They made a huge mistake taking away the twin clocks and replacing with the modern Trident clock! Doesn't have that killer retro feel anymore and the paint jobs are a disaster. Not sure what they were thinking but obviously they weren't thinking! The good news is, I will save money buying a left over 2024 in a showroom somewhere and slapping Ohlins on it! Love your channel!
For me it is clear: they want to bring the success of the 400s to the 1200s. The new Speed Twin is placed as a big Speed 400 and not as the original Speed Twin, which stands for its own.
Totally agree, what a cock-up. The Thruxton was universally acknowledged as peak design of the Bonneville series, and Triumph have really missed the boat on this as a substitute.
Agree 100%. The train clocks are so sexy and classy. Couldnt they have incorporated tech into those 2 clocks??? I don’t hate the new paint schemes though.
Agreed, i have the same with Nitron suspension both ends, Tec bike parts cam, airbox eliminator, decat and adjusted fueling. The extra HP with the RS i wouldn't use as i usually don't have any need to go above 5,500 rpm. I also altered the gearing as the Std gearing was way to low for me. The cut outs in the tank presumably for a better turning circle aren't to my liking on this RS and the 400 models. What needs to happen for a major upgrade is a serious diet getting the weight closer to the 765RS, yes i understand a different engine. I feel they are trying to somehow replace the Thruxton, that had stopped selling once the Speed Twin came into play. So how is this supposed to generate sales? The single clock would be a deal breaker for me.
The 2019 Speed Twin was the bike that got me onto a motorcycle. To me it is what a bike should be. (I own a Silver Ice 2020, btw.) I am not sure the "MKIII" , either version, would have the same impact. The base seems like a downgrade in many ways and the RS is a Thruxton wanna be. I am disappointed, but it doesn't really matter because I am keeping my 2020 for a long time.
Well as I thought we are all thinking the exact same thing!! We've all been asking for soo long for all these updates if we should call them updates & i totally agree with everything you have said & once again this bike i will not be buying on just my reasons? 1 the colour scheme is hideous & they never colour the whole bike in the same colours ie the tank front & rear mudguards & side panels in the same colour!!🙄 The Clocks are ridiculous for this bike & the riders position sounds more like a Thruxton which none of us old fellas want!!🙄 Triumph have done its self no favours in this update silly silly Triumph!!😬 Glad we are on the same page RocketMan!!👍🏻
@RocketMan_Moto Yep we'll I will be very interesting in your opinion if you get to test ride one not that I would even consider buying one with how it even looks in them hideous colour schemes!!🤮
Yep agree 100% I'll be getting a new 2024 with the right dual clocks! Put Ohlins on rear and new exhaust system and it will be nicer than the hideous 2025!
As an older rider, I recall clearly my reaction on the release of the hideous paint schemes of the 1971 oil in frame models. Disastrous decision at the time by the marketing team at Triumph, and we all correctly predicted that sales would nosedive. Seems like we have deja vu all over again (to quote Yogi Berra). Plus, the new “clock” is hideous. Real shame to have squandered what could have been a great opportunity to build on the success of the previous models. Just have to wonder who is in charge of market research at Triumph, and how they could have got it so wrong. I’ll be keeping my 2024 Speed Twin (which I really like) for longer than I had planned.
I've been so close to buying the current MY24 but knew an upgrade was coming so have held off. I'm very grateful Triumph released the information early. Having seen the 25 bike I just could not live with that single dial. It's something you have to look at constantly and knowing how beautiful the old ones were you'd be forever disappointed. So this weekend I've been out and bought a brand new 24 model at a serious deal. There are a few about in the UK. I've now got £4k in change from what I'd have to have spent on the RS to upgrade my suspension and buy some new kit. Very happy.
My 8+ year old seat on my Thruxton R still looks great. My now 101 horsepower Thruxton R still better equipped and more stylish than the Speed Twin RS. I'll be 71 in a few weeks and find I'm good for 200 mile days on the open road but probably only 100 miles in slow city traffic.
I fully agree with your assessment. I would add that I dislike the flatter headlight that looks like the XSR900's, and I find appalling that the specs of the basic model are significantly downgraded compared to the MY2024, while it comes with a higher price tag. The specs of the RS are better, but I don't want of a cafe racer bike for my daily commute. Most of all, the Trident's modern clock is a poor replacement compared to the previous dual analogue clocks; and why the offset to the left? No thank you Triumph, I will keep my ST 2023 and will rather put my money on upgraded shocks.
I’ve made a sweet deal this year on a brand new Scrambler XE orange Baja, no keyless, no plastic fenders , excellent front suspensions and stylema front calipers, made possible to add heated grips, a proper side bag from Triumph installed, the cruise control is stock on this model and I didn’t pay what they’re requiring for this speed twin 1200 RS. I’m served from Triumph bikes👌🏻
That trident dash looks really crappy even compared to my XSR 700, so putting that on a bike this expensive is completely unacceptable in my book. BMW manages to have all the tech nonsense on their R nineT while still having a good looking analog dash, so Triumph has no excuse! Though if you ask me I wouldn't want ride modes or anything like that on a retro bike anyways. Just give me ABS and maybe a quickshifter and nothing more than that.
I’m with you on the riding position. The previous mod had an excellent comfortable riding position. Now the seat height has increased which sucks because I’m short.
Completely agree, that clock does not suit what is to me a retro style bike. I own a Kawasaki RS and the thing that sold it to me is the twin clocks, after all that’s the part of the bike you see when riding.
I've just rented the Kawasaki 900 RS for a week and took it on a tour - it looks great and runs incredible. Not fond of four cylinder engines and it is a bit heavy for city use - so probably not buying my own. But I have been riding it for about 1000 kilometers this week on country roads in Northeast Germany (between Berlin and the baltic coast) and the power is incredible.
I just sold my 2020 Speed Twin. The motor was fantastic, I loved the torque of that engine. However, it wasn't practical for the type of riding I am now doing. I agree with many of your thoughts and comments. The biggest concern with the new up-spec RS is the more aggressive riding position. I also don't care for the new graphics on the gas tank nor the single speedo.
If I wasn't fortunate enough to already own the Thruxton "Ton Up" I'd definitely go for the Speed Twin RS. Quick shifter and cruise control would be marvelous. The TFT could have been nicer. Maybe come up with an original design, instead of being borrowed from the Trident. Having clip-ons as an option is great. Now I wonder if my buddies with older ones would be tempted. Some I know have or have had 3rd party CC. I'd get one if not for my Thruxton.
