  • I LOVE coffee. All of it: pour-over, drip, espresso, holiday lattes, all of it. So when German brand Tchibo (one of Europe's top coffee shops) asked if I wanted to try their coffee and new machine, called "The Tchibo," which grinds and brews your coffee, I said, "YA"!
They are finally bringing their delicious coffee and maker to America which should make you as excited as I was and here's why:
    1) No pods, no waste. The machine grinds its own beans and then produces a "puck" after each cup and you simply empty the dispenser tray after a few cups. Love that.
    2) You can use ANY beans. You don't have to order specific pods like Nespresso or Kureig. That keeps costs down and your options open to try different beans.
    3) You can adjust the grind setting to make a coarse or fine grind of the beans which really adds some nice control.
    4) The slim design fits well on any countertop and looks great.
    5) It has an option to pre-warm your cup with a little hot water and that's been a surprisingly useful feature as our apt always seems to be cold!!

Just got my Tchibo machine and am figuring out how to "double boost" the amount of coffee. We like our coffee very strong and even with the boost, it's a bit weak for our taste. Process that I think works well is to brew a boost 6 oz and then add an espresso shot. Richer, deeper coffee. We use an Italian roasted Sumatran bean currently.

@@bhaz I have to admit, the Tchibo Coffee Machine has produced some very tasty coffee, at a price point that really cannot be beat. I am by no means a a professional coffee aficionado, just a regular guy who enjoys a great cup of joe!
That said, after using the the machine a couple of times per day over the weekend, here are a few observations I made that are worthy to consider. I do agree with you that the location of the water tank is not ideal for refilling and having to pull it out from under a cabinet is somewhat annoying. The only other issue that I would add to the downside list for the machine is the lack of a bypass door .
While I am the only coffee drinker in the my household, we do have guests and family that have different coffee tastes / needs (i.e. caffeine restrictions). Having another machine on standby for those situations isn't exactly ideal.
If you can get past this, I will say that the coffee this machine produces really is great.

  • @Uninfluenceable
    @Uninfluenceable 3 роки тому

my $1500 Saeco crapped out last week, I really don't wanna spend another 2 grand on a coffee machine again, so I was quite surprised when this showed up in my IG feed, gonna give it a try just because it's so much cheaper than the other Euro espresso machine. I mainly used it to make drip style coffee anyways, so even if it doesn't make great espresso, as long as it make decent american style coffee I'm OK with it. Also, I remember the Tchibo brand when I lived in Germany as a kid in the 90's, so there's the nostalgia angle to this as well I suppose.

Good question! I actually leave in the middle--I'd say for espresso if you wanted to adjust it to a smaller grind that's probably best. Hey and thanks for checking in! I'd say it's not a TRUE espresso. If you used espresso beans and adjusted the grind setting to fine, I think you'd be close but there is no substitute for pure, true espresso. That said, I think it comes pretty close!
I have not had any issues with mine at all. I've cleaned it about once a month and did the descaling when it prompted me with the little icon but that's all.
      Good luck!

@@lisagalamb8707 I bought one of these machines about 6 weeks ago and have been very happy with it. We make between 4-7 cups per day with this machine and have had zero issues so far. Like any grind-to-brew you will need to follow the maintenance instructions pretty closely to keep it in shape. I'd recommend it if you're on the fence.

Yes 100% but I heard it's out of stock so make sure it's not! I will say you'll need to clean it more regularly and indepth than a K-cup machine or Nespresso but it's worth it and keeps coffee cheap!

    * Review of Tchibo beans* we just bought beans from tchibo and i don’t really like the taste it… it’s end of the November and they roasted it in July soo it’s really fresh (if you’re a coffee guy you know that the beans have the best quality from 2 to 4 weeks from the day when it was roasted ).. we have tried 3 types of coffee(in EU barista cafè crema (best of them)crema intense and African blue (which one is processed wet, worst one) … BUT if you want to drink the best one you should buy it from local rosters I’m really recommending it
By the way good content 👆

Oh thanks! Yeah I agree that local beans is best! One of the things I love about this machine is the ability to switch up the beans when you want so local, Tchibo, etc.

Anyway, is 8oz the largest cup size?
    and..
What type grinder? Any chance it's a cone burr? IDK if we're so snobbish that we'd notice the difference, but we do have a cone burr grinder now.

I've searched everywhere to determine whether this machine uses a blade or burr grinder. Nobody says, not even Tchibo! If it's burr, I'm interested. A blade grinder is worthless to me.

Thanks for checking in! I had the same question and couldn't find it so if you do, let me know! That said, it sounds like it's really grinding it like my Hario Skerton but clearly much faster. So MAYBE...it's a grinder?

@@bhaz -- Hi, I have good news and bad news, at least for me. The grinder uses metal burrs, which is good news. Bad news: the water is heated to 190°F, rather than the ideal range of 195° to 205°F. BUNN home brewers heat the water to 200°F, and I'm currently using the SCA-certified BUNN Heat 'N" Brew. I'm a fan of Tchibo coffees, so I was initially excited about the Tchibo machine.

Having lived in Germany, I can attest that built-in grinders are pretty much universal in Europe for any non-pod/pad machine.

Great sales pitch…. I might buy “anything” from this sweet guy. BUT…. I think I hate this coffee maker. I shouldn’t actually say hate, because I really enjoyed the frothy, creamy coffee (Starbucks brand) that it finally served me. So 1st off, as he mentioned, it weighs too much.. which makes it difficult to move when adding water, cleaning it, or your countertops. 2nd.. hopefully no one is trying to sleep-in anywhere near this thing. It is extremely loud, which no one wants to hear on a beautiful relaxing morning. 3rd.. when I opened the side panel to clean out the coffee bean remains, it was a total mess. Clumps of “old” coffee were everywhere, stuck to every part of the mechanism, and when I pulled out the tray, there was no neat compact “pod” anywhere to be found. This thing definitely needs to be cleaned everyday. I did not purchase this coffee maker, and I really don’t think you should either… it was part of an audience gift from a talk show. I can’t believe this company is a personal favorite in Europe and that they have been in business for 70 yrs, he said? I’m sure they must have better coffee makers than this one, or specialize in only their coffee or something else. Well, in my opinion, this thing is definitely a miss, not a hit… sorry 🤷‍♀️
