous one. RF4 is still my favorite one.
Yeh it was a shame. I hope they make the next entry much better, because this one was did not sit well. Rf4 is also my fav one so far, I had a lot of fun there.
@@mickbotcast I don't regret owning it, at the end is a game I wanted to play. And at the end my biggest issue was related to the many "blunt" cuts the devs made to the final product.
I actually bought a Nintendo Switch for the sake of this game and ended up not buying the game at all after reading about the performance issues (ended up using it as primarily BOTW/TOTK machine). Really sad, since I really want this franchise to succeed and I love RF 3 and 4.
Yeah it was a shame. I also wanted it to succeed because their games have interesting ideas. Let's hope they improve those details in following entries.
In watching this video, I like how EVERYONE forgets Rune Factory - Tides of Destiny was a thing, which was a 3D game for the PS3 / Wii. Then again this game was also made by a new studio, being made by Marvelous/Hakama, were-as all the previous games were Neverland. Hopefully this is just them getting into making these games and they get better from here on out.
It is a valid point, that RF had solid 3d for the time. And also the thing that they changed developers. But then again the point applies, if they do not have the skills/resources/time etc to make solid 3d, sometimes is better to stick with a solid idea, unless it was just as a way to experiment and try, to then polish XD
Rune Factory was an enormous disappointment to me... after RF4, which was really my intro to the genre of the weird and wonderful combination of farming games / dungeon crawling / relationship sims that I bought when it went on sale, I was expecting something like RF4 but better and with same-sex marriage... well, they added same sex marriage, but that's the only positive thing I can say about the game. I'm pretty sure that I finished the main storyline, but it was so unmemorable that I'm not even 100% sure.
and the saddest thing is.... they had good 3d rune factory game, a long time ago, namely frontiers cuz ToD was a bit... eh. so they KNOW how to make a good 3d RF game - how in the hell THIS even came out like this?.....
I haven't checked the depths of it. But if I remember well RF4 was created by another group and RF5 is other one. So I would not be surprised if they had other team in those games. But yeah, back in the day they had solid 3d, maybe another thing to consider are the limitations of the switch itself or the kind of gimmicky to program there. IDK, just throwing thoughts. XD
long term fan of RF series since 1. played 1 2 3 4, loved all of them. but 5 is where I draw the line. 5 is trash, from character to combat to graphics to bugs, and the newly announced ones share the same terrible design. 5 is the death of an amazing franchise.
Let's hope they don't kill it XD But yeh, looking at the trailers... And well, seems like they are going to have another kinda empty game. It is a shame.

I've RF4 on my NSW so I bought 5 too,
now I feel only regret not buying it for Stream after I realize they're overall better on PC

I'm sure I'll remember a bit of it XD but if I still compare it with RF4 Aah, well there is not too much I can say.
