We installed this on #BubbasGarageTv. I think you will be ok. 4 Gallons of fuel weighs about 6 pounds and 4 gallons of water weighs about 8 pounds. With that said I think the mount works descent with stock tires depending on your pax configuration. The 3 Gallon RotoPax fuel is pushing it as it hits the tail light guards with stock tires on our installation. Not really sure about running 35 inch tires as noted in the video. It is however nice to see that they made the new bracket so that you can put your covers back on the passenger side. We had to mod our brackets to get them to fit. The pax will wobble when loaded. All in all a great mount for price if your looking for something for day to day use.
@@BubbasgarageTv 4 gallons of fuel weights 6 lbs and 4 gallons of water weighs 8lbs...???? 4 gallons of fuel weighs about 25 lbs and 4 gallons of water weighs 34lbs.. So yes a concern about weight on the tailgate is valid. With an average 35"x12.50 tire/wheel combo weighing in at about 85lbs add to that another 25 to 30lbs and you have over 110lbs, which is about double the weight on the tailgate than the manufacturer put on. Not to say that it probably cant take it and will be alright, but when the tailgate is open, its most vulnerable to metal fatigue on the hinges and mounting.
@@sifilmaker Your absolutely correct. Not sure how I got my numbers wrong but I sure did. With that said. It really depends on what you are running. Lets face it this mount is designed to carry 1 maybe 2 Pax. that and a stock tire your really not adding that much more weight. If your running 35's on the stock tailgate with no carrier or reinforced hinges, then thats another issue all together. Side note, we have taken measurements on this one. Your pushing it using this mount and 33's. Hope that helps. Thanks for correcting me.
@@BubbasgarageTv after less than a year the mount is AWFUL,full of rust and always do some weird noises, this is the worst jeep mod ever. The idea is good but this is cheap and not good quality.I'm already repaited it 3 times.
I just tried to install mine. The issue I'm having is that the bottom bolts when removed the back plate falls down inside the tailgate. When I try to put the bolts in they are just not catching that bottom back plate inside the tailgate. Any idea why that back plate is falling down?
I liked your install but there wasn't a section on how to install the locks on metal steel panel. I have a red and white containers to install 3 gal' red and a 2 gal white. this needs two locks and different install from the 4 gal you did. can you explain how to install the different systems instead of the most popular for the long haulers. us old people need a little more explaining. thanks
My advice is to avoid purchasing this if at all possible. If you must purchase save yourself a lot of grief with two simple adjustments. The door WILL sag when you remove the 4 bolts. Prevent this by shimming it while everything bis still bolted. The tolerances of the unit are not well thought out. The groove for the L brackets is too long on the left side and allows placing the L brackets so they obstruct the mounting holes. Most importantly, the tolerances near the plastic covers are insufficient and can obstruct the motion of the door no matter how much care you exercise before tightening the mounting bolts. Can be fixed by shaving off a bit of the plastic but this issue could have been prevent by pulling in the end of the bracket 1/16 inch. YT does does not allow image upload in the comments or I would have provided an image to illustrate. Minor oversights add to a good deal of frustration and extra work. Finally, the plastic hinge covers are not interchangeable, pay attention when you remove them. My suggestion is not to remove them at all since they provide a useful alignment guide for the placement of the support brackets.
Wish they made one that fit some heavy duty tire carriers like the teraflex one
I'm having trouble getting the outside hinge covers back on. They just don't seem to fit with the PAX mount in place. Any tips?
is this this being made and sold?
How do i mount rotopax to a teraflex bracket? I dont want the hi-lift just the rotopax. I only see people attaching rotopax to the hi-lift bracket
really like this product, looks nice and easy.My only consern is all this weight on the stock tailgate hinges.

@@BubbasgarageTv I have the mount with a 33" tire. The weight isn't an issue. I'm running a 3.5 gallon Fuelpax.
will this work with a smittybuilt heavy duty hinge tire carrier.
would this fit on JL?
Same question
These guys seem to be very selective on what questions they answer. I am looking for another product because of lack of support of this brand.

If you would like send us an email at support@rotopax.com we would be happy to assist you with this question.
Does this work for two, 2 gallon tanks?

Don't buy the locks...
what can i use for a Jeep Wrangler TJ?
Hi great video. Will this work with the smittybilt tire carrier?
No, it only works with the factory hinges.
What brand drill did you use to remove the hinges?! Very nice to the point video 👍
milwaukee m12 fuel ratchet
Can this mount to Teraflex rear tire carrier and 37” tire? 15 Wrangler 4dr.
You'd need the Teraflex Hijack mount and Rotopax mounting plate. That will work with a 37" tire. Unfortunately it's a lot more expensive.
Michael Cook i dont want a hi-lift. Theres no option to just mount rotopax?

I got this one, and the problem I noticed is that it wiggles a lot.
how did it work out for you?
Can I use this with 37" tires? i'm guessing the answer it no since you stated there was a stock and 35" tire bolt pattern.
Thanks
Were you able to fit 37's? I have 35's but I am iffy about buying this..
