I've listened to this song over a hundred times. When I first heard it I laughed so hard it hurt and thought to myself "wow, that was humorous and dumb." After the 30th time, I started feeling a deep, unsettling fear when listening to this. This song has multiple layers of complexity that you can dissect by focusing on different things to listen to with each play. It's eerie, dark, anarchistic, and completely instinctual. To appreciate this, you cannot think about what you're seeing...you have to feel it. The depicted party activities go against societal rules and expectations for what a backyard party is supposed to be. It's Crazy Clown Time and I love it!

elephant man = drama: eraserhead = fantasy drama: mulholland drive = excellent: dune = sci fi: wild at heart = brilliant: lost highway = outstanding and captivatting: blue velvet = weird and wonderfull: the straight story = shows d lynche,s versatilaty: inland empire = pure genius: a few choice moments of cinamatic brilliance. Ok, not to everyone's liking, i get it. this to me encapsultes the genius of d lynch. i read some of the other comments and just had to have my say. if you think d lynch is a bit off the wall, well that his individual genius and in my mind he is film making genius. i like pinkys dream as well. he spent a long while becoming a song writter just to develop hie own style. that is hie style, entirley his. he can do no wrong in my eyes. this video is truly his work and i love it!

  • @rubiumproductions

I interpreted this as more sensory than anything else. to me Lynch is trying to capture the feeling of slowly getting drunk at a party. it starts fairly tame and sober with a couple of risque moments (As is usually the thing with any good party) before devolving into an almost euphoric and terrifying madness. complete with the overexaggerations and gaps in the memory that both alcohol and David Lynch can cause xD
I really liked it personally...probably still a bit too literal but thats my 10 cents...

Well done. I would like to take it a step further and imagine it's commentary on the way we revert back to that childish state when we're partying like mad and have no idea what is going on in that moment. We have a complete mental breakdown and regress for the night, and that is erased when we wake up slapped with a hangover and are forced to face the reality of real life again.