The bullet sattle with synthetic wild leather is quite hot. I hope it is compatible to the 2024 one and I think so. The angle does not have impact on the sattle. Maybe I will have a try at my triumph dealer 😊. It would perfectly fit to the bullet lights from my customization.
I have a 2023 1200 Speed Twin with matt orange tank..You either love it or loathe the colour.. I like it. I would like the quick shifter, Ohlins rear suspension & cruise control but not worry about the rest. Do Not like the new paint scheme. I will keep my 2023 model and put some Ohlins rear suspension on it. I have a new Ducati Diavel V4 & BMW R1200R for touring so do not need to ride it far distances. I did insert a gel pad in the seat without changing the overall contour of the seat shape and that helps considerably.
I hate it, I think they have ruined the speed twin. The dash is awful. All they had to do was release an RS version as follows - ohliins all round, twin tft dash, akropovic twin pipes, quick shifter, more power than the mark 2, and optional clip ons. Leave the mark 2 as it is. Reduce the price a smidge to $20990 AUD and price the RS a good $5k more than the standard. Easy.
I agree, Steve. How/why do these professionals get it so wrong. All the Speed needed, as you say, was a couple of tweaks. A quick shifter is nice, but if you have to reposition the footpegs to make room for it and stare at that poxy clock then no, we'll manage without.
Some good points here, although I don’t have a problem with the single clock. Gives it a cleaner, old-school look. My 2007 Bonneville had the single clock too, and was a fantastic bike. I now have a 2019 Speed Twin (in the best color scheme of red/black) and don’t see a big reason to upgrade to the new RS.
I bought the 2020 ST because it was the perfect bastard child between a T120 and a Thruxton. Sporty and comfortable at the same time. Now they are turning the RS into a Thruxton again, just naked, slap on the clip ons and a headlight fairing and we are back at square one. A regular ST with suspension upgrades is basically the RS everyone wanted, not this Thruxton wannabe.
I agree with you, RM, I think the sportier riding position is the biggest turn off. If it was my money I would be going down the used market route and customizing to make it mine!
@@RocketMan_Moto quit possibly, I liked what you did with that bike. I think I would go for a Euro 4 model so I could change the exhaust and decat the bike, then upgrade the forks and shocks for thrusting spec, raise the bars a bit and lower the pegs to accommodate my arthritis and then let it evolve 😀👍
I still like the red and black paint scheme on my 2019 Speed Twin ! The paint schemes since 2021 don't really do it for me . Well your respray looked good from youtube, but that wasn't "official Triumph" !! The extra rev range before hitting the rev limiter would be nice, and it looks like the suspension has been improved. The riding position geometry of my Mk1 is okay to me . I'd tried the Thruxtons of 2020 ->21 ish , way too extreme for my mid 50s body ! The Triumph official gumph says the RS has a "more focused riding position". Sounds like I might not like it ! I would like the cruise control and quick shifter. I miss those from the 1050 Speed Triple I had for a couple of years (Mrs Karl-osh wouldn't get on the back of it , so it didn't get ridden much !) I love the twin clocks on my 2019 speed twin, don't want the clocks off the Trident ! Triumph just need to look at what Kawasaki did with twin clocks and some LCD on the Z900RS. Something like that could work rather than the bargain basement Trident clock. I really doubt if I'll pay the upgrade cost from my 2019 to get a 2024 variant, and the mono clock is a bit of a deal breaker. Now if Triumph made a 1050 -> 1200 cc Triple engined retro, that looks like the speed twin, with a 120 degree crank ( and not the T plane one ), then they could have me willing to open my wallet , and let the moths out , and see if there's any cash for the upgrade !
This is a bike I also wanted to love but the choice of typeface for ‘1200’, scale and positioning don’t really do justice to the elegant lines of the bike. Same with the barcode stripes on the orange version, less really is more, it looks over fussy and over ‘designed’. I fear they gave messed it up but I hope to be wrong about that, it might be just in my eyes and Triumph know a lot more about bikes than I ever will 😊 I bloody love my Scrambler 900.
Yet another great video RM! Love your channel! I bought a 22 ST in part based on your ownership/review, then added Ohlins shocks based on your review and am now considering upgrading the forks. Or get the new RS, but share all your thoughts and concerns. I'd love the quick shifter and Cruise control, but not the new dash and more sporting riding position. Looking forward to your review of the new RS.
That’s very humbling, Vincent. Thank you. The Speed Twin is a fabulous bike (as you know), but the new clock? The hardcore riding position? The new colour options? It will be interesting to see what it’s like to ride👍😊
On the face of it I would agree that the Mk1 had the better colour options and together with the MK2 improvements made the bike appealing to me.The lack of factory softluggage options did hamper my interest in the bike. The new bike with it's barcode paintwork, single instrument and more extreme riding position potentially make this is a no-no for me. The cynic in me wonders if this is just a marketing exercise to hike the price.
I agree with your wrap-up remarks. The new colorway is just to say "It's different!" and isn't very appealing or fitting for a retro, IMO. They could have just added the shifter and electronics and called it a day. The single instrument is a turnoff. Higher pegs would cramp my 34" inseam ... I was already feeling that when I test rode the previous iteration. All that said, it's still a standout bike for me. So was the Thruxton.
I agree with your initial thoughts. QS, IMU and Öhlins are welcomed but the budget Fisher Price clock and questionable pre-school paintjobs are definite letdowns. Surely, someone could come up with a better solution to incorporate the newly upgraded electronics into an "analogue-style" dash? Even maintaining an analogue needle over a TFT background would help so much with the aesthetics. Triumph's own recent limited Stealth editions with the fade paintjob looks so much more premium on this supposed premium bike in their range. The new colourways ranks right up there with the trendy and forgettable fluro stripes they they were enamoured with for far too many years. Such a shame.
I have a T100 and have always felt that the twin clocks suit that retro look along with the T120. However, I've always felt that the Speed Twin is a more modern, naked, street bike so think the new touches including the dash suit it better. I'm not keen on the new colourways though and would probably plump for the new bullet seat and a respray.
Thanks for your input. The clock could be worse, and I think it’s required now to handle the extra electronics, but I still prefer the old two- clock setup👍😊
THE BEST design feature of of my 2019 ScramblerXE is the lack of the tank pinch weld. Why ALL of the classics don’t get that smooth, clean and beautiful finish…I wil never get it. My Speed400 is black/silver and the pinch weld kind of disappears, but on any other color…ugh! I still want to add the RS to the stable next year!
