That was good of you to let that kid go fish your hole after u got 2 out if there. Bet it made his day big time .love your videos dude
For sure the best part of this vid.. pass on the knowledge!
Totally agree. What a great thing to do - pass along knowledge unselfishly. Shows in how you put your videos together, too - very instructional.
@@forkmonkey Undeniably right. Wonderful.
I just thought that dude!
I know this guy in real life he’s a dbag
While everyone is obsessed with tuna, and tuna based sushi. i'll still always go for Unagi first. So damn good. Nice job man!
Yeah! I personally don’t like the taste of tuna, but I LOVE unagi! Especially barbecued!!
@Dead Signal not can based tuna. Fresh cut.
I like having all 3 rolls/sashimi types salmon/tuna/eel all real good

@@lucian6830 Feel pain, thank you so much. This is great stuff. Getting lost in this like, forever...
Seeing a good fillet job is so satisfying 👍🏼 The first fishing I learned was poke poling. We use to catch 2-3 ft ones on Treasure Island 10+ years ago. I love the japanese style videos man hits home for me.
Nick Fish there’s an actual treasure island?
@@bkirstie In San Francisco 👍🏼
Thought your name was nick fry lmfao
Leon Bellinger bro me too 😂💀
@@bkirstie also one in Florida near Tampa but more of a tourist and swimming beach area.....I would love to go fishing at the West Coast Treasure Island.
Kia ora Taku and Jocelyn. Taku, you never fail to impress me with your knowledge of rock foraging techniques. Since I was a 4-year-old, I've loved doing the same thing. My father introduced us to the ocean, foraging, fishing, netting, diving, and cooking over a fire after. Now, to be able to do this with my grandsons is exciting and fun. Your camera person always does an excellent job. Keep doing it bro, your a master out doors.
Best episode yet. You’re only getting better, man! 👍
MC MLee Best comment yet. You’re only getting better, man! 👍👍
Orly is boss
Black kid 🧒
MC MLee I agree. I keep coming back to watch the video again and wishing I could try some 😭
Isn´t sushi suposed to be raw fish ?
this is one of the best most inspirational video that I've seen i literally want to go catch an eel right now and surprise my family thank you so much for teaching me and giving me the opportunity to have a great moment with my son
Hey bro, why not just like do an Eel burrito or some ceviche with avocado cilantro celery and red onion? Scoop it up with tortilla chips and your family be like dude wtf, bro? Seriously.
I love this dude. He’s so damn wholesome. It’s kinda awkward at times but like damn
I don't find him awkward. More like softspoken wise asian man.
nothing awkward about any of these videos, its prolly awkward because ur a zoomer maybe?
@@flamechicken415 have you seen him clamming with jocelyn? 😂😂😂
righteous. You are soft spoken but your skills do the rest of the talking
3:51 I'm glad this kid gets the meaning of taking good advice
"Thanks for the advice"
That's the best feeling in the world.
You made that kid a better fisherman.
Great video! Will we ever see indoor chef life? Curious about your restaurant that's so cool!
If you guys wanna see it!
Outdoor Chef Life we do!!
Yes we do!
@@OutdoorChefLife You should make a separate channel, or make it a separate series on this channel. It really is a brilliant idea.
Outdoor Chef Life hey love your vids brotha man! What kind of knife is that looks nicely made?
Saw one video and instantly deemed you the best catch and cook channel I've ever seen.
This dude would be the best kind of friend to have around. Damn you could start a catch/forage and cook/sushi experience company.
I would come out every weekend. I live in the same area!
Rewatching this and watch y’all now make me feel like I’m watch y’all grow.. awesomeness!!
One of my favourite dishes, eels a love them even though the majority of people do not.
I love them too.
I can't eat seafood 😔. Allergies.
Taku’s knifework is SO clean 👌🏻
Wow watching you work with that knife is amazing, I'm going to have to give this recipe a try for sure. Thanky you for sharing with us.
After watching your videos, you make me wanna try foods, that i wouldn't normally try. So thank you. 😄👍
Hi chef, I love you recipes especially when you use seasonings from nature like sour grass and sea salt from a puddle that evaporated.
