Winter Pike fishing with Weedless lures! (Savage Gear goby shad)

- These clips are from my first time out on my Savage gear E-Rider kayak! took me abou 3 hours to find some fish/find out what they wanted but when I did they were fired up! I had to fish weedless because all the pike seemed to be in the small shallow chanels rather than the deeper water.

Having fished multiple s in different sizes and colors, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 this is by far my favorite. One thing to be aware of is the sided willow blade. One side is silver and the other is the green/orange shown. This is not bad, just unconventional. In terms of fishing, I have found the lure works just fine without a tail like a craw or shad. That addition is up to you. Also, the hook part where you attach the swivel snap or tie the line is a problem on baits these days, since it's able to slide up and down. However this lure seems to be tight enough that that doesn't happen often, and you can solve it by putting a thin slice of medical tube over the hook before attaching the line. Like others have said, it's really magic on a good windy day.

I haven't seen a single hook do damage like that on a mature pike, so I think I have to have a rethink on big singles. Great video as always.

Always the same here.. looking at ALL the older LMAB vids with DB over and over again, lucky there is hundreds of them. DB is the the pike Fisher i take and gather most info and opinions from, more so from him than any other piker and im living in Sweden where we have PLENTY of pikers on the tube.
I really hope DB comes back and do some new vid now and then

Hi Dan, love the look of the yak and your videos. How would you compare it against a Float Tube; have you ever used one? I've been trying to decide what to take and ended up ordering myself SG float tube, will have video coming up soon. Also, have a porta bote, hence i went for the tube. take a look at my channel when you get a sec.

I got abu garcia but I do prefer Shakespeare ugly stick, considering the money you will pay for this rod it's simply worth it to have one in your fishing room. It won't disappoint you.

Something I’ve learned while fishing with weed less lures is to set the hook straight up rather than to the side. Unsure if you knew this already but hopefully it’s helpful advice. Great video as always Dan, glad you’re enjoying the kayak!

Nice video man! I always used a float to catch bream and roach. Recently i tried something new to catch pike/perch. Any advice for me in the winter? I use shads but they keep getting stuck because of plants on the bottom...
it's good to see you enter those narrow river chanel with that kayak. but the electrods seems a bit danger if they are not waterproof haha

the pike here in Germany are rather sleepy and stick to the ground most of the time..
Weedless are crap, you need to wait 1 - 2 SECONDS to hook em. The double spiked single stinger hook on a stinger wire added to the weedless hook gives you a massive chanse to hook em proper. BUT the hook can completly ruin the mouth on pike. Its made of so thick wire that hook it break the pikes jaws. I have some of them hooks but they only collecting dust. I use them single hooks from SG on stinger. Miss 2/3 of the weeds anyway. Good film again Dan. Look after yourself in lockdown and the rest of you guys reading this. I used to use those under spins for bass growing up in Florida, now I use them for pike and perch over here in Germany with pretty good success

Hi enjoyed the boat video, and great pike catches. Not sure if you were wearing a life jacket? Was very shocked to see u put your carbon rod over battery which charges electric motor which had no cover on. I enjoy all your videos.... just want to make u safe!
I was more worried about the bare aluminium of the landing net. The carbon rod is covered in epoxy, offering some insulation. Those bare terminals look like an accident waiting to happen.

A tip to have more control over your drift in the kayak is to go backwards with your electric engine, this way the front of your boat has less chance of getting stuck on the shoreline and the back of your boat is heading where you’re casting, this way of steering is way more direct. I don’t know if this is any good in the kayak, but in a boat this helped me out a ton. Good videos man keep it up!
Interesting with the single hook, I was always a bit skeptical of them for that reason, I’d never seen it happen until this video so yeah I won’t be using them really. Great video as always.

Caught a 25.2 lb and a 11 lb pike today using the same lure. Works like a charm over in West Yorkshire

great camera work - it can't be easy in a kayak! I brought the same savage net you use, and found it fine for pike up to low doubles, but the first big fish shredded its fins in the coarse mesh, so I have abandoned using it - have you had any similar experiences?

Have a look at the shimano 200 and 300 tranx series depending on how much line you want to hold and the length and size of your rod to get a good balance Niether of these have a clicking drag if you want a clicking drag have a look at the okuma KDS 364 ,all these reels are good solid strong reels made for sea fishing with stainless steel bearings and strong body composition, hope this helps ps I have the tranx and the kds so I have first hand experience of these reels .
