Well sung, your rhythm, totally felt the Ghost Notes during your vocal rendition. 20, 000 ppl would be happy if you’d beatbox as their Fill-In drummer.
Dude, this is super helpful. Thank you so much! A while back I started picking up gigs to make ends meet and I would literally go into those gigs blind. 90% of the songs I had never played before and most of those I hadn't even heard. Even though people always said "Dude! That was amazing!" or whatever, I never felt good about it. But I just don't have the time to practice EVERY SINGLE SONG, so I just started trying out chart writing yesterday, and wow, it was a mess. Lmao. I watched a couple of other videos but this one to me is the most practical for actually using sheets live. Can't wait to give this a go. Thanks again!
Awesome dude. I been working on a similar method and it’s totally helping. I charting last minute now and got some good ideas from your video. I’m glad took a break and watched your video. Thanks! Really nice playing too!
How about a video on how You tune your snare or toms after placing a new head. Love this video, Brandon. I try to chart out songs when I can, but most of the time I am listening and memorizing. I don’t read music that well, but know the basics. I learn everything by ear. More charting videos please, when you can of course. Cheers!
this system is ok for click digital musicians, it basically means staring at a tablet thru out the gig and not connecting with the audience. the old skool way is listening to vocals, listening to emotions loud=angry, andif u know the lyrics, the u know when changes come, for examples of this watch james brown live, when he walks to the mic and grabs it, that signals the band to start the song rolling andit rolls until he releases a key word in the lyrics, like take it to the bridge.
I freakin love your videos. Also, youtube been hittin me with the old stuff and its really cool to see where you came from to now. Keep it up man. You rock.
Great video, Brandon. I often think about how to learn tunes quickly, and unfortunately, listening to them, as naseum, has been my mode of operation. After watching this video, I'm gonna give your way a try. It looks like a really good way. Thanks for the video!
This is done so well that ANYone who watches this video would be able to play this song correctly!!! Nice Job B.!!! Hope all is well with you and the Mrs. down there in the S.A. Stay well my friend!!!
Hey Brandon, Inm watching your videos since a little amount of time and I just wanted to say that your work here is so neat and clear ! You're a very good content creator so, keep it straight !
I'm a guitar player and this helped me a lot. Most of the time I just need to write out the form and the Scale Degrees for the chords and I can get what I need from that. Its your use of space which is really clever and useful. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for this Brandon. This will saves me time and paper. I can't thank you enough. I'm starting to learn drums and I want get use of reading sheets and sometimes it's hard to read the sheets online. I
I had a 30 song gig and wasted so much paper trying to chart I thought mine was simple I came home like “I need to change this up...” This video pops up! 🤘🏾🤘🏾
Mannnn thank you so much for posting this🙏🏾😩. I saw something like this in one of your old clips and I’ve been hoping you’d give us an inside look to how you go about it... Great stuff as usual💯 🤙🏾
Thanks a lot! Could you do an example with killing on the name or highway star please? Some song more complex to help me understand and hear the differents parts 🙏💥 thanks for everything and cheers from Argentina
Been drumming awhile just starting to wrap my brain around charting. I'm OCD too and Im realizing its going to be easier and more efficient for me in the long run! Do you do virtual lessons? I need to break through and have my ah-ha moment!! It will free me for life lol! I'm working on a few songs with my bass player who comes over my place to jam, And I'd like to start with 1 or 2 of those songs on our list
@@brandonscott3297 No seriously, techniques and all the other stuff are helpfull but nobody did this and you did ! I always wondered how you could know all this songs so quickly, now i know THANK YOU!
Awesome! I'm not a drummer but I'm thinking about ways to adapt this e.g. for guitar. Super helpful shorthand. If there's more content like this on your channel I'll def subscribe :)
Nice. Under "make it your own", how do you approach taking any liberties in such a role? Do you try and slip in some very cool extra hits that don't change the rhythm as much as enhance it, sort of "ask for forgiveness, not permission", or do you approach the gig and have a dialogue about that beforehand? Again, I'm not talking about rewriting their music to a whole new beat, but rather finding some spots based on YOUR SKILL you bring to the table to enhance it?
You can do the same thing but right out the numbers or numerals if you play by the number system / chord progressions / nashville system, etc. For example most songs are 1-5-6-4
Wow, this is great! Even for a beginner who’s trying to jam to some songs. Though I’d prob need to chart the fills somehow cos I’m not great at fills...yet lols
Brother your method is fantastic! Killer! But...what about stops and starts? Not the “creative” ones, but the ones that really need to be in the song? (Or pinches also). Where are those on the charting? (Like in that tune you did. The stops before the chorus’). What do you do for those?👍🏼🇨🇦
Hello, thank you for your lesson, very useful. I'm charting songs myself but it looks not so simple like this. How about stop times, do you write down moments like this?
I typically do write in stops as well... I didn't go as in depth as i probably should. If you take a look at the sheet i previously charted at the beginning of the video i write in more details regarding breaks and what the drums are doing.
Dude, LOVE your short hand method for charting. I was wasting way too much space with mine. Totally using this! Thanks.
Thanks Jeff! It's helped me a ton! Glad you've found this helpful!
Instablaster...
I follow both channels. I like how you wacth each other!
You are both great!
@@william_mariano Thanks Will!
My favorite part was that bug flying around dodging all your cymbal crashes.
One of the most practical drum lessons i've seen this year. thanks so much
Great lesson I will use this from now on. Been playing since 7 drum 🥁 s and now 67.I always learn something new. Thanks 🙏
And here am i using real music sheet and wasting one page for each song... i'm dumb, i'm gonna do this from now on LOL thanks Brandon!
Haha so did i until i saw this
Sameeee
You still doing it this way?
Well sung, your rhythm, totally felt the Ghost Notes during your vocal rendition. 20, 000 ppl would be happy if you’d beatbox as their Fill-In drummer.
Man i was touched by your level of humility , you really inspire me bro.

