    The title of this made me think we were going to learn how to setup a motorcycle on a “lift” / motorcycle hoist. Which I was interested in!

      Lol... me too... I don't ride to places where I am worried about my bike being stolen (cities) and would not carry a security lock because it's extra weight for marginal benefit (seems like most bikes are stolen by getting thrown in the back of a vehicle and even with alarms they're gone in a minute or less so the only thing that might help would be a tracking device) but I DO transport my bikes in my truck regularly and while I think my process is pretty secure it gets there by being 'overkill' (I have 3 different strapping approaches each of which should be able to hold the bike in the bed if the other two failed). Would love to see a video where RevZilla reviews bike lifting/transport strapping/mounting tools and approaches. (Idea for an episode!)

    I treat the bike the same way as a car. Have good theft insurance. Piece of mind. If anyone gets it I get a new one minus $500 deductible.

    Someone who knows about your motorcycle , knows also that the front wheel is easy to remove with proper tools ... so the chain or the block-disk are only protecting the front wheel not the whole bike ... The best way to lock with a chain is by the frame of the bike

    In the age of lithium battery powered grinders even the HD square profile chains are easily defeated. As for a disk lock, lifting the front end and placing the wheel on a small dolly and the bike is easily rolled away into the waiting generic white van. That being said, I use such a chain when my bike is on the trailer being transported along with a factory OEM motion alarm and a full cover. There is only so much one can do. I always thought a trained rattle snake with the bike might be a good idea as a deterrent!

      I have a U lock through the front axle, with a chain that goes to a carport support with a big padlock on it. Any part of that can be defeated readily enough, but it makes my bike kind of a pain in the ass to steal, which is probably why they took the R6 that only had the steering locked a few spots down instead.

      A 20 piece bucket of fried chicken on the seat seems to be a good deterrent.

    Another idea if you don’t have an anchor point is to lock multiple bikes together with that krytonite chain. very difficult to steal attached motorcycles, whether they are ridden away or rolled into a vehicle. A small hidden tracking device like an AirTag doesn’t help with theft but can help with recovery.

    Now that you guys have a shop in NYC, can you do a similar video geared more to urban environments?

    Personally I have the disc lock, more of a deterrent than protection. Also if anyone is using chains, try to not have them lying on the ground as that way it is possible to step on the bolt cutters and generate much greater force than just with hands. Ofc none of the methods will help if someone really wants your motorcycle.

    This was really bare bones I would do these things for a bicycle. Are chains and disc locks all the market has to offer?

  • @dadandkids5028
    @dadandkids5028 Рік тому +1

    ... or, instead of a disc lock, you can buy a big-ass padlock which on my bike goes around and through the rear disc. $20 gets a good one. I have a neodymium magnet I stick to the ignition switch when it is in place - remove both before riding.

    • @gamemeister27
      @gamemeister27 Рік тому

      There's no way it's actually a decent lock at $20. Shackle is probably made of paper and the cylinder will open if you look at it funny.
