Funniest thing about this helicopter was that all the body kits and props they added on the thing for the Show Airwolf it actually ended up flying better as it became more stable during flight. Its apperantly to light for its own good and the side sponsons end up causing turbulance lift making it hard to control depending on the wind direction.
Interesting. I imagine the sponsons would start to act like little wings when it got some speed up that could cause issues. However the sim version at least is pretty stable. At least up until the red line where it gets a little more interesting.

@@flightsoficarus Fantastic idea with only one problem - Monument Valley and Thunderbird Mesa look totally crap in the sim (same old problem of overly rounded and soft terrain). Thanks for the great review though - I absolutely loved Airwolf as a kid and I will be snapping this one up.

I don't mind that it doesn't have the weapons package because this is only a flight sim. If you want the guns and others play an actual fighting sim like DCS.
Yeah the livery isn't totally accurate and I'd like to have the custom fairing as an addon but 99% of the time you're in the cockpit anyway. But it still gives those Airwolf vibes. Likewise I don't really feel the need for the weapons. Like you say, DCS is the sim for that. Even when I play DCS I mostly just enjoy flying round and learning the different aircraft.

That said, you are correct, MSFS is not a combat simulator.
How do you set the throttle axis? I can only click it, whatever I set it to it ignores entirely! Also how do I use or bind the "increase RPM/decrease RPM" button?
As far as I know there aren't bindings for for these. The throttle isn't too much much of an issue as you only really need to touch it during start up and shut down, although this does break the immersion a little. I've not found a need to adjust the RPM on it either. The flight model isn't really sophisticated enough for it to make much difference. I've found I can abuse this thing pretty severely and the RPM doens't even seem to wobble. Howver, it would be nice to have bindings for these.
@@flightsoficarus I have trouble with not enough torque even with the throttle at 100% I got the main rotors to be nice and tight only once. Most of the time, the chopper just wobbles due to the engines not having enough torque. Seems buggy to me.
@@justincase6151 I've not experienced any wobble with it although to be fair I've not flown it much recently. I know it's had an update not so long ago. There was a bug with some of the Cowansim helicopters where it would load with the engine trim set low even if there wasn't a beep switch control in the cockpit. If you set up a keybinding for it you could adjust it to the right level again but I would have thought Cowansim would have released a fix for that by now. Maybe worth looking into that.
Query: Just curious: Isn't there the capability to make the start-up of a heli as easy, as say, a modern automobile? Why the heck do you need a gazillion buttons? Seems a bit excessive. Also: 🙀 9:35 "Gee Captain, You sure that's advisable?" Lmao!😹💋
That's a good question. I imagine the different systems that are involved in starting any aircraft tend to have their own dedicated buttons and switches so in the event of an emergency, they can be reinistalised individually, according to the appropriate recovery procedure for the problem, without having to turn the whole aircraft off and on. But other than that, flicking all those switches makes it look like you know what you're doing. As for intentionally shutting off the engine in flight, I'm fairly sure that'd cost you license in real life. Real life engine failures are simulated but ditching the collective and rolling the throttle to idle so you can recover if needed. But when it's a sim you can do what you want.
I wish that the flight simulator companies would replicate these flight controls of the Bell 222A & Bell 222B. If they were made like that, there's no doubt in my mind that I would buy a set of them!!!! I mean.....think about it: there are similar controls for airplanes so.....why not the helicopters like the Bell 222A & Bell 222B?
I would definitely like to see more helicopter based controls available and Bell 222 does have a particularly unique collective. I imagine the issue is demand. Helicopter flight simmers still make up only a small portion of their potential market and they stand to make more money from plane controls. But it could make a fun DIY build. I might take a crack at it.
Ooh, good quesiton. I don't think this is something that tends to get included in most flight models, at least it's never come to my attention. I'd be surprised if it was inlcuded with 222B as it's actually has a relatively simple flight model. While this is a fun module, it's not study level.
i fly the Hype 145 an 160 amazing helos so im spoiled i found this chopper a lil un manageable, my fav part of the hype helos is internet access on the tablet also has a stereo system i watch youtube videos on long flights
The Hype helos are nice modules. They've done some great work on the autopilot, making flying them pretty stress free. Helos without autopilot, or ones where the developer hasn't been able to implement it, can be a bit more of a handful but once you get used to the flight dynamics it becomes second nature. I've only encountered 2 helo modules in MSFS, which I consider unflyable or flyable but not worth the effort.
An Airwolf bodykit would be awesome 😍 Still the only helicopter I've bought and will buy in msfs so far. I was positivly surprieced. It is great fun to fly. But, normaly I fly helos in another sim
We do. The AH-64 Apache. Not supersonic, but does have actual missiles and a chaingun. The Bell 222, the military doesn't fly them, but many are still in service today. Although, all that I've saw were cargo flights.
@@spvillano I know I am not stupid and can not be fooled into someone telling me that an AH64 even remotely looks like Airwoof. I found the controls to be nicely balanced. Stable enough that it didn't wobbly around at the slightest touch but also response enough for precision flying.
Have you tried the AH-64 in DCS? That's really cool. A little sensitive with the bank (I once sneezed when flying and did a barrel roll) but it's fun to fly. The monocle is really effective in VR, although I've heard it gives some people a headache.
There's a no weapons policy for MSFS. There some 3rd party aircraft with weapons but they can't be distributed through the Marketplace so they tend to not be that common.
@@flightsoficarus Tell me something that I don't know. I for bring back Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator. Just stick it into the career's section of 2024.
It's a great looking 222B but it isn't Airwolf and that makes it a no from me, seeing as there is at least one proper Airwolf in the works. I don't need the guns and rockets (as they're useless), or even the correct cockpit but I do want the jet engines visible. Right now, it's just a reskinned 222B, which unfortunately isn't Airwolf. It's still a nice helicopter though, if you don't want Airwolf. 🙂
That's fair. I would like to see a mod with the extra bodywork bits. I'm definitely keep an eye on the Airwold WIP but for now this is close enough for me.

