If ancient humans had such unique abilities tied directly to dark, it makes a lot more sense Gwyn would be so afraid of them. In addition to the black flame, there's also the lore tidbit of ancient soul arts being fire sorcery, so maybe man had a simultaneous link to both dark and fire, which would make the dark fire thing make even more sense.

I haven't watched all your videos yet, so maybe it's been addressed, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on anything relating to chloranthy, which seems pretty tightly married to the Seal of Fire in that they both originate from the Ringed City and tie into Oolacile. The statue we find just before the Church in TRC shows Gwyn and a representative of the pygmy exchanging a crown for a chloranthy ring. Chloranthy is a type of infection plants can get that causes phyllomorphy; the condition where rather than flowering, the plant produces flower-shaped leaf material. Green Blossoms, in other words. It's strange that this much of the lore centers around, apparently, marginal improvements to stamina regeneration, but that's From for you. Chloranthy as a process is a type of reverse metamorphosis, where a mature part of a plant (the flower) reverts to a state like what's usually associated with growth and youth (the green leaf/stem). We know that green plant symbols are associated with Gwyn's direct family. TRC tells us explicitly that Filianore is Gwyn's youngest, her crest is Young Grass, and she is clearly associated with eternal youth (since her sleep allows the cycles to continue). It's easy to see why this process - essentially, the reversal of aging - aids in restoring one's stamina. In the former case (ring rests on Gwyn's finger), it could just be yet another symbol of Gwyn and his family. For the latter case (both crown and ring are a gift): One of Hawkshaw's videos makes a compelling argument that the green flower symbol is a calling card of the Nameless Blacksmith Deity in his works. He was likely responsible for the crafting of the gods' equipment as well as their cities like Anor Londo, and likely by extension the Ringed City. If you look at it as though Gwyn is gifting the ring to the Hollow, you could see it as Gwyn bestowing the gift of the Blacksmith's craft - The Ringed City itself - to them, as well as their rule over it. However, I've heard it argued a bit more convincingly in a lore discord that the Green Flower and various Grass Crests are instead only a symbol of Gwyn and his family, and therefore NOT specific to the Nameless Blacksmith. If you still look at it as though he's bestowing both as gifts upon the Hollow, then perhaps it could symbolize that he is sharing his Eternal Life - the Gods' ability to cling to youth - with the pygmies, who keep in mind are humans and therefore likely subject to death prior to the Undead Curse. It's a poisoned gift, however, perhaps symbolized by the weight of the crown and the what comes with the City itself - Filianore, the Undead curse, the Seal of Fire. Gwyn feared the Dark, the reality of being Human, and cursed humanity and the world itself forever trying to escape it, that much we know, and the statue could well symbolize that. Your interpretation of an exchange, however, is very interesting to me. after reading the whole theory, see this
www.reddit.com/r/darksouls3/comments/6c4it5/theory_manus_and_filianore_share_an_incredible/
my conclusion after reading EVERYTHING is that Manus was the furtive pygmy, he was promised to the filianore. Like Gwyn, Manus also split his soul; pygmy lords have larger fragments, humanity smaller fragments. Gwyn's betrayal extends the era of fire in collusion with the pygmies of the ringed city.
Filianore sleeps and time stops. The era of the pygmies of the ring city would never end as long as Filianore slept. Manus and Filianore are kept apart.
Kaarthe wanted to usurp the fire SINCE DARK SOULS 1. For that it was necessary a very powerful being with a great presence of the ABYSS (HUMANITY). Your first option is the first lord of the dark souls - Manus. He tries to resurrect Manus to use the flame. Manus goes crazy because of the loss of Filianore. Plan failed.
Kaarthe looks for another way, to transform the four kings into lord of hollows, since they have the first flame given by Gwyn and fragments of Dark Souls - after all, they are human. Weak kings are corrupted by the abyss. The plan again fails.
Kaarthe understands that the flame must be too fragile to be usurped. The Dark Lord must become stronger. The plan is to absorb the royal family's dark sigil in Astora. Your lord is defeated, but Astora is destroyed. Kaarthe, sable church, continues to act in the shadows in order to create a human that has the soul of the lords and a great abyss in itself (many dark sigils) to usurp the first flame.
My question is: WHERE VELKA / Caitha FIT?
@@ChannelYoshimitsu Velka is Dragon.
And I think she is First Flame.
Super interesting!
Thank you! Love your channel too!
Since flamme is linked to human it makes sense that flann is human
豊穣 I'd say 'rich harvest' but since fertility brings rich harvest, 豊穣 translated to 'fertility' is kind of like an indirect expression.