I knew it! As soon as I saw the new Speed Twin 1200 I knew that the Rocketman would not resist commenting :) I have never truly considered the Speed Twin 1200 because I would never consider buying a new motorcycle without quickshift or cruise control. But Triumph has adressed it for 2025. To be honest I think Triumph nailed it, everything that was needed on the Speed Twin 1200 has been introduced. And the paint scheme of the RS is the best yet on a Speed Twin. For me it has only one gripe, at €18.000 (with the cruise control) is expensive when compared to the cheaper Street triple 765RS or the slighty more expensive, but undoubtedly more premium, Speed Triple 1200RS. But hey, what's the price of the beautiful classic looks? Triumph is on a roll lately. Oh, I had the same tought as you regarding the suede seat, it will probably not last long.
@@RocketMan_Moto but that is true for any motorcycle. All these retro motorcycles are overpriced to be honest. But probably because they are bought by older and wealthier riders.
In a perfect world Triumph could have incorporated the small tft into the twin clock setup to interface with the new electronics. Which then could further be used on the T100, T120, Speedmaster, Bobber… but instead we got something from the parts bin. I also can’t justify the cost of the 1200RS when I can get an XSR900 for $5k less with more power and equivalent or better electronics. So many great retro/ naked bikes on the market for significantly less money.
Having just bought a new 2023 model back in April, I’m a little bummed that they’ve now released the RS. My modification plans include a full suspension swap and a tune which will bring it up to speed with this new one. Nothing to be done about foot peg placement unfortunately, I quite like the new sportier position. All that being said, I don’t feel the need to trade up. Big fan of the new bikes, but I agree with most, the new clock is not the right move. Maintaining the dual clocks but with an updated appearance, perhaps a larger digital element would have been a wiser choice.
I bought the dual comfort seat with Alcantara on my Thruxton in 2016. It now has over 65k miles on it and it still looks new. So, I wouldn't worry about the Alcantara getting shiny. I did drop a blob of some wax or cleaner that stained it. Put some black shoe polish on it and voila, good as new. You think this bike looks retro? Maybe 80s Japanese retro. It doesn't look a think like an old Triumph.
All good, BUT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, who signed off those cheap clocks! Keep the old ones, or even put the 1200 Scrambler clock on it (not the cheap 660 one) If I was in the market for the speed twin, I'd be very disappointed as that the bit you have to look at all the time
@@RocketMan_Moto Totally agree with an upgrade, but for me this is not an upgrade, the 1200 Scrambler clock looked good and could cover all the functions, I am afraid this is Accountants at work.
Mk I owner here (silver) and I agree wholeheartedly with the comments expressed in this video! The paint scheme and that clock… I just don’t get it. The orange reminds me too much of Harley. Not a fan of the indents on the tank either… those always looked like an engineering mistake with a poor solution to me. And the plastic fenders on the base model?? Less riding modes?! A horribly ugly gauge that looks like it came off a Honda Rebel (no offence to Honda at all... I absolutely love their bikes and actually own a Super Cub) and the cherry on top? It’s more expensive!! Definitely a misstep on Triumph’s part imo. I feel like they simply nailed the Mk I (at least aesthetically speaking) and any stylistic changes they’ve made since have simply been for the sake of change and ‘refreshing’ the line. But to be honest, a little part of me likes that I don’t have to be envious of the new models! I was excited to hear RM’s take on the new models, and as usual, he didn’t disappoint when it came to validating my thoughts and opinions Lol Keep up the good work!! Oh! And PLEASE tell me where you got that beautiful high resolution pic of the Mk I! I would love to use it as a wallpaper… Thanks!
Thanks for your great input and positive comments, Duke. Much appreciated. You can find lots of great HD photos and videos here: triumph-mediakits.com/en/
Why in the hell did they do away with the analogue clocks? Its a retro bike, the analogue clocks are key to it ffs. Most Moto Guzzi V7 owners love everything about their V7s EXCEPT the digital speedometers. You see this happen with a lot of products, some company makes it, it catches on despite the fact that its not popular with buyers.
TBH with the thruxton gone and they have a cafe racer kit as an accessory i have no choice but to buy this bike one day but that tft screen will haunt me forever
I’ve already mentioned the clocks, don’t care for the graphics and it would be nice if you could get the engine finished in alloy rather than black. Still a lovely bike. More choices in tank colors too. Ok I’ll stop whining!
I'd say it's a yes strictly based on fully adjustable front and back. I agree on the dash though, that wasn't a great change. But to me the suspension alone makes it far more intriguing.
@@RocketMan_Moto I like it. I think this bike is meant to be a graduation from a street triple or sport naked. Which is where I'm at. Mid 40's and starting to feel silly hopping off a striple. But after reading more comments on price, I'm out again. Too much for what it is.
Why put that display on a bike with a retro-feel? What were they thinking? I'm in the market for a pre-owned Speed Twin 1200. So -- is "Mark 1" or "Mark 2" the better option?
I like the Mk1 and Mk2 more. Edit: as the video progressed, I came to rather like the Mk3's appearance, especially in Baja orange, although I don't like the barcode stripes, as you point out. What is Baja orange, just out of interest? Extra edit: I can't abide the riding position. It would need significant risers.I like the dash. Excellent review. Nick
What makes it a non starter for me is the instruments. I never liked the overly busy twin dials from before but think the lcd /txt hybrid is hideous. This isn’t a cheap bike. Either give it a proper modern tft dash with old school dial graphic options or stick to proper twin dials
Yeah, 100% not retro bike anymore, or retro-ish. And whats worse, if you go for the cheaper one, you actually get a downgraded version of the bike. I got a 2020 all black one, and it just needs one upgrade, the rear shocks. It was a good run for the speed twin😂
As for the Thruxton... I believe that actually nobody bought it because it was too expensive. When you could have a 80-90% similar bike for 4.000 less (or 25% less) by the exact same brand and with the excact same engine and similar styling... guess which one would most of the people choose.
@@RocketMan_Moto BMW managed to have it all on the R nineT while also having analog clocks. I think it's pure cost cutting, which isn't a wise move when your competition does put effort into the dash.
In the pursuit to provide neverending growth for the shareholders, either prices have to go up or costs have to go down. The new speedo is just cheaper to produce, simple. Many manufacturers do both and see what it does to them. KTMs with premium prices, having quality and reliability that is worse than ever. And it was never good to begin with. And BMW with their most premium bike and its countless issues. They open themselves up to attack from young manufacturers out of China all by themselves.
I have a Mk 2 with Ohlins piggy back rear suspension. I think Triumph will be back tracking on that awful single clock and tank colours. Did Triumph not hold any focus clinics prior to this launch?
