No not yes... The 100mm version is adjustable from 80 to 100. 100 is the MAX adjustment.... Other words it wouldn't be a 100mm travel fork it would be a 120....
I'm thinking about this fork for my straight steer frame. So far this is the best option I can find for straight steer. I would rather have 130mm though. (the website says 100 or 120mm only)
Hi 👍 I've got these forks @140mm on a 2016 voodoo hardtail with a straight steerer. You have to buy a new headset. I went for a Cane creek Forty external cup ec44 and Forty zero stack zs44 (I believe hope sell the same equivalent too) After 4months no issues. I've done fast light trails, small jumps and stepdowns with no problems.
Geo will be messed with a 140. Thats at least 1 degree slacker, and likely 10mm of BB height. Otherwise this would be a fine replacement, just get it in the 120
Hey James, love your videos!!! Question about the Monitou fork. Does the 27.5+/29 would fit a 29+ 3inch tire? Almost all the forks I have seen they have those markings as 27.5+/29. But not sure if is for 27.5+ and regular 29er non plus. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I got the fork as 29 but they shipped me a 27.5, the wheel rubs on the arch when you land hard, squeeze the front break really hard, or sometimes if you do a sharp turn
Do you think this would be a good replacement for a 2019 trek marlin 5 fork for trail riding (the stock ones manufacturer recommended agienst trail riding with them)
I have one and it rides beautifully but, I only do cross country since I’m in S. Florida and I’m new in the MTB game but so far I’ve been improving quickly with the setup I have. One question, do you know how big I can go on the tire width? I currently have a 2.3 and I want to go to 2.5 if I have enough space
Logan Sheets My fork has 120mm and works great for what it is! I bought the bike in 2018 and was the first bike I really rode since getting off bmx bikes in my young 20’s. That was 20 years ago. So I really do t have much to compare it to, but its been great as an entry level bike. The fuse is a hardtail and the bike is supper smooth. I guess part of it is the plus size tires and the rest is due to the fork. It has a rebound adjustment on the bottom of the drive side tube. Its time for the fork to get serviced as I havent had anything done to it in over two years 😳
I have manitou machete 140. Which should have 140mm travel. But in fact it never goes further that the 100mm mark, even when it is completely deflated. Do I have a wrong understanding of travel in forks, or is something wrong with my fork?
SAME. Took the Machete off my Trek Stache and put the Rock Shox Recon 120 back on. Also, I dove into buying this fork with miscalculating the offset/140mm travel. Looking to adjust the travel to 130mm now that I've also changed from a 29+, to a 27.5 wheelset. @Jamesthebikeguy do you have links on how to change travel?
Maybe I have a bad luck, but I was using this fork for more than half a year and it started to make noises (clicking between steerer tube and crown), then I had this one replaced by the same, but new fork and again after 3 weeks of using same thing has happened, now I am waiting for the third fork, probably in some of them there is a factory defect.
A straightforward review without out all the useless babbling, refreshing!
Seems pretty sweet! Great video.
Thanks, it is a pretty good Fork
Great video dude¡¡ its the only review i could find ¡ I'm just waiting my Manitou Machete ¡¡
Glad I could help!
32mm diameter seems to be a Little low for 130/140mm travel... IMHO For a Trail use better not drop below 34mm, for more rigidity.
Agreed, but they do that to help make this lower cost
Great video. So 100mm version can be adjusted to have 120mm of travel?
i've the same question
Yes

My machete has ABS+ why does yours comes only with quick toggle?
I like it.32mm stanchion make big diff... I just puta raidon back on my bike as it was better than a new judy i just bought😐
Do you think this is an adequate replacement for a 2019 trek roscoe? Also, would there be adverse reaction to steering going from 120mm to 140mm ?

Nice review 👍. Can you proffer your opinion as to how does this compare to Reba or suntour Axon.
What are you thoughts of this fork doing stoppie lots of wheeling and bunny hops, can it endure it?
It will do all that just fine.

