People parked over the Tanks like this for more then a few minutes. Anytime we saw this, we would walk outside to "clean the lot" and get close to the vehicle. Only saw ONE person trying to do this over 9 years. Hollowed out van, hole cut in the floorboard trying to cut the LOCKS on the tank caps. Took cell phone video of his face and vehicle and called the cops. he got arrested.

Not every gas station is owned by a million dollar company, and even if most are they usually go through a franchise so one person or family could own the gas station, but they own a part of the company name so they have company policy to work for. Such as McDonald's and other fast food places all have franchises some are actually company stores, but most are people willing to pay a decent size of money for the brand name and type of store but they will own it. I think a McDonald's cost 1,000,0000 million to open as a franchise. My point is you aren't stealing from the company your stealing from individual small businesses and franchise owners that probably put their life savings to take the risk and open up stores with a multimillion brand name.

Although I don't necessarily doubt the theft occurred, it seems that the gas station manager may be overstating the amount of the theft. A gallon of diesel weighs ~7 pounds, so he's claiming that the thieves made off with around 1 ton (2,450 lbs.) of fuel each time? That's a lot of weight for an older Dodge Caravan, especially considering the effect it would have on the vehicle's handling.

Plus where do they store a thousand missing gallons of diesel in a residential neighborhood? 300 gallons of diesel is about 2,420 pounds plus it's liquid it will surge and spill everywhere if not secured.

The gas station owner makes less than a dollar per gallon. They are franchised. The station owner also pays a high price for the gasoline. The corporation and its shareholders make the vast majority of the profit. Theft only really harms the station owner, unless someone robs a train, refinery, or truck.

@@d00der41 were all broke, no one cares about gas station owners.
tell the shareholders to come work at the counter.

The manager should buy and park a large heavy junker SUV or truck over the caps to the tanks to block access and move it only when his supply tanker truck delivers fuel.

      That’s actually a good idea.

That's what I was thinking. Or at least get some pilons or saw horses to block off that area. Might not stop thieves but it will make it more obvious when someone wants to park there for a purpose.

Just put up some cones around the gas ports, then anybody who drive over the cones and stops for awhile should be reported to cops.

You're insured for the gas bro, running after them is asking to be shot. If you're that good, keep the gas 👍
