Hiking gear essentials review

- A little different video this week as not been out on the mountains so decided to sort my hiking gear out and the area i store them. Thought i would do a video of the clothes and equipment i use from hiking boots crampons jackets rucksacks to the bare essentials i take on a day out on the mountains. And me just rambling on.

Nice set up and gear Ally. I struggle to throw stuff out too...gear everywhere. I like the bottle openers, and the OEX stove makes for a nice cup of hot tea 😜👍👍
😅 davie that oex stove is brilliant and great for burning the eye brows 🤣 the wee led lights are great for 8 pounds and open bottles of beer 🍺 added extra al need to remember my coffee the next were out 🙈 Atb Ally 👍
Cracking Ally. Im nosey and love to see gear and how you store it! Thats absolutely top drawer mate. I love how organised everything is. I tend to have three things on one coat hanger and forget what i have!

A bit like pure gym meets Tiso lol. Nice 1 mate, great kit. I'm a nosey barsteward and it's good to see other people's kit. 😌
😅 Tam I was just clearing it up and sorting it out wasn't going to do a video was saying to Paul and said it would be a good Idea so I went with didn't think it would be so long 😅 I need to get back in the gym more Been slacking of the last few months 🙈 but would rather be out in the hills getting exercise instead. Good to see what other people have for ideas aswell. Hopefully get a meet for a day out soon Tam. Atb Ally 👍
I’ll back you up with the Grivel micro spikes. Started using them this year and love them.

Thanks again Robert mine was the same It was a pain trying to get everything together so decided to get this wee store area together. So easy now to pack everything for the hikes. Ally 👍

Great video Ally, managed to claim a walk in cupboard this year for my gear, so much easier having it all in one place! Feel your pain regards crampons ripping your rabs,done the same last month 🙄
Hi stu yip its great to have designated place for all your equipment so much easier to get it together for a hike, loved my rab trousers 👖 but so easy to catch the crampons on them and there expensive to replace 😪 managed to get a new pair during the week always like to have a spare pair just in case 😀. What’s the names of the little led lights you mention at 24 minutes , looks handy to have ?

Great video mate, really enjoyed seeing your quality set up. I'm looking to buy a GPS unit to aid navigation and I'm steering myself toward a Garmin. When you're out and about on the hills do you take a map & compass as well as the Garmin or do you just carry the tech?
Hi Ron thanks for taking time to watch the video, I used to take the map aswell but just go with the garmin now I also have an app I pay for on the phone with the routes aswell, the garmin is the best thing I have bought the battery life is brilliant. I download the routes in gpx format and transfer them in to the garmin . I Carry a battery bank aswell incase of requirement for charging but the garmin lasts all day and beyond never had to top it up most times its still at 3/4 battery life after a hike. ATB ALLY 👍
@@Allysmountainwalks6462 Appreciate the response and your sharing mate. Are the "GARMIN TopoActive Europe" maps good enough for the job or have you loaded different maps (Ordinance Survey?) onto the device. Also curious about what payed app you use on your phone. Sounds sensible to have a bit of defence in depth.
@ronharris4327 HI Ron I have the topo maps but don't use them I down load the gpx files from walk Highlands Website . The app I have is outdooractive its about 26 pounds a year and its a great app and it uses the same gpx files as the garmin. Ally 👍
