I wish I could personally boost the algorithm in your favor because you deserve more views, likes, and comments. I've been here since day 1, when you had a roommate and mostly did mandala type drawings. I know the variety of your channel, I've watched your style evolve and grow over time, and after years I had the privilege of meeting you in person and you are even nicer than anticipated. Keep doing you and I know you'll do spectacular ❤
I have been watching your videos for yearsss and i just wanted to say that i love your work, i love your energy, i love your strange little insights when you ramble and you make me giggle. Sometimes i go back and watch that one video of you sniffing the smelly pen just for a pick me up. I wheeze every time. Happy youre still creating
I’m a ceramic sculptor and a potter. If you’re ever tempted to try clay, even air-dry clay, it would be fascinating to see how you work, and what you produce. Love your drawings! Thanks for being a supportive person. :)
I just sent this episode to my sister in California. I am 71, she is 69. Like you... ye've both been and will always be artists in various mediums. My daughter Kate also loves your work. She too is a trained artist. Peter, what you do for us all out here is so welcome and essential... I'll also say, healing. Thank you for your support and encouragement over the years. Sincerely, a life fan... Sam Hatman
I don’t think it’s bad at all that you like to see people leave nice comments on your work lol you’re a human. I can’t believe you don’t like the first one I love it! Also I’m loving how much content you’re putting out!!
I love your art, and it has been a huge inspiration to me. Your videos have made me care less about what people may think about my art and care more about staying true to myself and seeing what kind of art comes out of that. I have noticed I am always happier with the end result when it was a true effort to stay true to myself. As much as I love your art, I follow you for your outlook and your mind. You have been the “cool art teacher” to more people than you know. Keep doing everything you have been doing and thanks for the inspiration!
I like the drawings you do that a little more organic than mechanically inclined. This one is maybe a bit of both, and I like it! It's quite spiffy! I post on IG, but I try never to draw/paint with that as my goal. I'm old, really old. I don't have time to make art for others. I make it for me. If other people like it? Bonus! Love ya, Peter! You're very wise for someone so young!
Dude, this is a revelation. So much better compositionally. So much better detail for its worth than as a goal. Much more cohesive narrative. Really, really stunning progress.
I am both an artist and an author... they go hand in hand in my world. I find your vids are just so inspiring and bring me joy to watch and listen. Normal pastels are like a chalk and go down on paper much like charcoal.
Truly just want to say thank you for sharing. Ive been out of practicing for a long time but am just now starting back and coincidentally wanting to start exploring charcoals. I love the positive charge you give through your mini ted talks, they're always incredibly helpful. Thanks
You deserve all the nice comments. You're incredibly generous, open and giving in the way you share! Something I've been doing recently that you might enjoy is using pigments from the environment, particularly rock-based. It can be quite simple to find something that will work and grind it up with honey, water and gum/sap, or just some water and oil of some kind. I do it with guidance of some cousins as we are indigenous and it's another way to connect to our environment and traditional practices. But I think anyone can do it as long as you're choosing the right places to gather from and doing it carefully. The Book of Earth by Heidi Gustafson shows some techniques and all the colours that can be found in rocks and earth.
I would recommend chalk pasteles (thats what non-oil pasteles are) on black paper. 👌so so fun, so much contrast, and its a similar feeling to the charcoal on paper feel.
I love these drawings, Peter! I miss the fun of it, especially after uni drained much enjoyment from me in relation to art. All the best and happy drawing!
Mr. Peter I am feeling the same way as you. Less patient, more energetic with the arts. I would love to see you indulge and in some watercolor experiments!
im currently learning how to use charcoal in my drawing class, so this video was a nice asset for that. thanks Peter the drawings came out really noiceee
First 35 seconds and my anxiety is off the charts because of me remembering my high school art teacher yelling at us every time we drop pencils saying IT BREAKS THE LEAD INSIDE..
Charcoal is so underrated imho, I love the shades you make, and I'm feeling quite the film noir atmosphere from your drawings - in the best way possible, it's almost like a comfy throwback :) Thank you for this very neat video
There's oil pastel and soft pastel. Soft pastel is a lot like using compressed charcoal, except with colors and it's my favorite medium. Rembrandt is a good starting out soft pastel, but they're a bit harder than the more expensive ones. Sennelier is a good step up from Rembrandt, they're a little softer. The real nice ones are buttery smooth and some of them are so soft you barely touch them to the paper and pigment comes off.
Peter?....Are you thinking about...maybe, just maybe....becoming an art teacher, like in a school? This was so good, so inspiring--- if I wasnt already making art I would have rushed out in the rain to get supplies. What you said about creating was just right. Your students will love you...just don’t leave us entirely.
Wow this really hit me. I know what you mean about the self doubt. My art almost never get's on social media and of course it never get's comments. 2 reasons are I don't post enough but I also run out of time (working 12-14 hours a day) but I still draw. It's just my thing. I use it for now for work posters on the potlucks or Christmas cards and then I try to draw when I can. I don't know maybe I don't need likes to draw? Man I love this art piece, looks like Star Trek!, glad your enjoying the characoals, I used to put a few white on top of the blacks. Ooooh, colored pastels on charcoals might be a nice dash of color! You can use a knife and powder it down and put it on with a dry brush (or a wet brush)
One can also use charcoal in their folding titanium backpacking stove. It burns longer than random sticks and twigs picked up from the forest floor. Bearing in mind you are just boiling water for freeze-dried back-packers' meals. The charcoal pencils- not so much- the paint on the outside of the pencils stinks when burning. Anyways.
I think Kaweco Sport comes with a cartridge of ink, but for some reason the cartridges that come with fountain pens are usually blue ink. But you can order more cartridges in some other colors
Once in awhile i break out my resin art stuff and do a project it usually lasts for weeks adding to it till im done but mostly i grow as a hobby and i am obsessed with that but I have to have something all the time going constant or i feel lifeless.
Have you ever heard of KRINK? They make some great markers. So, working on larger sheets of paper, try using KRINK models, K-71 and K-51, and throw in a K-63 as well. Think you might enjoy the flow and feel.
Yeah I’ve tried those occasionally, but aren’t they like $15 a marker? I think they are refillable, and it’s probably still good investment for a few of them, it’s just a hard pill to swallow sometimes
@ Totally agree; they are pricey. But personally, I don't mind the hit, as I both enjoy the experience of using them and just the design of them. I keep the empties just for the look of them! I mean, I also love brush markers, so I'll pay $8 for only one of those, too. I'm something of a marker enthusiast, so I know I'm paying too much at times. But I understand if someone does not want to.
Dude stop overthinking things, your creativity is freaking dope man, it’s art, even if you think a specific drawing is boring then it’s meant to be boring, let it be boring and name it boring, the point is even if it is boring your special creativity still manages to make boring look good if that makes sense, just keep posting man,all your drawings are alllll great work and I’m absolutely positive that people love to watch 👍👍👍
Please respect your art materials, it is not a good idea to throw them away, there are many better artists in the world who cannot afford them. You are a good artist!
I agree that its best to repurpose or donate supplies as much as possible. That said its not a sin to do what you want with what you own yourself. Just like you cannot magically get your food in your fridge to the starving in the world, its not realistic to donate or repurpose everytime.
I wish I could personally boost the algorithm in your favor because you deserve more views, likes, and comments. The chaotic energy in this video is top tier
Peter is the best at chaotic energy
It means everything to me
The contrast you’re getting in your charcoal drawings is so satisfying

