When a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis landed on my lap, this channel became a way to leave a legacy while I'm still mobile and able to communicate clearly.
I'm not in this for fame or money, but I do share in the revenue youtube makes from my content.
My original plan was to leave a legacy for both my daughters - for a future time where I'm no longer able to communicate these things to them.
Sometimes a complicated past gets in the way of the present, so one can only plan for the future.

I broke my JBL Flip 4 - then fixed it...
I have an old JBL Flip 4, that recently started to show signs of battery failure.
I decided to investigate and see what the deal is. In the process I damaged a flex cable, that I then had to improvise a way to re-terminate.

Trying to make stuff glow with radiation
Переглядів 10113 годин тому
In preparation for another video, I'm experimenting with materials that might scintillate under X-Ray, I had some uranium glass and Zinc Sulfide laying around, so I thought I'd give it a try before I go and pay real money for a LYSO crystal. Shown in this video are both a Radaicode 101 and Radex Geiger counter.
Laser cutter autofocus pin

My laserpro Mercury III recently tried to destroy it'self after the autofocus pin (probe?) wire broke during a job. I really think they should have made that probe a normally closed switch.
I've changed the way I do RJ45 connectors

Change is hard for me, and I tend to get stuck in my ways. But these passthrough (tradename pass-thru) connectors are a welcome change that I have decided to adopt permanently.
Changing Land rover headlight covers

A year ago, I took a veteran and land rover fan for his last ride in the 6x6. I met with his family recently and purchased a box of parts from his collection. This box included a pair of headlight covers. Playlist of the prep for the funeral: ua-cam.com/play/PLXvLC1_XYdhot0ubJ6k3NuAwBuObt0yKN.html

