I had a 1975 1.8 with the dual webbers..5 speed trans. Birsh exhaust ..most fun car I ever had .you had to drive one to really know. Then I had 2 kids…game over.
Wow, someone didn't attempt to hide the fender flares at all! Hahah! Way to go! Love it! Jay Leno even got it wrong when reviewing a 914-6 and said the owner 'added; the fender flares and the owner was kind enough not to correct Jay Leno. Hahah! Check it, totally true.
I got a 914 1.7 , sitting garage for 30 years , i never liked the way steering got light over 90’ , great car , hang on to it , battery in the front , air in tire works the washer system , etc.
For the gauges, it looks like the tach and speedo are out of a 911. Probably the one that motor came out of. The 914-6 tach has the redline from 6200-6400 only not 6200-7k. The 914-6 Speedo was a 150mph not a 160 mph. It is clean just not 914-6 specific
Beautiful 914. Not sure if I would go with the riveted fender flares which gives the car a more purpose built custom look or if I’d spend the extra time and money on doing welded on steel flares. Either way looks good. Overall this looks like it’s a great lightly modified 914-6.
I just learned about these cars. I don’t know anything about the gt edition. Seems awesome. I’ve never liked 914s like most people but I feel they are making a comeback. I’m talking about the four cylinder ones. Of course anyone would love to get their hands on a six and especially a gt. Were all the six’s gt’s? How rare are the GT’s? And who made them?
Title includes "Rothsport," so Rothsport Racing may be the company that converted a 914-4 into the 914-6 "tribute" car in the video. It's a beautiful car and it sounds like they set it up exactly the way you would want it done. I owned a 914-4 in college, it was fun to drive, handled great, felt fast and sounded fast, but it was actually quite slow. Dropping a 3.2 liter 6, better transmission and an LSD into it would have made the car much quicker. There is also a Las Vegas based company, Renegade Hybrids, that does fantastic V8 conversions.
So many great attention to detail like the factory six steering column and ignition key location, but then the riveted flares... Clearly intentional and not a "short cut" but not my cup of tea.

Looks exactly like my old 3.2. I miss that car deeply
Yeah...we're gonna need to hear it

Every modification done is according to your budget and taste.
Like sitting on a skateboard. Wicked little cars though.
I would like to see the 916 bumpers with the 916 flares

it's not a 914-6, it's a 914 with a replacement engine. you would never mod a true 914-6 this way; every change reduces its value.
Sharp!
Is that for sale?

@@carljung9230 it’s not a factory original 914-6 but it’s a six cylinder GT style custom.
I really like 914✌
start it up!
Super Auto...👍😍

This is a GT clone. There are just 16 REAL GT cars out there.
@@Wayzor_ oh 😮 the real ones must be worth a fortune.
@@Wayzor_ oh wait. I think it’s a real 914-6 it’s just not a GT

The 914 never came with a 3.2L six.
Very nice😊
Why are most fender flares attached with rivets these days?
Because it's quicker and easier than welding. For me, it would mean an instant NO on a 914 (or pretty much any car) if I were considering a purchase.

Nice!
Price range of course.
@@ericagersborg5029 $70k ? I’ll take a GT350 Mustang
I want one,how much do decent used ones sell for with pushrod chevy and 6 speeds cost?
a decent one with a VW 1.7 will run you 10-20k now unfortunately, 5 years ago 1-5k.
A V8 would ruin the car.
Hey , sehr schönes Fahrzeug ..........
Riveted flares🤦♂️
Nice GT clone.
