I like how you understand monoculture and grow the Alyssum to attract beneficial insects👌💞Your pachanois are awesome! And you have a cumquat tree, we have a huge one here in the garden. The tillandsias look great hanging about your garden! I enjoyed watching🤲🌟
Glad you enjoyed :) Yes planting many of the “good bug plants” has really helped to increase our lacewing, ladybug, assassin bug, and other beneficial insect populations. Thanks for watching!

Just got a LER from you and it looks amazing. It would be great if you could do a video on ground/soil prep for planting cactus in ground. Keep growing amazing plants and making cool videos.
I am a fan of your horticultural business. I accidentally stumbled upon one of your videos and I ordered some peruvianus seeds from you a few weeks ago. I planted them about 5 days ago so still have a few days left before they are suppose to germinate. Keep up the good work.
Dear Mallacht: When you do new video tour in your beautiful (and really interesting) garden? I’ve watched the video probably ten times and it would be nice to see how your plants have grown and if you have something new in there. Regards; Plant freak😄 I have large garden my self and i try to grow a plant collection in my garden every year. I always look for inspiration from such videos in the winter when it is cold here in Finland for half a year.
I actually have a cactus from them that arrives today.I can't wait till I get home.this is my first purchase and I hope they are good.they seem cool so far
From them? As in us? We here at Mallacht's Plants hope you enjoy your purchase as well. We've sold thousands of ft, over a mile's length now, so we must be doing something right :) I say it's the SoCal weather, makes it easy for us to grow nice fatties
@@mallachtsplants Just want to say my cactus was beautiful.I am so impressed with everything.I can't wait to purchase again.I wont look anywhere else to purchase from.thank you and you will here from me soon.good job
Do you use a shading regimen to get them acquired/used to full sun before giving them their own open sun space like you were mentioning or do you move shade tarps around depending on seasonal changes? I've built some portable shade stands out of 2×4's and I've noticed plants with natural shading like under tree branches seem to do the best for my trichs.
I almost always put Trichos in full sun right away. Unless the person I received it from specifically tells me that it was grown in shade, then I acclimate using my shade house, then full sun.
how do I take care of a variegated San Pedro?! I want to get one so bad but can't really find any information on them, I'm nervous because I keep reading that its a very hard plant to take care of and that's about it lol I seen that you had some in your collection.
Always best to join a group where you can learn in the presence of other growers of all skill levels. Here is our group, make a post and introduce yourself and your variegated San Pedro. Www.Facebook.Com/groups/mallachtsplants
Man, out of all those plants not one mention of the LER pach or bridge lol! I keep hearing about the FB group but man, I got off a few years ago and I just can't bring myself to go back, for an ever growing list of reasons. Have you guys considered moving the auctions etc to reddit or maybe including it in your home site? Also i was wondering if you could share more about that Grandfather clone or where to possibly find it. Thanks man!
Allen Smithee Fact of the matter is there is a massive Facebook scene brother. I guarantee you the majority of people that are into this hobby are definitely on Facebook. One Trichocereus group has almost 20k people in it, my group alone has 5.5k. There are two thriving auction groups that sell hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of cacti. To say we should move the auctions is kind of selfish, with all of this in mind, don’t your think? Particularly when there are a ton of cacti hobbyists that have profiles named “Sam Pedro” or “Cacti Spinez” (actual examples) and these profiles have no personal info, no human pics, just cacti pics. Go make a fake profile, find me on there “Tyler Ekstein” and I’ll add you to all of the best groups. You’re missing out, I guarantee it.
Allen Smithee Btw, I know the majority of the people that are into this hobby are on Facebook for a fact, as our website tells us where our business comes from and 86% of it comes from Facebook. Some does come from Reddit, around 2% I believe? I post on Reddit from time to time as well and enjoy the community there.
Allen Smithee Allen Smithee I am the only one that has the Grandfather clone, the mother plant was unfortunately destroyed. Only me, about 4 of my friends, and I believe 3 others at this point have been auctioned as well. Those are the only folks who have it. To answer how to get it, well that would be impossible without Facebook as the auction groups there are the only places I sell it.
Allen Smithee Also to answer your question about the LER (which we’ve sold 1/3 of the miles length of now btw) and the Bridgesii “Lee” (there is no LER bridge) - They are massive stands, they wouldn’t even fit at my place. As many know from FB, I sell those two for a friend of mine: Lee. Many know him through the Facebook tricho groups. In fact he just organized a massive meetup and pretty much all of the tricho guys on the west coast made it. It was huge man, looked like a Trichocereus swap meet or something.
@@mallachtsplants I know itself massive, everyone I've met or traded with asks if I'm on it and references it constantly. Respectfully though man I don't think its fair to call it selfish, Facebooks ethics and history of invading privacy are well know and I think expecting someone to participate in or be exposed to them in order to buy plants isn't entirely fair. I completely understand the sheer volume of participants in that group make it near impossible to move and don't doubt that community itself is great. Creating a shell profile is a good idea though, I'll look into what data permissions are required by FB ie my isp or access to contacts, I suppose i could make a shell email as well.
upaiaq I either use one of those pick up stick things, like people use to pick up trash. Or, I have to just reach in there and risk stabbing my self a bunch. Which happens pretty much every time to some degree.
There is is, the proper pronunciation. Gaelic is the old Irish and Scottish language, back to the Celtic days. It’s the same for both. If you click that and play the quick audio clip, it clearly says it’s pronounced “Gay-Lic” (Third generation Irish here) :) :) :)
Zane Kenney Actually, technically since Latin is a dead language, no one really knows how it all should be pronounced. This is straight from my PhD horticulture teacher. Also, this has been discussed in length in forums and in Facebook groups throughout the years. Fact is everyone thinks these Latin botanical names are pronounced differently. I’ve seen two experts give talks in a row and each of them said the names differently, lol.
Thank you for your service 🌵🙏