@@fatmexican6925 that's your wheel flexing most likely. Time to tighten the spokes

what's the diff between this and ordinary machete?
What is there difference to Rockshox Reba?
my manitou machette comp 100 (from a merida big nine 3000 2018) weight is 1680g without lockout and axle...
my 27,5/29 120mm weighs about 2 kilos.
i have the machete comp 29 9mm qr nonboost variant. the travel is 100mm do you think i can go to 120mm? hope you can answer this
You will need to ask your local bike shop
There should be a bumper inside. Many people say you remove it and you get the full travel.
So would you recommend these forks?

With a 29? If so 2.4
I have a specialized fuse comp with this fork and my tire size is 27.5 x 3.0!
@@panhandlemtb4308 how has the fork been holding up for you? Gotten smoother over time? What mm of travel do you have? Hows the suppleness been?

@Jamesthebikeguy do you have links on how to change travel?
Is this ok if im gonna use this on dartmoor primal that requires 130mm-160mm travel? Just for light trail only as i plan to use it more on roads
Yeah would be fine.
How would this compare to the rockshox reba rl?
Beautiful fork
Sure is!
Air spring means it has both air and coil spring? Or solo air?
Air only. "Solo air" is a term from Rockshox back when they had dual chambers in early air forks. It's not a term used to describe a fork these days
How would this compare to the Recon RL 29/27.5+ in performance and reliability?
Hard to say. Can't help but appreciate the ease of serviceability with SRAM/RockShox
great review.. im wondering what's the maximum rotor size for that fork?
There isn't one. You just need the correct size adapter and you can fit whatever size disc you want
Is this better than manitou markhor?
Does this exist in a non tapered steerer tube? I need to find a 27+ fork with no taper. Please help
Run any 29er fork, it will work for 27.5+
Do you think a 27.5x3.25 Duro Crux would fit? Thanks James. Jimmy
Did you find any information on this? Cheers
Hi, i have the same fork. But i have the 100mm travel variant. Up to what 29er wheel tire it can fit? 29x2.1? 2.2? Thanks :)
I have successfully ridden a 29x2,6 Magic Mary. Even a 27,5x3,8 Minion FBR fit with about 6-7mm lateral gap and enough vertical space for a fender.
Is this for coil or air
This is air
Does anyone know if this will run a Hodag on a 45mm rim?
3.0"width is supported
👌
Will this fit a 2.8inch 27.5 wheel?
Yeah
I'm running 3" 27.5 just fine on this fork with my Fuse Comp
how can i upgrade my 100mm fork to 110mm or higher?
If possible it's usually a replacement air spring assembly
@@Jamesthebikeguy thanks for your help, but if you can, you could make one video about it, to be clearer for us subs
I have the same model from this review ,can the travel can be increase more than 100mm? 120 or 130?
with a airspring assy
@@Jamesthebikeguyits 27,5 plus/ 29 x 110mm ts air 100mm travel , my question is can i increase the travel to 120 or even 130 ?
So this comes in a straight steerer with 9mm QR? Sold
Stop by your LBS
does it accomodate 2.40 to 2.50 sized tyres??
Sure.
What do u think is better manitou machete or suntour epixon?
Pretty decent fork!
@@Jamesthebikeguy should i go with the machete or epixon?
Manitou machete, epixon or aion(34 mm) ?....my LBS has aion and machete at same price
Manitou machete, epixon or aion(34 mm) ?....my LBS has aion and machete at same price
So i can change the travel of my machete pro to 140mm?
you should
Would it fit a 29x3.0 tire?
That would be unlikely

Hmm, strange.
Would the thru axle fit stock giant talon rim?
If the giant has 110x15 hub
Would it work with a 27.5 (650b)??
You would need a 27.5 fork
What is the offset on this fork?
Depends on the spec
Nice fork!
Sure is!
@@Jamesthebikeguy :)
is it good for dirtjump
It will work.
Like 328 brazi!
160 rotor, wtf manitou!!
??? You can run any size 160 or larger...
Adapters are like $10-30... pretty common to have 160mm till you get to expensive weight weenie or downhill specific models
