Thank you so much for this tutorial! I have been struggling with video quality issues for an overhead setup for teaching Zoom art classes. I was using the Logitech Brio but purchased an Elgato Facecam, hoping to improve video quality, and I wasted more of my money because the Elgato is awful! I connected my old iPhone 11 using a USB extender cable, downloaded Camo, and followed your instructions. I was up and running in minutes, and the video quality using the iPhone is leaps and bounds better than any webcam. I am so happy I found your tutorial and channel!
You could also just dial in to the call with the phone via the Zoom, Teams, Signal etc app and your computer and not need to install a third party webcam app.
This is the best comparison video I have seen. Question: If I use the a mic I have plugged into my computer, will the audio be synced to my video from my iPhone? Also, the cord...are you just using the power cord with micro and regular USB on the end to connect to the computer? You are not plugging into a Video capture card like CamLink are you? This is amazing you can do this, but I’d rather buy a external HD webcam leaving my iPhone 📲 for personal/business needs. Nowadays can get great deals on HD webcams!
I am trying to read books on my imac. Have tried webcam. It works fine except I noticed it was upside down. Simple remedy, i thought turn book upside down. Now I have to read from right to left. Im not good at that. Have you tried using the iphone for this application?
Great info. So will One of these apps allow me to show a demo to my TV? The demo is an artist doing a demo on the flat table and I want to be able to show that to a larger audience on a TV screen. I already have the set up to hook up our iPhone to the tv through hdmi. And all I want to do is project it live to the TV screen. I don’t want to record. Would the camo app work for going full screen on the tv? Thanks for your help on this.
Okay so the question on everyone’s mind; How badly will the phone overheat while using it as a webcam? If I’m planning on using OBS and connect my phone as a camera, will it affect my phone horribly while live streaming?

If you ask me it is probably on MOST people's minds, as that is one of the big, up and coming, reasons to want a webcam these days. Most people that are looking to stream don't wanna drop big cash on a webcam when they are already carrying around a mini computer with a 4K camera that probably only gets used 1-2 times a month, unless you count all the times you use it as a mirror to check if your hemorrhoids have come back...just me? sorry getting a little off track...Anyway thanks for the question man and I hope it gets answered soon by someone that can actually help us out with this predicament. I just got the Camo lifetime license. It took beautiful video when I was using the free version but now everything except me is out of focus. I don’t really care if the background is out of focus, but I’m making guitar videos and it’s blurring out the guitar and sometimes the design of the shirt I’m wearing. What am I doing wrong?
if you want to do this wirelesly, and are using windows, skip the whole damn thing. if mac and wireless, then skip over Camo and go straight to EpochCam. Especially if you're on a time crunch like me; peace. Gotta keep searching, or buy a cam.
It sucks that epoccam is only available for ios devices, it would work so much better if it was compatible with android devices. That said droidcam obs works well if you have obs installed

Can anyone confirm that you can use either for streaming streaming platforms like Twitch?
Haven't tried it with Twitch, but I know it works with vMix, and I'm pretty sure OBS as well.
They attach it like a camera to your pc, so it works on any app that uses a camera.
