It might be due to my age, but I really enjoy and appreciate a driving experience sans engine sounds. Any engine sound, including exotics. There was a time when the passing of a V8 burble would tickle my spine, whereas nowadays, it's more like "meh."
The rear is ugly to me, but I can’t figure out why. That said, honestly props to Porsche for that frunk. Too many electric cars from legacy automakers make it too small (EV6, Ioniq 5) or skip it altogether (ID.4, i4, etc.)
I’m sure it’s fantastic as most Porsche’s are, but in 2/3 years it will be worth absolutely nothing! At least with a petrol you will be able to sell it on.
@ there’s a difference between depreciation and not being able to give it away, which happens with most electric vehicles! So unless you’re willing to take that hit, it’s a false economy. Which is why Porsche aren’t getting rid of the petrol version.
I have just placed an order for a petrol Macan GTS. I was looking for something to replace my BMW 330e touring PHEV but I find the Cayenne hybrid too big for British roads. I am not going for the Macan EV as 1) I am prepared to take a big hit in depreciation 2) battery degradation 3) having to sit around for charging and that the infrastructure is not up to speed. 4) synthetic fuel/ hydrogen may offer better alternative to Lithium Ion battery. I think and hope I have made the right choice.
It tells you VW are not committed.... Which is exactly why VAG sacked Dr Herbert Diess and have now found themselves in financial trouble. Give me the 650bhp Hyundai N5. Easier to insure, far cheaper to buy and less stolen.
It appears Porsche prefer their EVs to drive just like a ICE car in terms of braking. Other EV brands allow 1 pedal driving. Given it should just be a software change I would like Porsche to allow the Macan to be driven with 1 pedal driving if a customer wants to drive that way. In a Premium vehicle like this it should be easy change modes dependent on customer preference.
Actually not quite true, the ICE model had to be discontinued in Europe because of other EU regulations, so Europe only has this EV version now, while the rest of the world has both versions
Lovely vehicle. Lower maintenance cost and cheaper recharging but battery replacement packs probably cost $50,000 and that's probably the reason why depreciation is steeper than the Macan ICEV. Until batteries are proven to be engineered to last 16 years, I will stick with petrol or HEVs. We actually decided to go with a CPO '23 X3 M40i with torque vectoring. Probably $30,000 cheaper than getting the Macan S, that couldn't even be configured with PTV Plus. The 4S corrects that but alas, it's too late after I realized there are 15 to 30 (depending which expert you ask) degradation mechanisms for these current state of the art batteries.
There are lots of 10+ year old EVs going around without any issues. Recall rates are around 4% for those cars and all of them are using first generations cells. Current tech EVs can easily do 15+ years without any maintenance, and take into account that battery prices are more then likely to be less than half the price
@@yusufcanaktas6929 Which ones? There's calendar aging and pack failures are not only caused by deterioration. Capacity is not state of health and doesn't predict remaining life.
