My father ran ford trucks for 30 yrs the last one was a D series wich was far superior to the trader it replaced but the engines wanted an compleat over hall at 100 thousand miles specially the ford turbo models, strange to see spare wheels as not many modern trucks carry a spare nowadays , if i remember correctly you wound them up and secured them with two nuts