I’m a guitar player and this lesson still helped me learn something 👏🏾
What's your favorite way of charting songs for guitar?
Write the BPM and time signature on the sheet! Nice vid. I do it the same way!
I think this is one of the important lessons drummer needs to learn after sinking the basics! Thank you
You should teach this in Drumeo. A lot of drummers like us will like to see you in it. 🥁 awesome lesson thank you!

Thank you for this lesson. I'm gonna use it to save myself this coming Easter since I have a lot of songs to do. Thanks again

Dude! Thank you so much I've been looking for a quick way to jot down notes to help myself stay on track.

Omg dude you killed it at the end! That was nice!!!
So simple and so genius bro! Love this!
This has helped me a lot with me learning tonnes of new songs! Except if it’s Rush. That’s different
Thanks so much! I play for my church and this is so helpful
Outstanding! Perfect for the visual quick reference. I use a similar system, but this is more space efficient. Thanks Brandon!
it always works. I use a different notation more like 4/4, crazy break, double pedal fast, slow :)) and so on. but always works!
This is so, so useful. Been needing this for a long time. Thanks!
OmG! I know this is gonna be sO useful to me and all the friends & kids I’ll tell. Thanks for the lesson Brandon 🙌🏼 PeaCe! ✌🏼😊

You are awesome drummer and good guy, thanks
Brilliant drumming
Just basic awesome stuff. Great!
cool lesson! it would be nice when you make a lesson about "reading original drum tracks/creative work"
Back here, cause I'm now charting drums for personal practice, it's a muscle I'm building for when i need to pull this out
Great video thanks for the info it helped me immensely 🥁
would like to see a video on preventing slapback on the kick drum - is it the pedal, the head or the player?
Great, practical lesson. Thank you.
Great video! Thanks for share this info with us!
Very helpful lesson! Much thanks!!

Thanks man🙏🏻
Great chart ♥️
Im using this for the bass, works well but obvious with bass Ive got to write out the notes as well. But better and quicker than what Ive been using

Good video mate, More tips for being professional Session drummers, like this video
Good stuff man…but I was looking for a method to chart songs for guitar.
Wow. Thats really helpful.
This is awesome! Looking forward to try it. Whats your left crash? Sounds great! 🥁
What kind of pens are you using? I like the ink thickness, it's easy on the eyes.
Could you show how to right out rattle by elevation worship and Worthy ?
Good method👍
Very Useful.
Cool lesson
Thanks! How do you chart longer songs? Just adding more space for the patterns and the song structure sections?
What notes did you write in your chart to identify side stick vs snare and what fills to use?
Nice!
Lesson on “flow” and breaking in that kick stutter to 16th Triplet chops
