@@Youngboyablohit wasn't though. Marr has said that Rourke created every bass part he played. As a bass player myself, it's a great bass line but not that difficult and certainly not the most difficult of Smiths bass lines.
God I had no idea he died. He really added such a flavour to the sound of The Smiths, as his bass lines were just so driving and truly excellent in there music. What a legend who’s gone but never forgotten. RIP Andy Rourke ❤️🕊️
This one was a punch in the gut. I was a late-comer to The Smiths, but he fast became one of my very favourite bass players. Great picks! Honourable mention for Well I Wonder 🎉
Barbarism is my favourite bass line of all time, it’s just so fun to play. Doesn’t matter that it’s the same bassline for 7 minutes; every second is great 👍
Well I Wonder is a great bassline as well. Losing Andy really hurt, he was (still is) one of my favourite bassists of all time and I was shocked and very sad to hear that he died. R.I.P.
I was 13yrs old in 1984 i start listening this amazing group manchester band the lyrics style and voice until now I'm 50 yrs old still rockin...RIP Andy rourke thank you for contribution to the band".m..🎸😍🤙🇵🇭🇩🇪
I fucking love the smiths mega underrated each band member is just doing there thing I can listen to any part of the song and find the groove, so tight, we need more bands..
The Smiths is that rare case when EVERY member is on his right place and doing his job with maximum possible care. Together they have become so powerful thing! Andy was very important part of it. His bass lines are something that will make move everyone! So sad to hear that his time has come, but I don’t want to be sad about it. I’m happy and thankful for all of those wonderful songs, that I will love for all my life.
Andy did not write single bad bass part for Smiths, all of them could be featured. The man was one of the best players ever. I do dare say that, he was a genius
The Smiths’ songs are so beautifully complex, everything fits together so perfectly, god knows what angels and planets had to align to give us that band, but wow. And I couldn’t get that fckn guitar sound no matter how much I tried, as a young ‘un. At least the behs came out better!
My top 7 Andy bass lines: 7. Heaven knows I’m miserable now 6. Bigmouth strikes again 5. There is a light 4. Girlfriend in a coma 3. This Charming man 2. Barbarism begins at home 1. The Queen is dead
The moment I realised the genius of Andy Rourke: attempting to learn the bassline to Headmaster Ritual. Try it, you'll see what I mean! RIP Andy, you legend 😔
Why am i just hearing now, via this video? 😢. Is there any decent music related source? (i did find out about Steve from Pulp the very day it happened tho)

He definitely wasn't underrated
I love him to death, but he isn't underrated. He's (thankfully) well recognized and well respected for his fantastic bass work with The Smiths.

Barbarism Begins at Home is my favorite of Andy’s base lines. He really carries the band on this one.
One of the best bass lines ever
Absolutely is…. When at a club you have to dance
It was Jonny marr who did the bass line on that record
@@Youngboyabloh Andy made the bass line by himself, later the rest of the band made the song around the bass line

His lines blend in so well with johnny's guitar
Back to the old house is my favorite bassline by him. So simple but so beautiful
That tone is crisp.
Good choices. He was so integral to their sound. It has taken me years to learn some of his bass lines but it’s worth the effort.
“This night has opened my eyes” is a stunning Rourke bass line.

You missed “William It Was Really Nothing”. My favourite Andy line.
Just stumbled across this video
My girlfriend got me into the smiths
Such a sad loss
Wish I had seen him when he was playing the bass for mister brown
This night has opened my eyes …?

6. Bigmouth strikes again
5. There is a light
4. Girlfriend in a coma

I leaned his bass line on This Charming Man without realizing it was done with a pick 😂
Andy is the Best
Nice tribute mate.
Well I Wonder is a great one.
I underestimated Andy’s incredible creative bass importance to the smiths..
Well I wonder should be on there
you forgot the headmaster ritual...
Barbarism remains just as jaw-dropping now as it was in 1985. Like Bootsy Collins woke up one day to find he'd joined T-Rex by accident.
Now make andy rourke bass seting
Barbarism slaps so hard
He's only 59! RiP
