Honestly, for being the first boss in the game, the Nine-Tailed Fox is freaking OP once you tame it. I took mine from the start of the game all the way to the end of the post-game dungeon, and it was well worth keeping the thing around the entire time.
Well, I can still understand why some bosses can't be tamed. Such as the Kraken, since it's literally unable to exit the water. The Nine-Tailed Fox is freaking OP once you actually tame it though. Mine remained useful all the way through the game, and even all the way through the post-game dungeon!
I use boss monsters as sort of overseers of my barns: barn with cows, chickens and woolies get Aries; barn with bugs, spiders and bees gets Arachne; Kyubi goes to barn with wolves, shrooms and flowers. And I'm making one with birds and probably get Shoebert for that one.
A tip for 9:00 and 11:00 - if you save the game and reload, the stock in Hina's and Heinz's stores changes. So I save up all my in-game currency for the days when I know they'll be minding their shops, and save/load spam the game, trying to see if they're carrying anything I'm looking for, but having trouble getting ahold of. If so, I buy as much as I need/can afford, save, and reload again. I do this repeatedly until I run out of money, their shops close, or I just get tired of it. This method is really helpful for stocking up on those rarer drops. That said, it IS randomized, so there's no guarantee they'll stock anything specific. However, I have occasionally had Heinz offer for sale items I haven't even shipped yet, so that's not necessarily a requirement for what he stocks.
I tamed a nine tailed fox (and expected nothing) but it gave me one of her bells one day and it never gave me another the following days. I was definitely surprised! It was a rare opportunity. Thank you for this video! I’ve only just started playing the game and I think I’m already halfway through.
I just tamed my first boss, and for what it is worth it counted for the "tame a producer monster" quest. I don't know if they actually WILL drop materials, but the game seems to think they should.
Interesting! Maybe they just have a ridiculously low chance to drop items? I keep looking in my barn full of bosses I haven't gotten a single thing yet.

Hey Josh! I was wondering if you could do a video talking about the mechanics for taming monsters (quickly building friendship), planting seeds (I honestly couldn't find anywhere that said that they had to be level 8 to plant seeds until I finally got one to level 8), raising friendship quickly, their schedule when helping out, and how to get them to chop stuff down on your farm?? I feel like this stuff isn't covered very well in the game and it's hard to figure out on your own.
Ha, funny tempura works for nine-tailed fox. Misasagi mentions that she loves tempura, so it makes sense her beastly form (or the monster based on it) would, too. I just tamed Cerberus for the Murokumo task. I highly recommend to people who don't want to waste items on duplicate bosses to wait to tame a boss until that request comes up, since, uh... pre-taming doesn't work. I learned that the hard way by taming a nine-tailed fox a few days before that task showed up. Thanks for the guide! This'll help me get the 50 monsters needed for that one task. Now I just need to build up enough barn space for them all...

Took me 6 bells to tame the first boss. I had to tame Cerberus for quest I used mixature of cake and cheesecake. In RF4 I never gotten round to tame any bosses . Thanks for boss guide and fishing locations. I never know where to look for specific fishes.

Shoebert is proving to be very difficult to tame. I have Melody Bottles, I brush him till the musical notes stop appearing, and he just gobbles them up. I have space in my barns...i guess I'm just getting really bad luck since I know that's involved when it comes to taming these bosses.
Glad to hear you're feeling better. Must have been a doosey, cause you're still audibly very congested. I kept forgetting Hekatonkeile's name. (Which apparently must be different in English.) I always just called him "Protein Fisticuffs" since you can tame him with stackable 'The Protein'. With all these cool tamable bosses, it's a shame monster followers aren't more useful in this game. Sick Kirby reference, brah. I definitely want to get back to Forgotten Land when I'm done with my current project. Also-from my testing-I believe that brushing is a complete placebo in both RF4 and RF5. When repeating and timing monster taming, on average I would tame them much faster without brushing.
Where in game can you learn what item a boss monster will accept in order to be tamed? If it weren't for the quest telling you what the Fox/Cerberus wants, I'd never have tamed a boss monster. And that was just two of the tameable boss monsters. I mean, I do appreciate getting the answers here, but did I miss somewhere in game I could've learned this? Other than trial and error wasting items going, "Do ya want this? No? What about this? No? Well what about etc. etc."
Late reply, but as far as I can tell, no. There weren't any in rf4 either, but in this game there's already a seed crest that gives you information on wanted monsters, so I don't know why they didn't just tack on boss taming to that....
Ok important question. I just found out about the Reincarnation boss which is one of the Giant snake bosses that are not tamable however this one is listed as Tamable is that true that it is tamable? Like it is the last one of the maze

