As a welder, I do wish I was closer cuz we could whip up a functional shift arm AND reinforce some critical areas on that frame!

yes i was so frustraited watching that video with the fuel\air mixture or blocked jets causing it to run like a bag of shite and him using choke to try settle it out and spending more time looking at his gear shifts than om the road ahead . glad he made it out alive. look forward to next video with said faults rectified .

You need the full factory air box for it to run right, even removing the lid will make them run like shit because the engines are tuned for the absolute maximum performance any slight change to the intake or exhaust throws them out of whack.

Yeah in the UK they are called Suzuki bandits and they are super sensitive to anything I've owned one as a project built it and was never done fixing the thing I would never own another lol
Sounds like some clutch friction plates rattling like it rattles before they grab might be worn out, might want to check that crank bearing too.
Move the foot pegs and it isn't suppose to only run with the choke and if im not mistaken doesn't it need a radiator or is it air cooled?

I had a gsxr750 in a 05 raptor 660 chassis I never did get it to run right without the factory airbox you need a factory airbox or a set of FCR carbs
That things crazy!Does need a twist throttle and the carbs tuned and maybe a little extra frome bracing I'd like to see this quad again with more improvements.Glad you didn't die😄😁🤪😝🤑🤘

Are ATV tires even speed-rated? Regardless, any tire with deep checking like those can't be good for anything exceeding 5-mph. The grim reaper was drooling.

Hey joe, one thing to check is make sure those carbs are in sync. Thats one thimg about those early model katana's, if its off a little it will make that happen, as well as the jets may need messed with.

I’m looking for something fast and reliable. what do you think I should get ? I only have $3000 and I’m looking around the 400 ex type style. I just want your opinion on what quad you would get ? cause your super smart with these quads and stuff and I don’t know that much and stuff
Did you sync the carbs?
The choke shouldn't be used after it warms up so something is wrong. The choke should be off completely and I'd move the pegs before the next ride. And get a shifter setup some kind of way either a heel toe shifter like crusier bikes have or something to make it more manageable to ride.

I’d say the pod filters are the reason it’s breaking up. Definitely needs a re jet. Try running with no filter at all.
It will run worse without the filters it needs a airbox or jetted for the pods it’s taking on way to much air
@@lukecombs5242 pod filters are restricting the air, compared to the bulky stock box.
@@jamiebouchard9862 Pod filters give more air than stock airbox, it runs way to lean, put it on and it will run right!
that scraping noise is definitely the chain because like you said it does get lose when you sit on it
Being theres no actual airbox its way lean have to jet up or make a air box for it and get rid of those individual filters imo. Awsome vids keep it up .

I have a katana 750. Same engine as this. I am having issues with it having an extremely high idle. It idles at 6000 and I have played with the carbs and adjusted the idle screw as per instructions. If anyone has any ideas I’m all ears
No where near 100hp. A new Kat 600 was 85 -86hp at the crank, closer to 65 at the rear wheel. You are turning 2 rear wheels. Top speed was also 128. I owned 1 for 13 years and know a lot about those bikes. You also will never get the full potential without the factory airbox, pods run like crap on those cv carbs.
And this one's probably puking out around 30hp as it is lol

I figured out the only place to ride this safely is somewhere with sand dunes. Joe, you are getting smarter to figure its lean and needs jetting. Check the chain alignment front sprocket to rear, it might be pinching the chain and causing the crunching noise. Its nice to see Chuck again, he looks like he's a wrestler for his school, gain some muscle
The terrified look of approaching death as you inched the bike half an inch was priceless!!!!!!! Okay it works get me off this thing!! Let's go dude, gusset that frame up and you should be okay. The shifter need flipped over/ cut and re welded, You need to be able to shift it easy, with everything going on on that thing.
That thing is a monster!

Carbs need a good cleaning , tunned and synched. A larger rear sprocket will also help with hearing

Definitely a interesting quad, 140mph is a bit optimistic though. Those motors make 79hp when they run good and in the bike they came in they did 125-130mph on a good day. Now if it was the liquid cooled gsxr motor you might have a better chance, but those gsx air/oil cooled motors just had a lot less power. Either way it’s always cool to see people’s creations and how they run for sure👍

That thing sounds quick. But i'd be tempted to do some basic stuff like changing all spark plugs. And defo get a chain tensioner. That would help the chain.

Hey 2vintage im a uncoming 400ex builder and was wondering if you have any spair parts for a 1999 400ex was originally my dads but he was in a wreck and hasn't rod since i wanna fix it up for him for a surprise but im 16 and unemployed please lmk if you have anything list of needed items below
Oil tank, gas tank, breaks all around, rear hubs, left inner case, steering collom bearing, key switch, airbox, and carburetor and side and gas tank plastics.
Anything would help that you for your time

I had the same bike and put those filters on the carbs like that. You need to jet the carbs or hot glue half the filter closed . Sounds stupid but it worked great on stock jets