So much money for admittedly beautiful bike Nit sure i prefer it over the old one though. 400x would probably be my oick, and i think I'd ride it more, especially with the rally raid spokes and other add ons. Ride safe 👍
Just never understood why, when its only a tank being painted with 'colour', its not possible to have any Triumph tank in any Triumph colour ? Strange to think of actually giving the paying customer an actual choice, rather than a design committee choosing 3 or 4 only from dozens. When the actual hardware build options run into the 20's or 30's from the Triumph accessory list ! Hey ho, well that leaves me looking at the black/grey/silver (Dependant on your view of what triumph call their colour palate) Mk 2 with 'non-standard' all Aluminium cans . . . Great to hear your take on the Mk 3 and the clear issues with the potential upgrades, dare we ask how much these will all cost ?
Why are triumph fitting that fisher price dash to everything. Its on the street triple R too and is not in the same league as the rivals. This should of course have kept the twin dials. Triumph also have the worse TFT going too which is fitted to the otherwise brilliant Street triple RS. Come on Triumph sort your clocks and dashes out.
@@RocketMan_Moto They could have absolutely just stuck with the old one with some minor changes that would not have cost a lot. Full digital, gosh what a poor choice.
@@RocketMan_Moto Yes I understand but they could have still done a combo, much like how the Hayabusa does it. You could have an additional screen in the middle dedicated to just the gizmos or split the clocks in half.
Do you look like James May too? 😂 I like the bike in general but agree the colour ways leave me cold and they could’ve invested in electronic twin gauges and they would’ve been appropriate for some other models of Triumph’s and if you’re right about the more extreme riding position then that’d be a dealbreaker for me.
I love the Speed Twin 1200 but due to the canted forward position I think it would be better to get a cheaper used Thruxton instead of the Speed Twin RS.
The big 1200 graphic on the tank of an otherwise good looking white model spoils it for me, no need to say it twice as 1200 already appears on the side panel. Agree with everyone on the clock, yuk.
Yup, have a Speed Twin 2022, black, 2 clocks, beautiful bike, love it for 100% New RS? not for me, the "Modern Classic " look has disappeared and that's a no go for the Speed Twin, it needs to be basic, black, a good sound, and no new modern knick- knacks.
@@RocketMan_Moto The RS is also way overpriced! It used to look really nice, I loved the classic tank shape, the headlight was perfect, just the right size, and it had twin clocks. All Triumph had to do was to release an RS model which had better suspension, classic twin clocks with an LED in the middle, similar to the Kawasaki Z900RS (a gorgeous classic bike), updated electronics, cruise control, and an up-and-down quickshifter, or the option of an automatic system. It still has a great engine, but for me, it's lost its mojo and is off my list. I'll be looking at getting the new Yamaha MT-09 SP next year, although it's not a modern classic, and neither is the new Speed Twin 1200 in my opinion, it's far better value, with a better electronics package, and a fantastic CP3 triple engine.
@@RocketMan_Moto Yep, the Speed Twin was one of my favourite bikes, I've loved the Bonneville's from when I was a kid, especially that classic tank shape-now it's got dimples! The Honda CB750 and the Norton Commando were also favourites, and they still look good today. I do wish Honda would bring out a modern CB750. Triumph have ruined a classic bike, but at least it will sound nice. It looks like we'll be stuck with this redesigned Speed Twin 1200 for at least another three years, unless it doesn't sell, and I'm guessing it won't sell as well as the previous models. I can't help thinking Triumph have cut some corners to save money, and they're also asking a lot of cash for what you actually get when you compare it to the competition. I'd buy a decent second hand bike, and then spend the cash you've saved on a Öhlins STX36 or a YSS rear shock, and fit better internal fork cartridges. There's also the Kawasaki Z900RS SE which looks fantastic, but that really needs a full exhaust system to make it sound better, and give it a bit more character. I do like an inline-four engine, I did all my training on a Honda CB650, and they sound great when you open them up. I found the CB650 a great bike around town and for urban riding, but I don't like Honda's amber running lights, it confuses people in the UK, they should be white. 👍
Bikes are always use case for the individual. So I get it. I own a 2020 and still love it, despite the obvious shortcomings, which I've tried to overcome with mods. Single dash though. WTF Triumph.
NOT GOOD👎👎With that said I am looking forward for your upcoming ride review & my demo ride wen it’s available at my dealership. But I’ll still keeping my 23 ST1200✌️
The stripes on the RS tank are on a different angle to the engine fin lines which triggers my OCD. Just way to much going on with tank graphics.Horrible.Oh and deleting the twin clocks seems like a totally shit move too. This seems to of pleased absolutely nobody. Ohlins rear shocks are great. The rest of the bike was fine as it was.
I think I've seen 1 positive comment about the new clock, the other 200 or so have been very critical. And I agree about the silly stripes, they're not even put on straight :(
This bike really is useless when it comes to longer rides. I wish they fitted a bigger tank, an optional front fairing, and good looking luggage options. Would make the bike way more usable. I also like to occasionally stand on the foot pegs to stretch out my legs out on longer rides, so the adjusted foot peg position is certainly a concern.
I have a T120 and have always felt that the twin clocks suit that retro look along with the T120. However, I've always felt that the Speed Twin is a more modern, naked, street bike so think the new touches including the dash suits it better, but I guess they could have borrowed the nice one from the Tiger 1200 XE and not the too much simple from the Trident one ...... The changes are nice and address the public expecting the Speed twin to be a competitive naked ... loved the colors, as well. I miss the truxthon, but T has addressed that with the accessories, so you may have it back to the new speed platform if you wish .. makes all the sense ... nice touch, Triumph !!
I am now much more tempted for a second hand MKII. Funny you didnt' focus on the entry model (You are right, nobody buys a entry level triumph), as it is more expensive than yours, and a "lot" worse. About the clocks being a necessary evil for the "New gizmos"... how? the previous one already had rider modes, Cruise control (as an extra) is based on the speedometer, and the quickshifter needs... what? a gear indicator???! I sincerely hope I am wrong, but "CFMOTO Day tuo na" signals exactly who they will be going after. I just hope they dont' beat triumph at it's own game, and produce a extremely desirable retros, with a price more "in tune":.. I love classic brands, but HD is already dead... please don't let T die of "el cheapo parts bin" decisions.
I would not underestimate the change in the rider triangle. Honda ruined the NC750X for tall people with the last 2021 update. PS we just took delivery of our SH125i from Annelise !
@@RocketMan_Moto As for the 1200 RS then I think the gold-colour forks look hideously out of place on a so-called modern classic motorcycle. On the positive side, the optional colour-coordinated seat cowl (presumably from the Thruxton parts bin) looks marvellous
@@RocketMan_Moto Especially so when set against that orange colourway. Not that they look great with the black colourway either! They suited the Thruxton RS Chrome Edition though.