Hey josh. I follow your tutorial to get the tree seed. But theres nothing, not even press 'a' button. Is there some condition?? Im in scarlet fainted story, had 2 dragon, and already upgrade grocery store 3x
If your ally has a treasure icon next to their image, there is a hidden item there you can grab. You need to wait for this to appear. Sometimes they just might not be close enough to the tree. But it is not guaranteed there will be something there. I don't know at what point the game decides if there is a hidden item there or what it is, but if its like RF4, its determined at the start of each day. It can decide something will be there or nothing will be there. However, I know sometimes with RF4 it could decide something would be there, but not have it actually spawn. In that case, and to spawn a new one after you picked it up, you could reset the map, like by reloading a save or moving between maps, and it would spawn one in. I know it works similar here, as it happened for a random Onigiri hidden item for me once (it was outside the Silo, so just entering and exiting the building kept respawning it), but I don't know for certain if it will eventually make an item appear where you haven't found one yet. To easily get one, save before you sleep, grab a monster or villager ally, run and check. If there's nothing there, reload the save, sleep, and try again. Or wait and just check every day as you do other stuff. With 2 spots tree seeds can spawn, you should get what you need sooner rather than later.
I'm just not very far yet in the English version, I only just finished the second dungeon! I'm planning to make more tips videos using that one but I need to make some more progress first.

I Brush them and give them either pickeled turnip or turnip seeds. Higher level items have a higher success in my experience. I also like to save before taming in case it's an absolute failure.
So I tried to get the recolor of the iguana...wouldn't let me...now I'm trying to get the tree and the same skull thing is happening. I'm currently in the story part where I'm in the lightning area....anyone know why I can't capture anything? I have room in my barns I'm 100% sure
Hmm... it could be that your taming skill is too low, I think. What level is your skill at? Otherwise I would have said your barns might be full but if you say it's not that and you're giving the correct items, it might be your skill lv.
@@JoshGamingGarden I dunno. I turned around and tried to get the tree and it wouldn't let me. So I turned off the game restarted it and got the tree. So I'm gonna now try again to get the recolor of the iguana, if I'm not mistaken the tree is after the iguana. It was the weirdest thing lol.
If its like RF4, its quite likely you did finish it with only one month of in game time. If you know what you're doing and do each dungeon as soon as its available, it really wouldn't take that long. I know in RF4 I could get to the start of Act 3 before Summer even started (never was skilled enough to finish Rune Prana that quickly though). From what I've seen, there isn't a 3rd act for this game, unless its another random chance that can take ages and the game just hasn't been out long enough for anyone to properly document it, though since RF4S fixed that issue I doubt they would do it that way again.
Okay can anyone explain why my nine tails isn't respawning? This is my first factory game so I didn't know until after I killed it. If I beat the game(main story) will she come back?

Okay so update she's back!!! And I guess wind edge is a little much her lol. But I figured out the issue; SPOILERS During Beatrice's second romance side quest, Beatrice goes to the WW to find 🍓. The event scene is triggered in the first area of the WW and then takes you to the depths to fight a 👻. It's most likely scripted in the code that the Nine tails fox won't spawn in until that event is triggered. Lol
Yes, I meant they won't drop daily items in your barn like some monsters do. 😅 Sorry for the confusion. Of course they'll still drop items as usual if you defeat them!

OS game-changing alright I actually run across the village way faster than I was doing and we talkin about I was waiting for the wolf or the hunter wolf sorry run-on sentence had to do this on the Run
You can only do 10 gifts per go, make sure you aren't wasting them. And you have to have killed it once already. And make sure you have space in your barn. All of those will guarantee failing. Beyond that, its random chance and very low odds. The higher your Taming skill or your Love skill, the better the odds, so maybe try grinding those? Brushing also improves the odds further, so if you aren't doing that, it can help. Otherwise just gotta keep resetting and trying over and over.
@@Kahadi ok I got her. So I made sure to save before I just brush her few times till the notes turn red few times give her few horns (usually 3-4) if she still isn't tamed keep brushing until her musical note on head turn red again and repeat process and that how I got her
God i wanna buy this game so bad...but the fps on the switch looks so annoying. Hopefully they'll drop a steam version like they did for Rune Factory 4 Special.

