I also have a FREE three part video series teaching you HOW TO READ MUSIC FOR DRUMS. You can watch the first part on UA-cam here... ua-cam.com/video/dhVsbb61CpY/v-deo.html
If it helps, I've found that just focusing on the snare and the bass of each phrase is the best way to get the good of the song, the fills you can either learn what you think they are, if their iconic you'll probably have a fair idea and will easily find accurate tutorials, and the rest you can do very easily by listening lots of that band and interview/demos of that drummer and get inside their head, you'll be surprised how well you can play a song to where YOUR happy with it. And I know it seems obvious, but listening to that song a lot aswell as loving that song, goes along way in avoid stress and making learning the song a lot more enjoyable, you may be surprised at how often you learn songs you don't truly love or know that well
Great advices, thx so much! For me as a beginner a video on simplifying fills etc. would be very helpful, for example what you did at 30:40. if you could show some more/different examples that would be really great!
Thanks for the suggestion, Dany. Glad you like the video. I have a video just on beginner drum fills here if you're interested... ua-cam.com/video/A48H0gKkwHk/v-deo.html This is part of my beginner pack which you can purchase in full from my website. Let me know if you have any questions! Rob
Good stuff. No need to send examples...I believe you. Good to know there are so many pieces of software out there available to us drummers. Thanks for your input, Robbie!
A song I would love to see a drum tutorial for Metropolis: Pt 1, The Miracle and The Sleeper. It's by Dream Theater and it's really crazy and long. I've been trying to learn it for a long time, and it would be so helpful to see a video on it. Also, I love your videos, and keep up the great work! Tldr, Metropolis: Pt 1, The Miracle and The Sleeper. Love your vids. Bye!
I might be able to do some mini free lesson on parts of the song in the future. I do want to do some DT in the future! Thanks for your kind support and interest! Rob

One thing I’ve learnt, drum cams and UA-cam half speed is a great learning tool .

Fantastic. Thank you

I recommend MuseScore for notation, it's free software. 🙂
Do you use this for writing your own drum notation? How do you find it?
Yes, I do. It took some getting used to but now it works well for me. I'll send you an example transcription via Facebook.

Thanks for all the tips! May I ask which drum kit are you using here?
Thanks, Pier. It's a Roland kit but I forget the model number. Thanks for your interest!
Do you know of a software that can isolate the drumming somewhat in a song ?
I don't know of any software. Sorry.
Moises app
where is the music
Kinda disappointed with the ABSOLUTE LACK of drum content for The Runaways. Anyone have any suggestions?