It will be fine. Everyone said the same thing about Ducati when they ditched the trellis frame, and yet, Panigale sales have been epic. Harley riders said the same about the Pan America, and that bike likely saved them from bankruptcy. Corvette fans cried over the notion of going mid engine, but the C8 has been smashing track and sales records... People don't like change, but for every curmudgeon that proclaims they won't buy the new bike because it isn't what they are used to, 2 new people will like it and maybe buy it. Triumph added an IMU, more ride modes that can be customized, a quickshift with autoblip, and they wanted to offer their bluetooth module to this model so you can get phone pairing, music info and gps navigation on screen... Well, all that stuff requires a new dash, not the 2006 analogue dials...
@@RocketMan_Moto Seen it happen many times over the years, on bikes, cars, etc... When I first got my 2020 Street RS, I thought the dash was complete shit. You could not read the graphics at speed, and it looked like it was designed by a kid who wanted it to look like his playstation, and that had never actually ridden a bike before... But after a month, I got over it... On the road and track, my eyes need to be scanning out ahead, not looking at the dash. I feel like Bikers will have a bigger issue with it because they tend to put form over function. Riders on the other hand, might not care for it, but we get past it because the way the bike RIDES is what really matters... Old school dials look nice sitting parked... but it doesn't do anything for my lap times... haha
I get you. I think the problem is that the old Speed Triple had such beautiful clocks; it would have been preferable (but costly) for Triumph to design a completely new 'retro digital' dash. After all, they have many modern classics they could have used it on.
I wonder how many more Street Triples and Speed Triples they would have sold if it wasnt for the insect look. Now this??? Triumphs design department NEEDS an overhaul.
Thruxton R had a Showa Big Piston - that was good enough. But a Marzocchi? Come on. Did I see correctly that the brakes are no longer Brembo branded? I understand that the Thruxton was just placed too high up in the portfolio and Triumph is now trying to fix the problem. I hope it works for Triumph.
What have Triumph done. The Gen 3 standard bike is absolutely rubbish. Plastic fenders, crappie headlight & cheap bezel. Triumph 660 clock, no sport mode, horrible tank & sh@t graphics , cheap calipers & more money. The best looking Speed Twin was the 2019 in red, which I gladly have !!!!!!!
Nah, I think the series 1 was the purest in form, it looked right and sat right..I miss my series 1 which had everything, suspension front and rear, deCat , Triumph off road silencers, tail tidy and other items too many to mention, it looked standard but was better in areas of performance which it needed. I miss it but only because it was absolutely awesome, a grunty fast street bike with presence and poise ..just didn't get to use it much/enough it was too nice to use in wet weather which in England is 11 months a year..I ride the bike that replaced it everyday.!.
@@RocketMan_Moto , unfortunately the trend for manufacturers is to just keep on flogging it until it becomes a distant third cousin removed from its original design draft..and I think it's nearly there with this MK3 ..the next one will be an absolute pointless exercise in 'revamp' giving the customers nothing more than a child's drawing of what it once was..Yamaha have done the same with the MT range..it's a back of fag packet student drawing now.
Triumph really missed the mark here, people get a triumph for that retro styling with a modern performance, but the new digital dash and some sci-fi looking parts around the bike, not to mention the unnecessary increased in price ,shows just how detached Triumph is with their fans, there's no shortage of choices out there if i wanted a modern looking bike, the designing team at Triumph should he fired
This Speed Twin Mark 3 looks more modern and less classic than its predecessors, which for my tastes, is a bad thing. Anyway, in terms of looks, Triumph cannot do better than the Thruxton Ultimate Edition. A pity Triumph discontinued this beautiful bike. PS: if you are a short person (1.70m like me), the position on the Thruxton is far from being "extreme".
Too early to form a conclusion and test rides can change your mind, but the base model looks to be a fail in the UK market. Being asked to pay £500 more and getting on balance significantly less objectively (the lack of Brembos, plastic mudguards, one fewer mode) and subjectively (lack of retro twin clocks) makes no sense. The RS could do well, subject to the riding position but it looks like it will be a very low mileage Sunday bike which is I think a shame. The continuing lack of and inability to retro fit a centre stand does tell you that this is rather a vanity machine. Let’s wait and see but I would be pessimistic from a sales perspective. Thanks for your video.
I find the RS too expensive and their are better options in that price range if you’re looking for performance As for the base model, it’s odd they couldn’t stick at least some budget brembos on it like on the street triple r but the most annoying thing is the rain and road mode only. I have road mode on my 2024 street triple moto2 and it’s a really boring and dull throttle response and I’d expect the same if not worse on this one

Agree on the clock. Thanks😊👍
I remember that time that I wanted to buy a speed twin simply for the twin clocks. I only didn't, because I'm too tall for the bike...
Spot on with the clock being a horrible choice. They ruined the bike with that one decision.
There seems to be a lot of hate for that poor little clock😬
Feel better than ever about my 2024 Speed Twin purchase.
I get that!
As a mark 1 owner silver and black, with updated suspension, I already have an RS
Yes. Hang on to it!👍😊
Agreed, i have the same with Nitron suspension both ends, Tec bike parts cam, airbox eliminator, decat and adjusted fueling.
Obligatory: Won't buy it without dual clocks.
This new dash is not going down well with anybody😬
The 2019 Speed Twin was the bike that got me onto a motorcycle. To me it is what a bike should be. (I own a Silver Ice 2020, btw.) I am not sure the "MKIII" , either version, would have the same impact. The base seems like a downgrade in many ways and the RS is a Thruxton wanna be. I am disappointed, but it doesn't really matter because I am keeping my 2020 for a long time.
You’ve got the best ST👍😊
The silver 2019 Speed Twin is the best looking stock retro Triumph (and therefore, anyone) has ever made.
Yes, all things considered, it’s a bit of a disappointment. Especially for the money. I’m keen to try one, but I doubt I’ll be buying one🙁
@RocketMan_Moto Yep we'll I will be very interesting in your opinion if you get to test ride one not that I would even consider buying one with how it even looks in them hideous colour schemes!!🤮
Not to mention the price😐
@RocketMan_Moto Yep price is even more ridiculous than them stripes & clocks oh sorry I meant clock!! ⏰️ 🙄
Totally agree. Who signed these design details off?
hello I can't wait to read you again after trying the new one 1200 rs
Ce sera pour bientôt, j’espère👍😊
What everybody wants, but nobody seems to ask for, is that Triumph should create a T120 RS
As long as they don’t put the Trident clock on it🤦♂️
I've been so close to buying the current MY24 but knew an upgrade was coming so have held off. Very happy.