Loving the boss monster designs. Unfortunate that you cannot tame them all. Would have loved to have Basilisk and Leviathan if they weren't untamable.
I also really wish we could tame leviathan, it's one of my favorite boss designs! 😭

Pro tip for Rigbarth Maze: when changing floors the game autosaves, so if you fail to tame you can just reload the autosave.

You can tame Hecatonchire with the protein.You farm the protein from wanted monster quest.
I tamed him yesterday using the protein too

*looks at boss list* ohhhh... I am not as far into the game as I thought I was.... There's 11 bosses on there I don't recognize.
Keep in mind there's even more bosses but some of them are non-tameable so not on this list!

Personally, I could never tame without Brushing. I think it makes it easier by a small percentage. I think the biggest factor is a high taming skill.

Problem with cerberus is that his lock DOES NOT GO AWAY except during frames when he is invincible

So I tried to get the recolor of the iguana...wouldn't let me...now I'm trying to get the tree and the same skull thing is happening. I'm currently in the story part where I'm in the lightning area....anyone know why I can't capture anything? I have room in my barns I'm 100% sure
Hmm... it could be that your taming skill is too low, I think. What level is your skill at? Otherwise I would have said your barns might be full but if you say it's not that and you're giving the correct items, it might be your skill lv.
@@JoshGamingGarden I dunno. I turned around and tried to get the tree and it wouldn't let me. So I turned off the game restarted it and got the tree. So I'm gonna now try again to get the recolor of the iguana, if I'm not mistaken the tree is after the iguana. It was the weirdest thing lol.

Wow pretty fast how many hours did that take you?
If its like RF4, its quite likely you did finish it with only one month of in game time. If you know what you're doing and do each dungeon as soon as its available, it really wouldn't take that long. I know in RF4 I could get to the start of Act 3 before Summer even started (never was skilled enough to finish Rune Prana that quickly though).
From what I've seen, there isn't a 3rd act for this game, unless its another random chance that can take ages and the game just hasn't been out long enough for anyone to properly document it, though since RF4S fixed that issue I doubt they would do it that way again.

Okay can anyone explain why my nine tails isn't respawning? This is my first factory game so I didn't know until after I killed it. If I beat the game(main story) will she come back?
She should spawn once a day! If you kill her she won't respawn on the same day but she should be back on the next.
@@JoshGamingGarden Ugh I hate when games break on me. Cause I believe you, but no joke when I warp to the WW depths she's not there, and then I warp back home, sleep, warp back and she's still not there.

Okay so update she's back!!! And I guess wind edge is a little much her lol. But I figured out the issue;
SPOILERS
During Beatrice's second romance side quest, Beatrice goes to the WW to find 🍓. The event scene is triggered in the first area of the WW and then takes you to the depths to fight a 👻. It's most likely scripted in the code that the Nine tails fox won't spawn in until that event is triggered. Lol

Even if you tame a boss it will continue to drop items! I go daily to defeat bosses and still get them on occasion
Yes, I meant they won't drop daily items in your barn like some monsters do. 😅 Sorry for the confusion. Of course they'll still drop items as usual if you defeat them!

Bruh I've been trying to give Medusa all my damn lighting horns for over 3 hours what the hell does this bit$$ want 😠
You can only do 10 gifts per go, make sure you aren't wasting them. And you have to have killed it once already. And make sure you have space in your barn. All of those will guarantee failing.
Beyond that, its random chance and very low odds. The higher your Taming skill or your Love skill, the better the odds, so maybe try grinding those? Brushing also improves the odds further, so if you aren't doing that, it can help. Otherwise just gotta keep resetting and trying over and over.
@@Kahadi ok I got her. So I made sure to save before I just brush her few times till the notes turn red few times give her few horns (usually 3-4) if she still isn't tamed keep brushing until her musical note on head turn red again and repeat process and that how I got her
God i wanna buy this game so bad...but the fps on the switch looks so annoying. Hopefully they'll drop a steam version like they did for Rune Factory 4 Special.
