You are the first curly to compare. I have both now myself. I have found that the thinner gaped one is good for separating my curls in the back of my head, but the thicker gaped one is better for the top of my head and around my face. When I use the thinner one around my face it looks too stringy. I know you can totally relate to different hair types on different parts or your head. Been waiting for this video. Was thinking of doing a side by side on myself just to see if there was a difference..😂 ❤🎉❤ Thank you
Thanks for the coupon code! I just ordered mine! I have very thick, very dense hair, so I think this will help me separate my curl clumps. You always have the BEST, most informative videos. I no longer watch anyone else's because they are not as well researched as yours. All the time and effort you invest in your videos SHOWS! Thanks!
I have the first Bounce Curl brush and I have a Denman brush. I personally found just combing my hair and scrunching works better for me than brush styling. Thanks for this video!
thanks for the review! Maybe it’s just me but I’ve really wanted to love the original bounce curl brush, but it’s just not the one which with I have the best results with for my high density, coarse, curly hair: I get much better results with the tangle teezer brush then separating my curls with a wide tooth comb, or the denman brush and I seperate the curls with a comb too. I prefer the new brush from bounce curl too. All of those brushes, give me a much better definition and volume than the original bounce curl brush, because I guess my hair prefers smaller curl clumps. A rake and shake method gives me very similar results than with my tangle teezer but without the comb.
I’ve seen the Twist Sunday Feels at the Dollar Tree but the size might be smaller. Still it’s nice to see them when they do have in stock. Sometimes TJ Maxx or Marshals have them. I see CurlSmith all the time at Marshall’s and T.J.MAXX.
Hi Gena! Super helpful video! I've been using the original one & love the ease of brush styling. I'm literally done in 5 mins! But I bought the new one yesterday. I'm anxious to use it b/c I struggle with thinning hair, I can see my scalp, and I'm very self-conscious about it! I will try the new one tonight & lyk how it went! TY! 🤩
I literally just bought one yesterday, and I couldn’t decide which one I should get and thought to myself “I wish Gena had a video on this” 😭😭😭 Thankfully I got the volume one and from this video it looks like I made the right choice!
@@TechLuvnMomma do you like ghe results? I bought mine and still waiting for it toa rrive- unfortunately if would take a month, but I will report back on the results
wow that's amazing 🤩 may i know what curly hair type u are? mine are 3b-3c & I've medium long hair - not so thin & not so thick which type of hairbrush will good for me? I'm worried about wasting my money by making the wrong decision 😢
Thank you for all your detailed information! I have the original and I still haven't mastered it. I feel like even that one can make my curls stringy so the new one probably wouldn't work for me. But I'm always tempted to try new things in search of perfect curls!
Wow Gena ! I am definitely going to get the newer one now. I have the original version but my curls are kinda stringy too. My curl pattern is different from yours but more curly than larger waves.Thank you soo much. I had gotten some Twist products on a big sale. I’ve been trying the Curls Blueberry Bliss with the Quidad gel and I get some good hold. It’s always fun to experiment. Thanks for the discount code.
I have coarse, medium- to high density hair with loose curls, mostly waves. Just above shoulder length. I can’t seem to figure out which one would be best for me?😅
I really liked this video. I have both brushes. I stopped using the define one after a while bc my fine, low density curls would clump too much in big clumps with that brush so it made my low density more noticeable. I find the volume encourages lots of small curls for me and it makes my hair look more full. I now use the defining brush on my daughter who has long, thick, wavy hair.
What I see is that both sides are very similar. Both sides looks very good, and I would say that the left side seems to have more bounce curls and shine. So far it’s been the first video where compared the original and the generic ones and like I said, both sides look great 👍
i prefer the volume brush! i had the define one first like almost everyone and the clumps where to big, wheiged my hair down much more, i do have reclumping of several strands with both brushes when the cast is scrunched out, but still prefer the volume one!
Excellent video, Gena! Do you recommend using both brushes at the same time, (rotating back and forth between the two brushes)? Doing one section with the define brush and the next section with the volume brush?
I didn't get the original as the gaps would clump my 4 hairs 😂, but I so want the volume one. Your hair was perfect with it. I wished they didn't have the little beads. Thanks for the review.
I love the new brush way better , you get more options cuz the top is wider if you rather that and top sides are smaller which I would probably want more. And most people have different curl patterns in their hair so a lot might use both the top and sides while styling
Hey Gena, I saw one of your UA-cam videos about why curly hair changes its curl pattern and I have some questions. You said if you have iron deficiency, as well as vitamin d and b12, my question is I have iron deficiency which means low iron which means I don't have enough of it. So I start eating more foods with iron in them or taking iron supplement pills. Could my curl pattern change from 3c-4a to 3c-3b or another? My other question is if that doesn't work does putting a relaxer on my hair change my curl pattern to go to 3b permanently and if so how do I keep my hair healthy after that?
The volume does BOTH on my have Baby Fine low D hair ❤❤ When the clump and define came out, it was the first brush that worked ...but I wished that the tines were closer because my hair liked small clumps....and then 😇📯 cause it came out. 🤯 I get tiny curlie Q's. I will probably use them both for different looks. But get the volume one as it has a bigger space at the top of you have fine hair & smaller clumps. If you have very fine, low density hair, I have also found that in innersence I create volume combined with I create definition. Foam is the greatest hold and is so lightweight but the hold from the definition one is equal to the end. Shower styler by cruel Smith. I use two pumps of each on the whole of my hair, so it really lasts quite a while. You can also play with proportions of the two of them to get different looks and it does make a difference if you like brush through it with the definition and then scrunching the foam or do the other or combine them. Oh two other great things about those brushes. You can spray them down with some water and use it to run through your hair in the morning if you need to get rid of some frizz.
Right now the V&Co ones I featured in last week's video. Did you see that? I'll link it here: ua-cam.com/video/wYPPZnLotdw/v-deo.html&pp=gAQBiAQB And the products: genamarie.co/2024/07/7-mistakes-that-are-ruining-your-curls-this-summer-vco/
do you find that your washdays last longer/shorter depending on which brush you use? my instinct is the define one would last longer, but please share if you have a chance! love your videos :)
@PandoricaLost Practice definitely helps. I find the smaller I section, the better curl I get. Also brush section well before final run with the styling brush. Good luck curl friend 🧡

I hope they will come out with a mini version of this brush, either for travel or for people with short hair (like me).
Yes that would be perfect
I thought this very same thing! For me, I want to be able to lift & separate the hairs right at my scalp for better root volume.
Thank you for mentioning curl clump sizes.