Good call. Enjoy👍😊
Happy birthday in a few weeks. Ride safe👍😊
The speed twins are beautiful machines meant for young people’s endurance but older people’s wallet. 😂😂😂 oh if only I could have one..
Haha, that’s a good way of putting it👍😀
I fully agree with your assessment.
That’s what I did with my 2021 and it was great. Beginning to regret selling it now I’ve seen this RS🙁
I considered the Scrambler, fantastic bike. Enjoy👍😊
Yep, I think most of us would just have taken the shifter
I’m with you on the riding position. The previous mod had an excellent comfortable riding position. Now the seat height has increased which sucks because I’m short.
I am concerned, but let’s reserve judgement until we can actually try it🤞😊
@@RocketMan_Moto Absolutely!
Completely agree, that clock does not suit what is to me a retro style bike. I own a Kawasaki RS and the thing that sold it to me is the twin clocks, after all that’s the part of the bike you see when riding.
Agreed. Triumph should have designed brand new twin analogue clocks with a digital centre like Kawasaki did🙁
I've just rented the Kawasaki 900 RS for a week and took it on a tour - it looks great and runs incredible.
You seem to have gone through pretty much the same thought process as me, Jeffrey. Which new bike have you gone for?
@@RocketMan_Moto I purchased a leftover 2022 Yamaha Tracer 9GT. Love it! The only issue has been the seat. I'll tackle fixing that over the winter.
Fabulous engine, much more top end than the Speedie. Enjoy👍😀
I agree, they should really have pushed the boat out and designed a brand new dash🙁
As a still currently owner. Want the the 2022 which i own with Quickshifter the Cafe Seat The clip ons and MAYBE the leansensitive electronics
The quickshifter is a no-brainer👍😊
Nice garage! Thanks for your input👍😊
Triumph dash design team needs a refresh!
Like the dash on the new Himalayan! Single, simple and effective.
The Himalayan’s dash does look better, you’re right
I hate it, I think they have ruined the speed twin.
You sumed up my concerns with the new models very well, but you've forgotten to mention the price for the new RS: 16.195 Euros (in Germany)!
€17.500 in Portugal😩
@@RocketMan_Moto 😕
We win! 19.496 Euros as a Dutchy, I’ll keep my tricked red 2020
😳
@@RocketMan_Moto yeah I know…taxes are sky high, and we pay 2.25 per liter on euro98 🫣
😊👍
I bought the 2020 ST because it was the perfect bastard child between a T120 and a Thruxton. Sporty and comfortable at the same time. Now they are turning the RS into a Thruxton again, just naked, slap on the clip ons and a headlight fairing and we are back at square one. A regular ST with suspension upgrades is basically the RS everyone wanted, not this Thruxton wannabe.
Completely agree :(
I agree with you, RM, I think the sportier riding position is the biggest turn off. If it was my money I would be going down the used market route and customizing to make it mine!
Like the one I’m beginning to regret selling🤦♂️
@@RocketMan_Moto quit possibly, I liked what you did with that bike. I think I would go for a Euro 4 model so I could change the exhaust and decat the bike, then upgrade the forks and shocks for thrusting spec, raise the bars a bit and lower the pegs to accommodate my arthritis and then let it evolve 😀👍
Shall be keeping my 2021 ST, Apart from the rear shocks they have ruined it for me.
Pretty much for everyone🙁
I miss those from the 1050 Speed Triple I had for a couple of years (Mrs Karl-osh wouldn't get on the back of it , so it didn't get ridden much !)
I love the twin clocks on my 2019 speed twin, don't want the clocks off the Trident !
Great input. Thanks👍😊
@@RocketMan_Moto cheers 🙂
This is a bike I also wanted to love but the choice of typeface for ‘1200’, scale and positioning don’t really do justice to the elegant lines of the bike. Same with the barcode stripes on the orange version, less really is more, it looks over fussy and over ‘designed’. I fear they gave messed it up but I hope to be wrong about that, it might be just in my eyes and Triumph know a lot more about bikes than I ever will 😊 I bloody love my Scrambler 900.
The Scrambler is fabulous
I don‘t like the display, the headlight, the side covers and the colors. I would never buy one of that versions. Now i like my 2019 more. Thank you. 😁
The older versions definitely looked better, imo
I’m agree but I prefer wait for the incoming ride reviews before take a final judgement and desicion.
I’m hoping to ride it in December
Glad I stuck with my 2019 speed twin.
Wish I’d kept mine😐
On the face of it I would agree that the Mk1 had the better colour options and together with the MK2 improvements made the bike appealing to me.The lack of factory softluggage options did hamper my interest in the bike. The new bike with it's barcode paintwork, single instrument and more extreme riding position potentially make this is a no-no for me. The cynic in me wonders if this is just a marketing exercise to hike the price.
The price hike certainly is significant🤔
@@RocketMan_Moto oh why am I not surprised!
Agreed. I think most of us just wanted a quick shifter🤷♂️
Yes, they should have designed a brand new dash, imo
Those welds are ugly, I agree
i liked the older version, those gauges were great! I own the trident and the gauge is fine just not what i want to see on a modern classic
Exactly👍😊
Yes, the price is a bit hard to swallow🙁
The price is competitive against the BMW R12 9T and Kawasaki Z900RS which are the main rivals.
But €20k with a couple of options and dealer fees😬
@@RocketMan_Moto but that is true for any motorcycle. All these retro motorcycles are overpriced to be honest. But probably because they are bought by older and wealthier riders.
You're right and I suppose from a purely business perspective, who can blame them for hiking the prices if people are willing to pay?
In a perfect world Triumph could have incorporated the small tft into the twin clock setup to interface with the new electronics. Which then could further be used on the T100, T120, Speedmaster, Bobber… but instead we got something from the parts bin.
I also can’t justify the cost of the 1200RS when I can get an XSR900 for $5k less with more power and equivalent or better electronics. So many great retro/ naked bikes on the market for significantly less money.
I agree re. clock. Triumph should really have given us something a bit more special. The Z900RS is looking more appealing🤔
@@RocketMan_Moto Triumph could have used the dash from the 1200 scrambler XE, same electronics it appears, and at least looks a little more premium.
Agreed. Enjoy your beautiful clocks, which have now doubled in value :)
A friend has the mk1 in silver and black, one of the best looking bikes ever made I reckon.
