    For the catch can, run the open end back into your intake (same place as the original). It should be a closed system just like OEM. The can is simply designed to reduce entrainment of oil and water vapor into the intake side. Some of the entry level cans are just empty. I fill it with a stainless steel pan scrubbing pad (all of $1 or so) to create "packing" for the oil vapor to hit and precipitate out in the can. You want a tortuous path so that the vapor is forced to drop out in the can (PCV vent side entering near bottom of can; intake side at top). Routing the can back to the intake improves the efficiency, as it pulls vacuum except except when at WOT. Don't forget to check and drain the can frequently, or you will dump oil and water into the intake (not good).

    I always put catch cans inline. Valve cover --------- Catch Can -------------Intake manifold. That way you maintain crankcase pressure and you dont get the blow by smell in the cabin when you vent to atmosphere.

    I feel weird leaving this comment because its very keyboard warrior, but just some food for thought. When installing a strut bar I believe the car needs to be jacked up from one central point, like the center of the front sub frame. This way the chassis is kinda flexing down on either side so when it's lowered there is tension on the strut bar making it more effective at joining both sides of the car. Sorry for nitpicking, as you know what you are doing when working on cars, just thought i'd add that as its the only way I've ever felt a difference from a front strut bar.

    The idea of the catchcan is to filter the air before is goes into the intake just like the paper air filter on the main intake, so yes the intake can be piped to the catch can. Just make sure you attach to the correct side of the can. I see to many glanza owners piping up the catchcans wrong and it does my head in lol.

    I have a feeling you’re right by that, a lot of oil air separators are routed the same way

  • @WyGuyyy
    @WyGuyyy 4 роки тому +1

    Yea that other part of the catch can goes to the intake manifold, the whole point of a catch can is to keep sending crankcase vapors back to the intake to get burned and "catch" any oil that may get sucked through the PCV system.

    i routed my catch can lines back into the intake manifold. couldn't really notice a difference. i mounted the cooler in the same spot too. the oil cooler has to be relocated to use the bracket they give you. it's a good catch can, gonna buy another one soon as mine was cracked.

    Great video, just thought I would add my input on the catch can , its position in this video is way to low in the engine bay, this is from my own experience of doing the same thing. Mount it so the feed from the rocker cover is below the connection to the catch can , then vent the can back to the intake and it will be breathing only fumes, check your factory crankcase ventilation system too, make sure its able to breath properly . All this advice is meant in the friendliest possible way, keep on enjoying the 86👍

    Yeah the port on the intake manifold should go back to the catch can. That will help pull extra oil out of the head, but it will stay in the can instead of combusting. And it will also prevent the can from puking all over everything if there's too much oil or pressure in it.

    • @reneneron2971
      @reneneron2971 4 роки тому

      Tanner they may, but the catch can has to vent to atmosphere or, better yet, to the intake manifold. Again, both valve covers are open to each other already, which is why Toyota only had one vent from the factory. Adding another vent line won’t hurt anything, but can’t see how it helps anything either provided that the one vent line is sufficiently sized to prevent building pressure under the valve covers. Removing the oil cap while the engine is running will confirm if any pressure is present.
