I used to work on these during my apprenticeship. Never seen one with a 16 speed box, ours were all 12 speed Eaton boxes with twin friction plate clutches. They were a good truck
Yeah I think most people remember them with the Eaton Twinsplitters in, theres a few 16 speeds I know of but most seem to be the twins, I did want a twin splitter but I am happy with a 16speed eaton too. Plus my 16 speed still has the PTO pump on and Im collecting the parts to make it all a usable PTO again.
Brings back memories this does. Spent a few happy years on these and the e c 10 with the Eaton twin splitter. Happy days when you got the hang of that gear box!! Proper trucks!
They drive so well, I love being in it, mines not the twin split unfortunately but may get a twin split in one day, still got the eaton 16 speed in which drives great too to be fair.
Ah man, i just found your channel. I too have lots of ERF memories. I spent most of my school holidays in the late 80s/early 90s in my uncles E10. The Cummins engines of that era had an amazing sound.
Pleased your here then, there is plenty of ERF stuff to come! I spent years around them when I was little, grew up around the E series and ECs too. When I sat in the EC it brought back so many memorys.
hi,just subscribed,i drove a lot of ERFs and my favourite was the B series,290 cummins,13 spd fuller, you have a great unit,340hp,with sixteen spd you can change gear around 1500 revs and let the turbo do its job,i loved british trucks so ill be watching phil.
Nice to have you along! I nearly bought a E series with a 290 Cummins on too, but cab was very very very tired! The 16 speed would be a really nice box with weight on because you its got the split instead of having to drop another gear. Hope you enjoy the rest of the videos.
Ols haulage firm that was over the road used to run them, spent so many Saturdays playing around with them. Jumping in it and the smells just brought back sooo many memory's. If your ever up or at a show let is know you can jump in.
Its going to take some getting used to but I will get there, I it will be very rare I use all 16... nice to have if I need to though. Plus sounds cool haha!
Looking forward to seeing the progress on your new lorry them M11 cummins engines are bomb proof and very good on fuel I’ve a ec14 with same gearbox as yours can’t fault them, looks a good project pal
Thanks! I never heard much bad about M11 cummins unless its had a realllly hard life! I would of liked the twin splitter but I am more than happy with this box, it just feels smooth from what ive driven so far. Cant wait to get dug into it. Doing the list of bits to get it on the road at the minute.
Hi, love your videos of a such a great British truck! My great X3 grandfather was Edwin Foden and I live just up the road from where the ERF legend Peter Foden lived. I've got loads of info and pictures you might be interested in and always like to share it. If you have your email address I'll send you some good ERF stuff!
The main reason is because I grew up with them, there was a haulage firm that was across the road from us, ran ERFs and I just remember them so well, I remember the ECs most as well because I sometimes went out in them on a couple locals too. That is pretty much it to be honest.
Are you guys looking forward to seeing the project get under way, hoping to get some time on it this week so possibly new ERF content coming soon!

@@terrywillis2363 not sure if it will be making it to any this year quite yet but time will tell! Will have to see how I get on with it.
I liked those time lapse shots. I saw the same truck as this running through Hexham the other day.
Was it just along the road from the foundry? I know Hubbock has one he uses to drag his steamer around with.
this will be great to see progress, it looks pretty good already
Yeah she's a clean old unit to start, can't wait to get it done and out to shows. Think it is one of the cleanest ones I went to see.
Spot on pal. Nice shout out to Kim too 👌 you guys will love it 😊

Very good old truck I have one like that
Ooo nice what do you have?
Mate, you keeping it at 380bhp or you planning on uprating it?
Probably turn it up to around the 410 mark because you can do it pretty easy with the 380s. Not that it will ever work hard with me to be fair! Haha.
@ThePhilBilly 410 is a good rating, I would go with that 👍

@@ThePhilBillythanks, that EC range were brilliant. If you let me know how I can send you some old ERF pics!
@@andrewhawthorn8289 if you want you can email me ttem, I think my email is on my UA-cam channel.
So what is it about that truck - ERF EC11 - that makes it a dream truck for you? Asking cos I know f**k all about trucks.

Well your not very nice are you 😂
I did promise you could sit in it and make noises to pretend your driving. Might even let you start it if your well behaved.
@@ThePhilBilly aww your so kind I want one
@@liamking2930 well you can pretend. Just buy an ERF steering wheel for the Scania and put a fake gear stick in
Hi, just can't stand that horrible intro song!
Yeah it's awkward to find songs to use because of bloody copy right stuff! Makes the choices very limited unfortunately.