I agree, the mk1 black was awesome looking
I bought the dual comfort seat with Alcantara on my Thruxton in 2016. It now has over 65k miles on it and it still looks new. So, I wouldn't worry about the Alcantara getting shiny. I did drop a blob of some wax or cleaner that stained it. Put some black shoe polish on it and voila, good as new.
You think this bike looks retro? Maybe 80s Japanese retro. It doesn't look a think like an old Triumph.
Good to know. Thanks for your input 👍😊
Wish my MINI seats looked the same as when new!
All good, BUT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, who signed off those cheap clocks!
Keep the old ones, or even put the 1200 Scrambler clock on it (not the cheap 660 one)
If I was in the market for the speed twin, I'd be very disappointed as that the bit you have to look at all the time
I agree. Unfortunately I think they needed a more modern display up front to handle the new electronics🙁
@@RocketMan_Moto Totally agree with an upgrade, but for me this is not an upgrade, the 1200 Scrambler clock looked good and could cover all the functions, I am afraid this is Accountants at work.
Absolutely🙁
Thanks so much!! Greatly appreciated!
A big mistake, at least judging by these comments
Agree completely, is the one thing putting me off the V7.
TBH with the thruxton gone and they have a cafe racer kit as an accessory i have no choice but to buy this bike one day but that tft screen will haunt me forever
I get why they need a more digital dash, but they should really have designed a brand new one from the ground up
What a backwards step!! Must remember my Tesco club card and scan the minging bar code on the bottom of the tank😮. What were they thinking of!!
Agreed🙁
I’ve already mentioned the clocks, don’t care for the graphics and it would be nice if you could get the engine finished in alloy rather than black. Still a lovely bike. More choices in tank colors too. Ok I’ll stop whining!
Feel free to vent, Steve. You’ve earned it with your constantly positive comments over the years👍😊
I'd say it's a yes strictly based on fully adjustable front and back. I agree on the dash though, that wasn't a great change. But to me the suspension alone makes it far more intriguing.
I’m worried about that rider triangle, though😐
@@RocketMan_Moto I like it. I think this bike is meant to be a graduation from a street triple or sport naked. Which is where I'm at. Mid 40's and starting to feel silly hopping off a striple. But after reading more comments on price, I'm out again. Too much for what it is.
Why put that display on a bike with a retro-feel? What were they thinking?
I'm in the market for a pre-owned Speed Twin 1200. So -- is "Mark 1" or "Mark 2" the better option?
I waited for the mk2: better brakes & forks👍
@@RocketMan_Moto Thank You.
Nick
Thanks, Nick😊👍
What makes it a non starter for me is the instruments. I never liked the overly busy twin dials from before but think the lcd /txt hybrid is hideous. This isn’t a cheap bike. Either give it a proper modern tft dash with old school dial graphic options or stick to proper twin dials
Agreed. The accountants were clearly watching over the design team’s shoulders
Yeah, 100% not retro bike anymore, or retro-ish. And whats worse, if you go for the cheaper one, you actually get a downgraded version of the bike. I got a 2020 all black one, and it just needs one upgrade, the rear shocks. It was a good run for the speed twin😂
The Ohlins I put on my 2021 transformed the ride quality. Thanks for your input👍😊
As for the Thruxton... I believe that actually nobody bought it because it was too expensive. When you could have a 80-90% similar bike for 4.000 less (or 25% less) by the exact same brand and with the excact same engine and similar styling... guess which one would most of the people choose.
Thanks for your input👍😊
I'm tempted to get the last mark II (2024 in U.S.) before it's too late. The 25 model still looks good but not as good.
The 2024 models still in showrooms are being swept up
Everybody I have seen comment has said that they hate the new digital dash.
Yep. But it’s the price to pay for the extra electronics🙁
@@RocketMan_Moto BMW managed to have it all on the R nineT while also having analog clocks. I think it's pure cost cutting, which isn't a wise move when your competition does put effort into the dash.
It absolutely is cost cutting :(
Yes they f..cked up with that digital clock😢
Nobody seems to like it :(
I LIKE THE ORANGE RS
Fair enough👍😀
All they had to do is keep the old dual analogue clock, or at least make it better like the one on Kawasaki Z900 RS!
Agreed, or better still (slightly) redesign the existing dual-clock setup so that it could handle the extra electronics (IMU, quick shifter...)??
In the pursuit to provide neverending growth for the shareholders, either prices have to go up or costs have to go down. The new speedo is just cheaper to produce, simple. Many manufacturers do both and see what it does to them. KTMs with premium prices, having quality and reliability that is worse than ever. And it was never good to begin with. And BMW with their most premium bike and its countless issues.
They open themselves up to attack from young manufacturers out of China all by themselves.
You can definitely feel the influence of accountants here. Thanks for your input :)
I have a Mk 2 with Ohlins piggy back rear suspension. I think Triumph will be back tracking on that awful single clock and tank colours. Did Triumph not hold any focus clinics prior to this launch?
I hope you’re right, but it will be 2026 at the earliest🙁
So much money for admittedly beautiful bike
Nit sure i prefer it over the old one though.
400x would probably be my oick, and i think I'd ride it more, especially with the rally raid spokes and other add ons.
Ride safe 👍
The 400X is a great bike. I still want one, even though I have little use for it😊
Just never understood why, when its only a tank being painted with 'colour', its not possible to have any Triumph tank in any Triumph colour ? Strange to think of actually giving the paying customer an actual choice, rather than a design committee choosing 3 or 4 only from dozens. When the actual hardware build options run into the 20's or 30's from the Triumph accessory list ! Hey ho, well that leaves me looking at the black/grey/silver (Dependant on your view of what triumph call their colour palate) Mk 2 with 'non-standard' all Aluminium cans . . .
Great to hear your take on the Mk 3 and the clear issues with the potential upgrades, dare we ask how much these will all cost ?
Thanks, Jon👍😊
Why are triumph fitting that fisher price dash to everything. Its on the street triple R too and is not in the same league as the rivals. This should of course have kept the twin dials. Triumph also have the worse TFT going too which is fitted to the otherwise brilliant Street triple RS. Come on Triumph sort your clocks and dashes out.
They should have designed a brand new ‘retro digital’ clock
A bit Blake’s 7 that takes me back a bit lol but you’re right they are. The new speedo has ruined it for me.
Maybe they didn’t have the funds for a brand new dash? It’s not the best though, is it🙁
@@RocketMan_Moto They could have absolutely just stuck with the old one with some minor changes that would not have cost a lot. Full digital, gosh what a poor choice.
They needed a more modern setup to handle things like cruise and the IMU
@@RocketMan_Moto Yes I understand but they could have still done a combo, much like how the Hayabusa does it. You could have an additional screen in the middle dedicated to just the gizmos or split the clocks in half.