Smart!
Good video , my JBL Extreme needs the same thing at some stage but for now is fine as I can still run it off the power at home .
I have a couple intensifying screens sitting around if you’d like one? I’m not sure what condition they’re in but I’d be happy to send for free if you’re keen. They’ll just sit around rotting in our workshop otherwise 😅.
@@catfission yeah I've been looking for one for a long time. I have a LYSO crystal coming in the mail. Hoping to demonstrate how scintillation detection works. There's a couple of longer videos in the works soon.
@@TheAussieRepairGuy Sweet, I think I’ve got your email address already so I’ll make contact and organise sending the intensifying screen your way soon :)
lol seeing this reminds me of the stuff I liked to do as a kid😅
yeah it can be fun, but also dangerous - then again, much of what I did as a kid was dangerous too lol
Thank you!
I definitely think this is youtubes fault. My comments and many others keep getting deleted, EVEN if it wasn't a potentially bad comment. I can't debate for crap, and the people I'm arguing with literally say things worse than me and their comments are still here.
Your video showed up in my YT recommendations.Watching from Radcliff, Kentucky, U.S on July 8th, 2024 in preparation for the switch from old POTS telephone landline service to Fiber telephone service. Your voice sounds a lot like Paul Hogan a..k.a "Crocodile Dundee". Love that movie!
@@karimaogden3875 well I'm Australian so I get that a fair bit lol.
Can i upgrade ram on the rugged 5430 ?
You can, and here's the service manual that explains how: www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-au/latitude-14-5430-laptop/lat5430rugged_sm/installing-the-memory-modules?guid=guid-f91cc546-61fd-4124-b860-501bc42b9a6a&lang=en-us
@@TheAussieRepairGuy thank you so much for the support ❤️
I'm thinking of designing a bolt on independent suspension system for mine. I want it to be a swappable thing with the straight axels. That way, I can outfit it with tracks as normal, run it with tires only on the straight axles or remove the axles and bolt on the independent suspension with just tires. I would be able to configure it for any terrain and ride quality. Just a thought...
@@2artactical55 there are racing argos out there with long travel suspension.
@@TheAussieRepairGuy I've seen them. That's what got me thinking about it.
You have a good Argo setup and alot more room to roam in the open wild lands. I have to go to a State or National Park that allows ATVs to ride some wild land trails.
@@2artactical55 most of my videos are on private properties, of which there are many near me.
I started using these about 7months ago. They ate so much easier to install. You can even replace the ends on the factory flat cat 7 cables witch are impossible with the regular connectors.
@@jbell6745 I've done many flat cable connections with the old ones, I made a trimming guide, but yes these would be way easier.
I had no idea these connectors with the holes existed. I'm still doing my DIY cables with a package of connectors and crimper I bought over twenty years ago. This looks *much* easier! What a very helpful video!
@@VegasGuy89183 until a few months ago, I didn't know these existed either.
Double clutching is stupid
@@EricCartman-ge7gw in a modern manual yes, in a 5 ton, 4 speed 6x6 military vehicle, no.
I bought on of these things a month ago. I am learning a lot. Well worth the money. You have a new subscriber. I’m a retired Airline Captain. Wish I had one of these when I was still flying. I know radiation increases with altitude.
Thankyou muchly, I may or may not be getting a 103 by way of a sponsorship deal from radiacode soon. I'll be doing a few things with it including a radioactive patch of land, and also attempting to make stuff glow with it. I have an experimental video coming in a few days.
When I first taught myself back in the day, I called the conductors, light Orange, Dark Orange, Light Green Etc, when I started to work for other companies it blew them away how easy that was to remember.
Thank you for showing and confirming
Make sure you align the conductors and flatten them beyond where the crimp block is. Otherwise you might snap one conductor over another.
@@timothylynch1380 yes I mention that at one point. In this use case, only two conductors are in use, so I was a little sloppy.
Great, Straight to the point video. Thanks
Love it! Does the salt water wear your seals and bearings out faster?
@@2artactical55 this is fresh water...
@@TheAussieRepairGuy oh got ir. It looked like an ocean inlet at first.
Did it fix the fluctuating temperature gauge or was it something else?
@@carltonr3417 yeah it did help a lot. It was also a preventative measure. I've had the vehicle for 5 years now, never changed it, and no idea when it last got done. All indications suggested it was the factory fitted one.
What's the main porpuse of double clutching.. does it work in any vehicle?? I'am just curious
Most vehicles you fon't need to. This is a 5 ton 6x6 military vehicle with only 4 gears. There's a big difference between gear ratios, and it needs a little help if you want to change quickly
@@TheAussieRepairGuy I see got it thank you... I really appreciate you reply... Blessings
Love this so cute

Using the stove upside down buddy ..
Did that once, all it did was screw the stove, and give me lukewarm beans
great video. i also have this vest.
Yeah they work fairly well, though I learnt to drain the pump between seasons, as the plunger rusted in mine.
@@TheAussieRepairGuy oh wow. thank you. i never have done that for 3 seasons. i should do that.
Why isn’t your flag up already? Love your country.
Some peoole take objection at times, I've had a few vandalised. At a caravan park, I like to get a feel for the other guests first.
So I noticed another comment here about patriotism used to being cringe in Australia. Would you be willing to explain this to me, please? I am an American and never had the occasion to visit Australia, so pardon my ignorance on the subject.
There's a wide variance of personalities and perspectives in both countries. The "cringe" part is when excessive enthusiasm is combined with a narrow viewpoint. As Australians we are bombarded with american content, much of it does not translate well culturally.
To add an example, capitol riots guy with the horns would be viewed as cringeworthy, much like someone here with a VB cape and aussie flag running topless down the main street of melbourne advocating for pauline hanson. But perspectives vary as I said.
@@TheAussieRepairGuy thank you for explaining. I deeply appreciate the time you took to write your responses and answer my question. I hope you have a great rest of your day.
@@DemitriVladMaximov usually responses like this result in argument. A appreciate the calm response.
I remember the days when being patriotic was considered Un-Australian. We would cringe so bad at Americans.
I've been married to an american for over 10 years, even she cringes at that patriotisim. I don't always put flags up, but when I'm around other ex-serviceman it helps to get along.
More junks more things to go wrong and must repair them! I guess wifee do not understand that. She would say get rid of them all?
The 6x6 is technically hers lol.
He will be. We just have to work out dates.
When on 2 wheels I always try to be considerate of how cars might have to park around me. But when there's already cars present it's guesswork of course. I think that's what happened here. Cars left
This short must have got some traction overnight, don't normally get this kind of interaction.... oh yeah 4.1k lol.
German canadian and have a uk flag in my room if confuses people
I was in Canes Australia during the latest ANZAC Day. Went to morning services on the beach at 4 am with about 3000 other Aussies. Great morning. Cheers.
Nice. I like a man who appreciates his country
The nation state is everything that's wrong with the world.
@@kaczynski2333 No, it is the people dont respecting there is nation states that is wrong with the world.
Compared to other countries, we get a pretty good deal here. I served in the military, with a view to keeping things fair for all. I don't neccesarily agree with all of our governments choices, but in the grand scale of things it's one of the better places to be.
An oil leak on 6 wheels. I get it I have a assault pioneer. 👍
Yeah its bad if they stop leaking, means they have run out. I have a 4x4 gs as well.