You are such a cool person! Thanks for inspiring so many of us
In our art journeys
I love u Peter, thanks for the encouragement and positivity. Being an artist ain't easy. But I'm thankful ur around.
The finesse with the box of pencils 11/10

Alway appreciate the way pete pronounces drawing 'draw-wing
I love the charcoal phase lately
Props to the camera person for not cracking up right at the beginning

I dont even draw, i just love watching this guy's videos
I love the sound of a pile of charcoal for drawing 🥰
Such a gem of a channel keep up the amazing work you do

You make me want to do some art
Awesome as always Peter , very inspiring my good man
Your "random lines" make more sense to me than a bowl of fruit painting does.
loving these big charcoal drawings, you're getting such great ethereal depth in there
Truly just want to say thank you for sharing. Ive been out of practicing for a long time but am just now starting back and coincidentally wanting to start exploring charcoals. I love the positive charge you give through your mini ted talks, they're always incredibly helpful. Thanks

I am very fond of charcoal and I love your drawings. I have never seen anyone use this medium in such a creative way 😍
I love these drawings, Peter! I miss the fun of it, especially after uni drained much enjoyment from me in relation to art. All the best and happy drawing!
...Peter, you are a unique person, and an inspiration...Thank You :)
“Electric Gear Bra” 👊😎
It’s magic! To watch the image come to life!
Mr. Peter

Love your style. You remind me of Imagination Station, Mark Kysler I believe is his name. I loved watching him growing up on TV.
Lovely to see a talented artist drawing 🎉😊
Here is a nice comment for you! Like this charcoal stuff and thank you for your encouragement to all!
You and your art are fantastic man!
Charcoal is so underrated imho, I love the shades you make, and I'm feeling quite the film noir atmosphere from your drawings - in the best way possible, it's almost like a comfy throwback :)

I agree - Peter has natural teaching skills - generous, kind, open, informative, uplifting.

The evolution of Profesor Peter continues.
There's a youtuber mad charcoal who is a beast when it comes to this medium
Greetings, Peter. Excited for the upcoming art book
"My dirty little finger." - Peter, 2024
Another good video , good art and good thoughts .
love ur videos peter been a fan since those mandala videos ages ago! I was a wee lad then
Oh this one is really good!! It's giving me major "disco Elysium" vibes
Who's filming you? Who's the lucky guy or gal who has been allowed into your coveted inner circle? ❤
I bet it’s his gf

Hey Peter can you recommend a fountain pen that comes with cartridges of ink? One that costs $50.00 or less? Thank you
I think Kaweco Sport comes with a cartridge of ink, but for some reason the cartridges that come with fountain pens are usually blue ink. But you can order more cartridges in some other colors
@ ok! Thank you!😊❤️
Peter you're one of my favourite humans ever
"I've got a weird idea right now, where's my knife" nice

REALLY like this medium!! awesome Peter! Would you sell the original @10:41?
Perhaps make a frame, the same size as sketchbook, to give us a true 'on wall' perspective of your charcoal work.
blurry waters color blotches with black ink on top 🖖
will you ever sell your squarespace ad drawings? i’m obsessed with all of them
Mania is a helluva stimulant
This is meant with all love btw wrote it after seeing ur eyes in the intro clip but ur commentary is lovely
Do u just spray them with fixative?
I should but I don’t!
once my baby is big enough i will be painting and drawing again
The generals pencils being dropped like that made me shudder. Those pencils are kinda expensive where i live
I do pen & ink on 20"x30" sheets of Bristol Board. Often lots of detail. It takes longer. Maybe I'm patient.
Peter what camera did you use for your iron pour video?

The big juicy graffiti pens could be fun.
Mechanical Pencils: Visconti. Rotring. Faber-Castell.
Are you ever going to draw a comic book?
Mental
Noice
Can you do an asmr again

I didn’t throw them away they went to the floor, I picked them up after the video :)
Bravo. Now draw comics and small illustrations. When coated with a strengthener, it will lose intensity.