I agree, but I think the accountants were probably standing over them
Do you look like James May too? 😂
I like the bike in general but agree the colour ways leave me cold and they could’ve invested in electronic twin gauges and they would’ve been appropriate for some other models of Triumph’s and if you’re right about the more extreme riding position then that’d be a dealbreaker for me.
Lol, I've had the James May comparison before. My hair's shorter, though... Yes, the rider triangle is concerning.
I love the Speed Twin 1200 but due to the canted forward position I think it would be better to get a cheaper used Thruxton instead of the Speed Twin RS.
Sound reasoning
The big 1200 graphic on the tank of an otherwise good looking white model spoils it for me, no need to say it twice as 1200 already appears on the side panel. Agree with everyone on the clock, yuk.
Thanks for your input 😊
Yup, have a Speed Twin 2022, black, 2 clocks, beautiful bike, love it for 100% New RS? not for me, the "Modern Classic " look has disappeared and that's a no go for the Speed Twin, it needs to be basic, black, a good sound, and no new modern knick- knacks.
Agreed👍
I was looking forward to the RS, but it's so disappointing, they should have named it the Trident 1200!
Ouch😬
I agree, they’ve spoiled the Speed Twin with this redesign🙁
I think quite a few more people will now be turning to the Z900RS
Bikes are always use case for the individual. So I get it. I own a 2020 and still love it, despite the obvious shortcomings, which I've tried to overcome with mods. Single dash though. WTF Triumph.
They should have designed a brand new dash. They’re lagging behind the competition in this department.
NOT GOOD👎👎With that said I am looking forward for your upcoming ride review & my demo ride wen it’s available at my dealership. But I’ll still keeping my 23 ST1200✌️
I wish I’d kept my 2021 now😩
The stripes on the RS tank are on a different angle to the engine fin lines which triggers my OCD.
Agreed. And that’s why I got rid, albeit reluctantly
👍😊
You’re right, the base model is more expensive than my 2021. Thanks for your input😊👍
Is the base model a 1200? I couldn’t quite tell from the massive 1200 on the side of the tank.
😂
I would not underestimate the change in the rider triangle. Honda ruined the NC750X for tall people with the last 2021 update. PS we just took delivery of our SH125i from Annelise !
Yes, I'm worried about the rider triangle... Congrats on the new SH125! I haven't seen Anneliese for a while, I must pop in and say ola :)
@@RocketMan_Moto based on the roads here, if I were to get a Triumph it’d be the scrambler 1200 XE (with the long suspension)
Oh yes, you need good suspension here. I went with the Tiger over the Scrambler for the wind protection when I need to take the A22😊
The new 1200 having seemingly downgraded brakes, a reduced number of ride modes and plastic mudguards is poor form indeed.
Yes, disappointing🙁
@@RocketMan_Moto As for the 1200 RS then I think the gold-colour forks look hideously out of place on a so-called modern classic motorcycle. On the positive side, the optional colour-coordinated seat cowl (presumably from the Thruxton parts bin) looks marvellous
Yes, I was disappointed by the forks, too. I normally like a bit of bling, but these look out of place🤔
@@RocketMan_Moto Especially so when set against that orange colourway. Not that they look great with the black colourway either! They suited the Thruxton RS Chrome Edition though.
Yes, and the forks are a different shade of gold to the Ohlins shocks. A mess🤢
Let’s hope you’re right. You certainly are in respect of the additional electronics requiring a non-analogue clock. Thanks for your input👍😊
Most people seem pretty underwhelmed by the new design. Thanks for your input, Larry :)
Straying away from the modern classic formula is a big mistake.
I do like the idea of being to Thruxton-ise the riding position.
As they're offering clip-ons as an option, I think you'll be able to make it very similar to the Thruxton
Is it basically a Thruxton RS in a Speed Twin body style?
Pretty much
I was really looking forward to buying the rs but I don’t know
I think we're all having the same thoughts. Unfortunately :(
I’d have been happier if it was in T120 ergos and styling
I think that’s what many people are feeling
Thruxton R had a Showa Big Piston - that was good enough. But a Marzocchi? Come on. Did I see correctly that the brakes are no longer Brembo branded? I understand that the Thruxton was just placed too high up in the portfolio and Triumph is now trying to fix the problem. I hope it works for Triumph.
Yes, Triumph branded brakes on the base model now, probably made by J.Juan??
@@RocketMan_Moto I think they are Brembo, without the branding
Maybe👍😊
What have Triumph done. The Gen 3 standard bike is absolutely rubbish. Plastic fenders, crappie headlight & cheap bezel. Triumph 660 clock, no sport mode, horrible tank & sh@t graphics , cheap calipers & more money.
The best looking Speed Twin was the 2019 in red, which I gladly have !!!!!!!
I have to agree… unfortunately. This new mk3 doesn’t do it for me🙁
Nah, I think the series 1 was the purest in form, it looked right and sat right..I miss my series 1 which had everything, suspension front and rear, deCat , Triumph off road silencers, tail tidy and other items too many to mention, it looked standard but was better in areas of performance which it needed. I miss it but only because it was absolutely awesome, a grunty fast street bike with presence and poise ..just didn't get to use it much/enough it was too nice to use in wet weather which in England is 11 months a year..I ride the bike that replaced it everyday.!.
Same with my mk2. Loved it but never used it. I was hoping for a bit more from this mk3😐
100% agree... unfortunately
Agreed. The designers were clearly working to a budget🙁
Agreed - well, I can imagine - if you’re not too tall, then the Thruxton is a fantastic bike👍😊
Thanks for your input, Jonny👍😊
Oh, yes. The new ST1200 and ST1200 RS, or how i like to call them “the proper way to advertise BMW RnineT”
👍😂
I find the RS too expensive and their are better options in that price range if you’re looking for performance
As for the base model, it’s odd they couldn’t stick at least some budget brembos on it like on the street triple r but the most annoying thing is the rain and road mode only. I have road mode on my 2024 street triple moto2 and it’s a really boring and dull throttle response and I’d expect the same if not worse on this one
I agree that, in addition to the weird 'upgrades', the price is now too high
Why is the guy in the thumbnail riding past a giant shepherd’s pie?
But yeah, the new Speedie is all a bit meh. Quick shift sounds good but the rest?
Lmao @ the shepherd’s pie👍😂
Probably a bit too expensive for me, it seems they're almost directly comparable with the BMW R Nine T in price now.
That’s the problem. I’m looking forward to testing the new RS (January?), but the price and new riding position could be an issue.