Hello my friend, these three videos amused me, because like you I am an electronics engineer and like you I have had the same machine to repair for 5 years, today there is war in New Caledonia, so we are stuck at home and I took out this old machine and its new gear to change. Bravo for your workshop, I'm ashamed mine is full to bursting I barely have room to put the machine. Thank you for the videos which will help me a lot. Friendships.
I'm glad I was helpful, and yes this machine sat with me for a long time before I was able to repair it.
Looks stupid, wears out clutch, slave, master and your shoe, The clutch not doing anything different on the 2nd bite
In cdl class now ,n i can't get out of 3rd
sounds like you have some drivetrain issues. if your CDL is air actuated, my might have a vacuum leak somewhere.
Hardwood jams. Cheapest and most effective.
Th8i is a rental, meaning a modification like that needs the landlords approval. There is a better option planned for the future
This video helped me get my clock out of out of my crystal frame.
Glad to have been some help
Wow even where you live you have low oxygen thieves , Unfortunately these Cretans are every where obviously , Good luck i hope your deterrent works either that wire the door up to 240v only if it was legal 😉😉
I bet it was a crocodile!
She might have been wearing crocks lol
You don't need to double clutch for upshifting, only for down shifting and the only reason you do it is to get the transmission to spin faster so you can match rpms with the engine. Most full size trucks you don't even have to use the clutch. Mack trucks operators manual even states that once the truck is in motion the clutch is not necessary. You people need to learn how to drive. 😂😂😂😂
Come drive sometime, not always flat straight roads here. This is also a 6x6 ex military 5 ton vehicle. ua-cam.com/users/shortsw-WnvUpkxLI?feature=share
Also, as I've said hundreds of times at this point - this is a "how to" not a "you should" video.
Also, you can do that in the 4x4 version with the same engine and gearbox: ua-cam.com/users/shorts4tAtXPOvqOc?feature=share
What a great little rifle. You could carry it in a backpack and keep your hands free for climbing through rough country. I see they're available in .17 HMR and .22 mag as well. I wasn't planning on buying another .22 but..........
I made a storage stock for it, but I take it out on my amphibious ATV, so I made watrrproof storage for it. ua-cam.com/video/UoZO0t6tcRM/v-deo.html
You can't have body armor for just incase the cops wanna shot you. Why can't you have the right to have just in case protection. You never know now days. I hate laws
My plan is avoid doing stuff that makes them want to shoot me. I've been shot at before, not as scary as it sounds.
Haha that's my product! I manufacture these bad boys in my factory.
Yeah someone else found me a while back. Gotta find a thermal fuse sometime, mine is bypassed
@@TheAussieRepairGuy I'm sure I can sort you out. I'll have a look on Monday when I'm back in the office. Which thermal fuse is it? The one on the heater?
