    Golden Ration A.K.A Fibonacci Sequence in Visual Form for all you mathematicians

      Im surprised that in a 12 minute long video about the Fibonacci sequence, he didn't mention Fibonacci at all

    • @cburg
      @cburg 7 років тому +5

      Free To Use Channel Art Templates I think Will said "Fibonacci" once. Most designers aren't mathematicians so it's probably best not to confuse people.

      CBurg I said it once but kept the same terminology in case it confused beginners! Thanks for pointing this out! ❤

    Just as a heads up to anyone trying to create a spiral using this method, make sure your W:H Proportions are constrained. If you don't do this you will just be changing the width and your spiral will look a little off. You can do this by clicking that chain icon to the right of the Width and Height in the Transform tool pallet. Great video btw!

  • @asathomas84
    @asathomas84 5 років тому +59

    Easier way to make the spiral: Use the spiral tool, and enter 61.81% decay.

    This is a perfect example of "The more I learn, the less I know". A couple of decades ago, I bought an iMac from a friend and it came with Illustrator as well as Photoshop (Photoshop 4!!!). I taught myself how to use it (no UA-cam back then) and after a while, I was confident enough to offer to make logos for friends who were in a rock band, etc... I thought that I was great at it but now I realize that I had no idea what I was doing and why I made the decisions I made. I only relied on trying this, erasing, trying that, add this, keep that...until I was satisfied. If only I had known someone like you with all your knowledge, I would have improved 100 times faster!!! I really appreciate that you^re taking the time and the work to share your knowledge with all of us! I just discovered your chanel and of course, I've subscribed because I plan to watch all of your videos! I just can't get enough!!!!
    Again, thank you so much for doing this! Cheers from a guy from Luxembourg, Europe.

    You should clarify that the grid with the circles is the Fibonacci Sequence and the grid with the spiral is the golden ratio. I was confused at first why the one has two equal-size small squares and the other one ends with a small rectangle.

    Hey Will, recently discovered your channel, via thefutur!, and loving it so far. BUT, i am a little confused by your workings here as when you draw the circles and divide etc you get perfect squares each time, which makes sense, then then when you draw the quarter circle pieces into a curve, and draw a box around it, the 2 smallest boxes are no longer square, so the curve can't fit into the circle version and vice versa, what's going on here please?

    Hey Will I have a question..
    When using this method is there a specific size i am supposed to leave the swirl when making a logo. so for example, you said the circles we are not supposed to scale up the size, so can the swirl be scaled up for use. I am not sure if that is making correct sense but I am trying to learn how to best use Golden Ratio in my art
