Proof that bullet construction is the most important part. The rifle bullet was moving fast enough to expand causing more drag and depositing more energy sooner. Much better terminal performance than the same bullet fired from the pistol’s short barrel. Bullet wasn’t moving fast enough to perform properly.
Loved this video. I was surprised also that the pistol penetrated deeper than the rifle. Being retired LE I’ve put some lead down range and did not expect that.
Interesting video thank you. Where are you located, it looks similar to my home turf of the Ozarks would be my guess. Maybe the Blue Ridge Mountains but my first guess would be the Ozarks.
with the extra spin and muzzle velocity of the rifle barrel you got less penetration BUT it would have done more internal damage which equates to stopping power
Great video, and I love this stuff, I have quite a few and used to reload and shoot all the time till I got that boat, I have to get back at it, too much $$$ rapped up in it, thanks for sharing Darrel!!!
Nice video. I'm not surprised with the results tbh. That's a very jaunty pistol you have there with that scope on top. I like it. I am surprised by how many sheets it went through. There's some power in that pistol's punch.
Dirty Harry used a Smith and Wesson and that Ruger is not nickel plated and it is a REVOLVER not a pistol. Do you know anything about what you are saying?
More velocity from the longer rifle barrel = more expansion, which = more damage. It has less penetration due to dumping its energy earlier with the expansion. great test to see that longer barrels are superior.

You are correct. I figured it out fast.
If you decide to try it again I’d be interested in seeing how a standard soft point compared out of the pistol.
Wowwww..His strength is extraordinary... able to penetrate multiple layers.. but the gun is stronger than the long barrel

We learn every day
That was pretty cool to watch. I look forward to seeing more.
I love the Marlin!! I have the same gun in .35 Remington !
And 30/30
At the end, it felt like you were comparing apples to oranges. ;)
Thanks for watching

Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching
I have a S&W model 29 with a 2x scope and it's deadly on deer out to 85 yds with Hornady 225 gr XTP home defense loads. Enjoyed your video.
Thanks
