I’ve served in the Marines, and honestly I don’t think so. You have to be willing to let them change you you know what I mean? Let yourself be clay and be molded, be a sponge and absorb the knowledge. I’ve seen guys who didn’t, for one reason or another they refused to let it take or just straight up couldn’t or wouldn’t handle it. It fucks them up, and then they get fucked up as a result. It might’ve helped AJ, or just made him worse I think
@@KingKhanate1997 For real the service in my country at least provided some kind of disipline but could almost institutionalise you and make it very difficult to function outside of one kind of environment. And it’s not like they try to help you much
@@KingKhanate1997 The Marines is not the same as Military School. JROTC or Military high schools are designed to get troubled teens back on track and to install a sense of order and discipline in their way of life. Character-wise AJ seems to be a normal case and I think he would've done pretty well if he went there.

For all the assholes complaining in the comments about AJ having a panic attack. Tony Soprano had probably at least 10 panic attacks through out the show, yet no one is calling him "weak" over it. Also Tony is acting tough now and wants him to "learn discipline" by sending him to military school. Then in a later season when AJ is actually kind of normal, he tells Tony "I'm going to join the army, I want to learn how to fly helicopters" Tony freaks out and runs to Carmella to try to stop it from happening. So you can kind of see why AJ is so mixed up. He gets mixed signals from his parents all the time.

ImpalaGurl82 I can vouch for that, although I've thankfully only experienced one, it was so sudden (although stress normally makes them more likely), I was angry and in a heated fight with my parents, my mom slapped me across the face (didn't hurt) and my dad was screaming at me, and then suddenly I went from stoic to being weak in the knees, I just managed to catch myself before I collapsed entirely and I just started hyperventilating and sobbing, I was breathing so quickly that my hands and feet went numb. That shit is really serious.
I see AJ's panic attack in this scene less as a form of anxiety (though it's definitely a product of it as it runs in tony's family) and more of a subconscious defence mechanism. He didn't want to go to that institution and his brain wanted to pull every last stop possible to prevent it from happening, so it flipped it's own wildcard and worked.
Your not wrong Liva soprano did the same thing in season 1 to run from tony. Nonetheless it doesn't make it less true AJ has panic attacks like his Father tony and Grandfather Johnny-boy soprano
anyone that didn’t like AJ as a character either ACTUALLY had everything handed to them or found something in AJ that they hate about themself i hate when people say “AJ had everything handed to him” too an extent sure but does it matter? his dad’s a mob boss, his mom obviously favored Meadow, he did horrible in school which definitely dropped self esteem, everyone in his family and everyone he knows is a damn psycho who does he actually have to look up too? AJ is a top 3 character in the sopranos in my opinion, but factually he’s nothing short of a fantastic character
A lot of comments are unfair to AJ: when *he* later tries to join the army and sort himself out, his parents f### it up. See ua-cam.com/video/qkZq0ws8RB8/v-deo.html
It's so amazing and excellent that just like him in 1:05 his son, Micheal Gandolfini has the exact same style in the new Many Saints trailer. I am very sure he will rock the role of young Tony Soprano
One thing I always noticed was AJ's height, his actor is about 5 feet 4 in real life, same as Carmella. Tony is 6 feet tall but they never show them directly standing side by side even in the last season because it shows how much taller Tony really is compared to AJ. Aj's friends all look short as well.

@@operatorblack well there he’s bullying his son lmao that speaks pussy to me, other than that it’s not super obvious but you can definitely see it I never understood people like that two people who act nothing alike but at the same time are so alike shits weird man
Terrible movie
Robert’s performance was brilliant here
He never had the makings of a varsity solider
Who would’ve thought they had such nice uniforms for slip and fall school
Oh, Sgt. Bilko! 😂
Well, it's easy for TONY to laugh!
So funny!
I love how people think he is weak from having a panic attack. Yeah it's a tv show but panic attacks are not funny.
+Malik_Supporter the reason he had a panic attack is why people think he's a weak little spoiled pussy which he is.
They don't think he's weak because he had a panic attack, they think he's weak because he's spoiled little bitchlord who disrespected his parents.
True. Panic attacks can literally happen to everyone. Regardless of person or origin.
tony had panic attacks too, but he was tough in other ways/situations.
"Sgt. Bilko" LOL Tony was borderline sadistic with that
Interesting how AJ failed to enter military school due to panic attacks, yet later on he wants to join the US army
Yeah you're right on especially after a documented suicide attempt and the inpatient treatment, I don't think so. I believe he'd be a disqualifier.
its crazy, its almost as if his character developed and changed or something
@@smileyent.3055"Why can't everybody just get along" says AJ while writing his application to join the US military.
“I’M STANDING FUCKING STRAIGHT!!”
I literally searched up the video just for that line lol.
Robert Iler was underrated as an actor.
This is a great example of fanboys over-analyzing everything. I study psychology and that literally makes no sense lol.
@@PoopyDoopy39 😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@PoopyDoopy39 actually it's an excellent point. Don't be pretentious.
Your not wrong Liva soprano did the same thing in season 1 to run from tony. Nonetheless it doesn't make it less true AJ has panic attacks like his Father tony and Grandfather Johnny-boy soprano
@@PoopyDoopy39 🤓
“Tight suit like that, it shows off your LATS” Vito: *heavy breathing*
I would not wear that shit either.
1:07 Lmfao! Better put on the fucking hat AJ!
lol
Tony: woah Sargent bilko
Camilla: tony
Tony: your right I’m sorry😂😂
Fathers the first to roast u
Why does this scene remind me of the one I see every Christmas where Ralphie has to put on the pink bunny outfit.....AJ looks equally miserable.
Ralphie. No i dont want to put it on. Id be pissed at the auntie
anyone that didn’t like AJ as a character either ACTUALLY had everything handed to them or found something in AJ that they hate about themself i hate when people say “AJ had everything handed to him” too an extent sure but does it matter? his dad’s a mob boss, his mom obviously favored Meadow, he did horrible in school which definitely dropped self esteem, everyone in his family and everyone he knows is a damn psycho who does he actually have to look up too? AJ is a top 3 character in the sopranos in my opinion, but factually he’s nothing short of a fantastic character
Tony: "Imagine, needing an operation like that.". Larry pops his head in the window," can you imagine, needing an operation like that?"
"Did you hear that, I said "imagine, needing an operation like that", eh he he he he!"
Can't imagine having a son that weak. Jesus
Yeah but he wasn't a bad kid, just mixed up and easily distracted.
mightymacdiesal12 foreal dawg lmao
His mother turned him in to a pussy.
Just ask your parents
Would you rather have a psychopath for a son, or AJ...
Thankfully this only happened to AJ in a uniform, and not our AJ.
Dude that "what did you say?!" gave me Nam flashbacks! David Chase def had an italian dad.The way he jumped up! lol
A lot of comments are unfair to AJ: when *he* later tries to join the army and sort himself out, his parents f### it up.
See ua-cam.com/video/qkZq0ws8RB8/v-deo.html
Everybody is talking about AJ as s character in this scene - I just come to this scene to laugh at how gooftroop he looks 😅
That "im standing fucking straight" would send me to emergency room, my father would beat the hell out of me for disrespecting my mother.