GREAT VID TAKU!! NOTHING LIKE SHARING TIME OVER A GREAT MEAL WITH YOUR LADY !!! DEFINITELY A KEEPER!!! TAUGHT MY GIRLFRIEND TO FISH THEN SURF !!! 26 YEARS OF ADVENTURES!! KEEP IT GOING BRADDAH!!
Man...looks so Ono!!! Such a great foraging and eating partner. Keep them vids coming. My 3 favorites: Outdoor chef life, Fisherman's Life, philosophy D...you guys rock!! But your food design is da bomb!! 😁😁😁
Superb craftsmanship, nice to see the kid having a go too. 👏👏
This is the content ive been missing all my life.
Absolutely the best UA-cam video of cleaning MFE.
That fillet job 😭so satisfying! You need a million more subs!
Outstanding, from one chef to another. I really like how you go from harvest to table, with easy to follow instructions. Good job
I LOVE unagi sushi and this ep. just made me salivated big time
it seems like Taku isnt really himself when hes talking in front of the camera, or doing a voiceover, like he is when hes narrating the go pro. honestly its refreshing. New favorite youtube show.
Hi, Noah here from Waller, Tx.
WOW loving your adventures. This is a great video. Amazing HD quality. Keep up the great work on the videos.
I like how resourceful you are with your setup. Your food looks great.
That's right "Damn" looks so good!!!! Very good tutorial. Taku you the man!
im so happy for you taku please stay awesome just the way you are my man
Great catch/cook and how to video. Kudos to the camera woman (sorry didn't want to butcher the spelling) with the great angles during the fillet job. I like the thick spine on your knife. There is a nice Japanese knife store in Berkeley that has really good knives. I might pop in again to check some out. I know they are not cheap but you can't beat the quality. Thanks for sharing.
When people sit and eat the food they just made, that's when I buy in. I love it, really cool episode.
Phenomenal video! Im going out tomorrow to try and catch some eel.
My dad and I poke poled for eel up and down central coast 65 years ago
Few other Anglos fished for them which was fine for us!
How great it would have been to know the unagi style preparation
I can’t fish reefs now but maybe the jetty
Thanks for great memories
Dude that is damn close to the same eel I had in those little hole in the wall bar/bbq joints in Okinawa. Food was absolutely amazing.
Prickleback also makes excellent fish-n-chips using panko bread crumbs. Enjoying all of you catching & cooking videos!
Awesome knife skills! Looks soooo good with that caramelized sauce
Just found your channel from fishermens life. Love it, instantly subscribed
Tom Simpson same.
Great vid... sometimes I add fresh ginger to the sauce. I will put the fins in next time.! Usually discard.
Watching your UA-cam channel is so relaxing. Love watching after work
Dope man:)
Already subscribed to your Chanel, love from Malaysia
If you're using wood/bamboo skewers for barbecue, you can soak them into water to prevent from burning and then breaking~
Thanks for the nice video!
What’s up Taku!!! 👍🏻 poke poling is on my bucket list!
Dude!! that's so cool your showing us how to catch and cook, thanks bratha, keep those vid's commin.
Just came across from 1 of fishermans life videos great video u have here keep it up
Even though I'm not a fan of raw fish but those eel roll are to die for I can eat that all day! Thanks for showing how that's done. I still enjoy the way you make sushi, very talented chef skills.
Damn you for making me so hungry! 🤣
Wow...your Deba skills are just amazing!
AND washing down with some Sapporo?? Man, I need to run to the H mart now and pick up some Unagi...
Very cool. Made me wince when you used that nice Deba to hammer nails!
I gotta visit Hinata someday and try your cooking man. Much love from Socal!
You did good letting that kid fish that hole. It shows you have a good heart! Keep up the great work.
i amDIGGING the hat lol
MY MOUTH IS WATERING. DAMN! Great work to both of you.
I like ur style man! good stuff and always eating with some beer =)
When youtube reccomends me good channels like these I love it
dang man, that thumbnail already got my my mouth watering and i didn't even watch the vid yet 😋
eel is some of my favorite foods, its actually so good, would love to experience something like this one day
14:33 biggest pieces of eel pieces I’ve ever seen! :o
Not really an eel. It's just called that because of its look.
