Thanks for directing me to this update as it is most timely as I have to replace my centre bearing as well. It took me 3hrs on the side of the road to remove that entire shaft assembly! KLR has those nuts they say (I asked them) and there should be a spring washer underneath it according to the RPS. Mine didn't have the spring washer and the nut was extremely difficult to remove. Nobody in LR world stocks the spring washers, but I am waiting for a couple of generic ones in the post from an Aust company which sells nuts and bolts. Hopefully they fit! You are doing an awesome job with this, especially with MS. I tried to have a close look at the direction of the centre bearing in the video. It looked like in yours the more open rubber side was facing to the front and the 'rounded' and more closed side was facing to the rear? There are removable covers on the shafts (one stopped you from removing those bolts), but did you also use the shiny metal cover that was tied onto the bearing when you received it?

Great stuff . (Refer to your test drive vid) May i mention the rear T/shaft dust boot covering the slip joint seems in the vid to be sitting incorrect (unbalanced) . This boot can have some residue grease after you have greased the spline .
This in the long term could unbalance things and cause loose bolts ect causing vibrations and or failures 👍

Yes I'm aware of that, it's not the correct boot, it's a power steering boot, and was all I could find at short notice, I plan to laser cut some centralizing flanges to fit in there, similar to the factory designed ones.
I get under there and re-distribute the grease from time to tome to shift the load on the uj's until I can mange to do the rest.

Exactly same thing happened to me. It was noise when I release foot off accelerator pedal. Rear Diff input flange nut was loose. I used red locktite for parament solution. I used a couple of bolt and nut in the flange and jammed long enough bar to hit ground to tighten the nut. I see now. PTO is running 3rd wheels set! So technically all shaft can be removed and run as 4x4.

I dont know why you're continuously blaming the landy for being difficult . Its the army who modified it

technically it was Jaguar-Rover Australia, under contract for the military, but yeah it is a good case of "be careful what you wish for".
in my specific case though, the difficulty is that I have Multiple Sclerosis.