The hat makes him look like a total fool. Sure, that hat probably looked great in 1895, but NOW?!?
by now you mean 2001 😅
1:18 creepy.
1:34 The delivery makes me laugh every time!
"what did you say?" lol
Tony is always quick to bust his own son's balls...such a great dad!
@@Agent1W I love it. Lmao! No one is safe from Tony's burns 😆
Tony low-key clowning AJ 😂
No he wasn’t.
@@johnpoop5237he was lol, the lats and sgt bilko comment he was breaking his own kids balls
Still as funny today as it was back when I first saw it! You notice the bud light bottle next to tony. Can you say product placement.
His delivery of that "I look like a total jerkoff line" was priceless 😂
It's so amazing and excellent that just like him in 1:05 his son, Micheal Gandolfini has the exact same style in the new Many Saints trailer.
I am very sure he will rock the role of young Tony Soprano
Sending minors with disorders or disabilities to intimidation schools is a violation of the ADA. Or is it?
Maybe this was the one subtle hint about Tony's ED. I mean, what his lifestyle, it's almost certain he had some.
He looks like a toy soldier, do they really have to wear uniforms that look like that in military school?
i'm assuming it's for formal occasions, not for every-day wear
***** you are correct, and they say dress greys in the video
thesnare100 shoot, they got something like that at West Point and thats for real US Army ...
It’s a total nightmare for any kid to be sent to some kind of military school
Sergeant Bilko took me out😂😂😂
“What are you CRYING?!?!?” 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Whoever thinks sopranos is a drama before a comedy aint paying attention
I can help you increase the length girth and vitality of the shinebox that occurred naturally
Hey I know this guy! 😆
1:27 🤣
Tony is just as much to blame for AJ. He wouldn't have survived military school either.
One thing I always noticed was AJ's height, his actor is about 5 feet 4 in real life, same as Carmella. Tony is 6 feet tall but they never show them directly standing side by side even in the last season because it shows how much taller Tony really is compared to AJ. Aj's friends all look short as well.

"Ya talkin' to da boss here!"
Send him to Vitos house for a month. Lol 5 mins at vitos hed be knocking the door down at the military school begging for admission. Graduation top of his class. He thought the uniform was bad? Vito would have him in the leather biker village ppl costume. Lmao.
Oh! Sgt. Bilko!
That's a West Point full dress hat. It does not go with that uniform.
😂😂
Everytime I come back to rewatch some old Sopranos clips I find Carmela a little more attractive than the time before.
What kind of ceremonial helmet has just one feather? What is this the 1800s?
Little known fact, Boss of the Gambino crime family, Paul Castellano had to have, "An operation like that." Can you imagine?
Shit, When I was a kid, I begged my parents to send me to military school...told me I wasn't bad enough.
I assumed until I saw this that he had a panic attack at the military school. But no, he didn't even get that far.
"Imagine needin' operation like that"
Mothers are always too soft with their sons.
Which is why the two-parent dynamic is supposed to work. Whatever happened to "wait 'til your father gets home?"
next scene,"my shun has panic attacks "🤣
Edie's smile after he puts the hat on, thats unreal acting

AJ auditioning for My Chemical Romance lol
Carmela's facial expression when Tony is watching the commercial 😄😄
Honestly A.J. is right here. He'd never stop getting made fun of wearing that uniform.
I felt sorry for this kid. I know a lot of people hated him but he was a good kid to all intents and purposes. He just had a sosicpathic father who constantly berated him and tried to turn him into something he wasn't. He never found his purpose in life.
Lowkey wish I saw him go to the Military camp and be a changed guy
“Imagine… getting an operation like that”
“Imagine not being Italian, Tony”
Aj “ the nutcracker” jarrinbona Soprano 😂 1:33
They needed to do more with Jigsaw, he could have helped A.J. a lot by playing some games with him.
