Fired up and ready to climb through the hills of Bucks County, ex-Lancaster & Chester 2-8-0 "Consolidation" #40 sees her return to hauling Santa's Steam Spectacular, operated by the New Hope & Ivyland Railroad. These trips follow the ex-Reading New Hope Branch between the towns of New Hope and Lahaska, PA, a short but scenic ride. Passengers are greeted by Santa Claus himself, and are offered photos, hot chocolate and a treat. In this video, we'll be taking the fireman's seat on the ride up the grade to Lahaska. Our engineer on this trip is veteran engineer Casey, whom has spent a good chunk of his railroad career at the throttle of #40. Ask him if he prefers being in Florida over being on #40, he'd pick #40 anyday. Now, please enjoy this exciting video brought to you by Blue Comet Productions!
This video was filmed on December 22nd and 27th, 2018.
Special thanks goes to the New Hope & Ivyland Railroad for the cab ride!
Great coverage! Love the audio here.
You did one heck of a job on this. Great work. IMO, it really stands out from all the other NHRR 40 videos out there.
Awesome video
I first rode on this at the age of 7 back in 1968.. it changed hands a couple of times since, yet still looks about the same 😃
I haven't seen 40 since she was restored. Need to get up there to see her.
Excellent. Shots like 5:03 and 5:29 just send it out of the park!
Fantastic video
I love the shot at 6:31 at the private drive. I've only seen it from the train so it's very cool to have another perspective.
Anyone else going on the North Wales excursion?
That D&RGW 5 Chime sounds epic on 40!!!!!
I'm more use to her Reading 6 chime that made her sound and look like a smaller Strasburg 90 but you're right that 5 chime sounds great on her. Can't wait to hear it when she runs in North Wales.
That shot in the trees with the golden light was spectacular! Love the video!
