Ahead of the game back in 1990's! I drove my first EC10 in 1993, at 23 years old. I struggled at first with the 'twin split' and the prepared gear for hill driving , my gosh what a magic super machine! ❤️💖 You hold a special place in my heart. As a young woman back then, l have never forgot the lessons l learned from the EC10. Ended up driving in NZ, crash gear box! 😆😁👍
Margaret thatcher and the de industrialisation of the UK from the 70s onwards was a huge contributing factor...we became a service country instead of a manufacturing country....and we're still suffering from that that policy ....in the meantime heavy industry in Europe was largely funded from central government the complete opposite to the UK
@@marinman3551 couldn't agree more mate I'm from Huddersfield a mill town and full of engineering works when I was a lad now all but gone my father working at David brown gears making gears for frigate and challenger 2 main battle tanks from 1964 to 90.its still there but so much reduced in numbers. Yes no way was France and Germany going to get rid of their industrial power and their so much better off than us as a result.
pERFECt trucks done my apprenticeship with erf dealer from 1990 and learnt to drive twin splitters best trucks e and ec still work on odd ones now and then done most erf couses im midlewich great times
I remember doing pdi inspections on these in the late 90s, they always used to have loose rear shock bolts and fifth wheel bolts 😂 I still love a Erf 👍🏻
Wow, the plastic pig! Seriously if erf were any good they'd still be here. Like seriously given a choice back then which driver in their right mind would chose it over Scania or Volvo???
Best wagons I ever drove

Once you get your head round the twin splitter they where a lovely truck to drive.
Owned three during my time as owner driver did me well lovely trucks.
i bought a ec as my first truck did well over a million miles in her such a shame there not around now id still be buying them
Had a few here in ireland they were very good trucks
This was the best cab layout , in my opinion.
It's a tragedy that us brits cant make quality trucks and for that matter other vehicles like we did in the past we were the workshop of the world.
Fully agree with you.
We did do quality, the tragedy was we couldn’t compete on price and reliability.
Destroyed by unions

11:18 Melancholy inducing hearing this and knowing what happened to ERF and it's Legendary Lorries🙌🏻
The fact is that ERF was bought by Western Star in 1996,Man bought ERF in 2000 and shut down in 2007 as Cummins Couldn't supply a Euro 4 engine

5th wheel mounts loved to crack
Selling to MAN was a tragedy to british industry. I drove a erf e14 365 married to the eaton twin splitter on a eight wheeler tipper .
The e10 325 were decent too but those cat 300 seemed to out perform the 325
Wish I had a penny for every mile i did in one of those great lorries, Eaton twin Splitter and Cummins 👍
Great gearbox
British legend
CUMMINS EATON ROCKWELL WAS A GOOD COMBINATION.
They are very true ERF will run years and opon years
BRILLIANT TRUCKS.
Great truck a oul work horse like the d a f 2800 go for ever
Erf are great, erf are reliable, erf.... 10.00 shit he cant get a gear!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Who is erf ec designer ???
I think was Val Dare-Bryan ;)
It was Val Dare Bryan
How hard the Brits tried. No match for the Volvo and the Scanias.
In your opinion.