My mouth is watering like Niagara Falls! Cheers!
A super quality knife tough enough to be used as a hammer......
Yay i found a new UA-cam channel for outdoor, I love your videos.
Damn you!! I'm hungry now and all I have is spaghetti.
All I got is 12 funky ass dollars im trying to hold onto
Dude. You’re an inspiration I’m from wv and I’ve been making sushi with trout, came across this page! I’m so inspired! Maybe some day I could join you on an adventure! Also the fact you taught those kids so much more than you realize made my day!
Bruh, this is making me hungry lol.
Salivating right from the cutting board! Never have eaten eel with skin on. Wonderful presentation!
Dude I feel like u, Terada and fisherman’s life have a group chat on like messages or something
You're right they recently did a collab.
How can anyone give this video a thumbs down? There was so much information on preparing and cooking fish...
really enjoying your content...and im NOT a fish eater
Wellington Smithopolis Esq. hey you don’t have to like the product to recognize well made content
I think that was my favorite episode so far. And I loved cooking over coals like that. Thanks for sharing!
Put a ring on her dawg.
Great .... now I want bbq eel... sigh... lol. Great giving your spot up to the kid, nice of you. Food looks delish as always...
He is like the cool asian in class that was smart as hell and gave u food that fckn was amazing!
looks so good! you can soak the wood/bamboo skewers in water, prior to grilling, to prevent the skewers from burning. but of course, metal skewers can be reused and thus better option
If this was Fisherman’s Life, I guarantee he’s gonna cook it with butter
guarantee you
This is my second time watching this video lol. Surprisingly your channel was brought to my attention by my outdoorsy husband. I usually don’t watch the same things he does. I was hooked by how you make sushi right on the spot. I LOVE sushi and watching videos of them. I can’t eat any now cause I’m preggo 😢. I love unagi!! Keep up the good work! You’re videos are soo interesting.
You can still eat unagi since it's cooked!
"Crazy bug" from 15:40 and 238 of its siblings disliked this video
You and Jocelyn at the end were cute lol ... "Woo, that was a good one" "HAI!"
Damn that would be perfect with some avocado.
Rocky P n butter.
both avocado and butter are greasy soft flavored ingredients... why would you put them together with eel, another greasy but tastier ingredient?
You should make more videos like this it's both entertaining and educational, shows viewers how to live and survive off of the most peculiar ways of fishing. And some might great ingredients at that. I never knew of a fishing technique like this but I'm intrigued with it very much
Well done! Soak your skewers next time. ;)
Knife is life! I always save the BBQ eel for last! It's like dessert!!
Can you do a tutorial on how you caught your girl? One who goes out fishing with you and basically is down for anything? Please show step by step instructions 😂😂🤣🤣😭
Step 1 Be a chef? 😂
grimspectre no kidding lol. Food always attracts women lol
I know you're just joking, but here I go anyways. Make the first time fishing experience memorable, or she'll be reluctant to go next time. Also be prepared to be busy cus you're gonna have to re-tie the rigs whenever shes snags them...it'll happen alot..... Small price to pay for her company.
I’m so glad I found your channel. You’re one of the few outdoor catching channels who knows how to cook.
I don’t even like sea food, why am I watching this
21 Problems maybe youtube is trying to say try something new
Best one yet!
15:15 did he cumpie💀
*Creampie*
That fin pull was so satisfying
Absolutely loved the video getting better and better
I don’t even like Sushi my wife does she is from Okinawa …. But bro I swear u make that stuff look good to wear I wanna eat it all the time real talk!! I just made her some taco rice tonight and she was like what u know about that ok baby .. so thank you and keep the lessons coming!!! !!!
Wow! Great fishing skills and nice sharing with some kids for fishing eels as well. Very nice and clean Cut/Grill. Nice job,
youre such a great teacher / instructor. nice work!
holy fuggin shizz, the catching, filleting, and cooking were on POINT! I learned so much man, thanks as always
I love all the small details like how you rotate the skewer when pulling it from the eel meat! Can really tell you've done this many times before!
