      @@buffalosoutdoors I have to admit man, Ruger definitely makes quality revolvers that are built like tanks, which is why I bought myself a GP100 in .357 Magnum about 2-years ago and is one of my carry guns.
      i'm actually looking into getting a .44 Magnum revolver, either the Model-629 from Smith-&-Wesson or the Ruger Super Redhawk. i'm leaning more towards the Super Redhawk, since one of my Australian buddies used to hunt wild hogs with one and it was his idea that I get the GP100 that I now own.
      Besides, if i'm gonna upgrade my Desert Eagle to .50AE (I technically have "YOU" to thank for that) potentially for my 45th birthday, the Ruger Super Redhawk in .44 Magnum will be a perfect side-grade, as i'll still have rounds leftover to save for a rainy day.

    You apologized for the spread on the silhouette at 50 and 100 yards. Goodness I would have been happy to have hit the target once at that range. You're a great shot. That's certainly a hand cannon.

    I just bought a brand new one today. I have lots of brass, reloading dies, bullet molds (even Elmer Keith Classic) for many years but never had the gun to use it in. I figured it was about time to change that. Prior to this my largest and most powerful handguns are 10mms and a .357 Magnum. I've wanted a .44 Magnum for a very long time and have been doing this since 1982. When the small/medium caliber stuff isn't getting it done, I can reach for this now.

    Fine shooting double action at those distances! A 7 1/2" SRH 44 Mag. was the most accurate revolver I ever owned. It was good enough I went ahead and scoped it to take full advantage. A smoothing of all "rubbing" action surfaces and a good spring kit gave it an exceptional trigger.

      @@garthc5994 if you buy the spring kit you get three different hammer spring weights and two trigger return springs. You have to test your gun. My Ruger GP100 had light trigger strikes on double action shooting with the lightest hammer spring. The lightest trigger return made the trigger too light for my taste.

    Posting from the UK I really appreciate these handgun videos. We lost our handguns in 1997 after the Dunblane tragedy which basically destroyed handgun ownership here apart from American civil war type black powder revolvers. Back in 1980 I purchased a S&W 696 44 magnum which at that time had recessed cylinders, how I wish I could own it now. Please don't allow your politicians take you guys and gals to go down that road. Great videos Buffalo, keep it up.

    Hi Buffalo. Years ago the Redhawk Sights were as today steel, but years ago the Security Six blade was steel, but the sight was aluminum. I remember seeing Security Sixes the to be repaired in the gun rack in Border Patrol headquarters. It was filled with Security Sixes with broken rear sight assemblies. When I was stationed at the Border Patrol Academy Firearms Division we had the occasion to obtain 120 new Stainless Steel Security Sixes and knowing the the aluminum read sight was the achilles heel of that weapon I was able to have Redhawk rear sights installed that were all steel in lieu of the standard Aluminum assembly. Big difference!

    Ruger makes the best revolvers in the world, hands down. I'm a huge Blackhawk fan. I grew up shooting single sixes and Blackhawks. Actually back in November 2020 , I got a little money from my parents for a piece of land they sold. So I decided to buy myself a good, reliable carry gun. My choice was a GP100 357 mag with a 4" barrel. Sadly, the only revolvers I could find in my little town was Taurus snubbies and I refuse to trust my life with a Taurus. So I ended up getting a Springfield 4" 1911 45 with an aluminum frame because I don't trust a 9mm to stop anything larger than a dog. The only drawback is that I can't use +Ps. Well, I'm not supposed to, but I grabbed a box of 220 gr Hornady Critical Duty rounds for woods bumming against black bears and really cold days when even thugs wear real coats. I've been shooting for 50 years, so I know that a few rounds of the hot stuff ain't gonna hurt the gun. Same goes for a 38 Special. I'm planning on getting my paws on some HSTs, + Ps or not. Besides, my life and the life of my mom is worth more than any gun ever made. I'm mostly disabled and not worth very much for most things, but I'm an extremely loyal and aggressive guard dog. I'm at least happy that mom can feel safe in this screwed up, woke, liberal country that we are forced to live in nowadays. I don't go to sleep until around 8 am, so if anything or anyone comes around the house looking for trouble, it'll be the very last thing they do. Keep up the awesome videos and stay safe and free 🙏

      When you're talking about Tom Knapp and Bob Munden you're talking about my heroes! I'm over near Morehead but we travel a lot all through the Eastern part of the state.

    Good day eh, now that is some mighty fine shooting Buffalo, such a beautiful hand cannon, you know, I just learned bout those little shot shells, I never knew those were made, wth, must be for close range, guess at my age I'm still learning, lol, have a good one bud, shakyjake out.

      Yeah they don't have much range to them, good for snakes and such.

    Mighty nice hunting handgun. I have harvested deer with the 9" back in late 90s. Rugged & Reliable. Great shooting sir. I was quite impressed with hits at 100. Deer at 75 is my limit.

      @buffalosoutdoors  Рік тому +2

      That's awesome! Yeah I have to have a very high percentage shot on deer before I'll take it. Good for you for doing the same. Too many people want to brag about how far away they shoot at deer rather than how close they got before pulling the trigger.

    My old hands aren't as happy firing .44 Mag as they were. However, .44 Special is still a deadly round; it is heftier and faster than .45 ACP, depending on what you buy. Oh, I love the rooster crowing in the background. Thanks for a great video. --Old Guy

    It’s a big gun but I really like the way it shoots. I have an older version like that one with the interchangeable front sight. No screws to come loose.