It's not the most realistic flight model admittedly but it's still fun to fly. I definitely think MSFS needs to do more work on helicopter support. There's no training like there is planes and gliders, no bush trips and only a couple discovery flights and the native flight model needs work. Hopefully this will come in time.

@@flightsoficarus ok thank you! I'm a novice with flight sims
Dat Music!!! perfect
Great Video! What are the specs of your PC to run MS FS and such a good frame rate?
Water cooled i9-13900K, 64Gb Ram, Nvidia RTX 3090 and SSDs. I'm fairly sure the RGB leds in the case help too 🤣
@@flightsoficarus Thank You! I am going to see if my nephew can help me build one
How cool was this show
With today’s technology you would think this sim would be a whole lot better than it is.
The theme song is one of the best of the 80's only topped by Knight Rider
Airwolf and Knight Rider were the theme tunes of my childhood.
"How about a little compassion?"
"How about a little compression?"
I still love the show
Query: Just curious: Isn't there the capability to make the start-up of a heli as easy, as say, a modern automobile?
"Put a bullpup on the line..."
Uhhhh, you cant do the near flip with the turbine boost as those flame thingys out the back 😆
It was the 80s, you could do anything 🤣
I might take a crack at it.
and turbo ?
How can i contact you mate?
I've added a contact email to the About section of my channel.
Not showing in there ??

a used to love this show 😂
Does this sim make you worry about ground resonance?
An Airwolf bodykit would be awesome 😍
Still the only helicopter I've bought and will buy in msfs so far. I was positivly surprieced. It is great fun to fly. But, normaly I fly helos in another sim
It would be cool to see the proper bodykit. There are some quite decent helos in MSFS now but also some shockers.
The military should have fleets of Airwoof.
I think you may have insulted your own intelligence by trying to convince me that an Apache is Airwoof when it is not.
Next you will be telling me that the Xbomber looks like DI AX and Visa versa .
@@davidrobertson5700 I'm speaking of that which exists, if we're speaking of what doesn't exist, then the military should have thousands of NCC-1701-G's.
And whatinfuck is an Airwoof? The video references Airwolf.
@0:12 The intro brings joy, even today, so many years after! Worst show ever, but fun to watch.
Oh it was pure 80s cheese that was part of it's beauty 😂. But that intro never fails to make me grin like a 5 year old.
we need an airwolf mod for this
I assume this is only for pc, not xbox.
I believe it is available in the Marketplace so should be available on Xbox.
@@flightsoficarus I will check it out when my Xbox arrives.
No chain guns..no ADF pod…no turbos…no sale!
Is it realistic controls or like overly sensitive and fake
I found the controls to be nicely balanced. Stable enough that it didn't wobbly around at the slightest touch but also response enough for precision flying.
Wow, all you would have to do is rewire a couple of switches to a different location, and nobody is stealing your helicopter...
It's missing the jet boosters! lol
Sadly yes. But it still gives those Airwolf vjbes.
nice review :)
Thanks ☺
Where's the turbo button lol
You have to do it the way they did on the show. Record it then play it back at double speed while making whooshing noises 😂
This is NOT the "Lady" but not too shabby for a simulation.
Can't beat an AH-64 in reality lol. I want one sooooo bad!!
Have you tried the AH-64 in DCS? That's really cool. A little sensitive with the bank (I once sneezed when flying and did a barrel roll) but it's fun to fly. The monocle is really effective in VR, although I've heard it gives some people a headache.
@@flightsoficarus I haven't but I 'm sure that must have been fun!
Just nitpicking but that was not a barrel roll that was an aileron roll. Nice review anyways.
Fantástica máquina.
Less of a loop the loop and more of an aerial backflip as there was very little other movement 😅😂
To be fair, when you're upside down in a helicopter, you don't really wanna hang around 😂
This is great but there is no chain guns or hell fires.
@@flightsoficarus Yeah, as always it's each to their own depending on what you want.
🤣I just loved this review, for a damn good module within MSFS2020
If only it had the real Airwolf features... :)
BTW, your voice somehow keeps triggering my subwoofer, as if you'd be just barely hitting the mic sometimes or it doesn't have good pop filtering. Just sayin ^^
Yeah it would be nice if it had the bodykit.
I'm also using a different mic now as my other one did require me to keep my head absolutely still.
@@flightsoficarus Noticed that already when watching the GotFriends Canoe video, audio was better :)
what no turbos lol
My man.
You need a new Rig :D
What? No rocket launcher?
If is sounds the same 😂❤
need now helmet original mod
The helmet would be amazing!
Flight model seems absolutely horrible sadly.. Guess MSFS still has a ways to go for modeling Helo's until then DCS is best you will get other than the older X-plane 12....
It's not the most realistic flight model admittedly but it's still fun to fly. I definitely think MSFS needs to do more work on helicopter support. There's no training like there is planes and gliders, no bush trips and only a couple discovery flights and the native flight model needs work. Hopefully this will come in time.
Super!!!

It can not make in real ? What stop it ?
Less like airwolf and more like airorca…
Wouldn't let me like more than once. Sorry I tried
😄 I appreciate the effort
This isn't a real review - it's a paid endorsement.
