- We bought the legendary 350 twin cylinder 2 stroke quad AKA the Yamaha Banshee for $500 Insta360 One X2 link for $15 off and free accessory - store.insta360...
The quad isn't in great shape as you could imagine for $500 but we have faith we can get it running and driving in no time. The Banshee 350 is the bike of choice for the bikelife movement and we couldn’t be more excited to rebuild the bike a learn how to properly wheelie and send it!

Finding a $500 running Banshee is like saying "I found $3000 sitting on the ground today. That's nice."
I haven’t seen a banshee for under 5k in my area, I’m wondering where they found this. Wish I could get this lucky, I’m looking for a quad and can’t find anything for a decent price

The prices will go down in the future. Guaranteed. As soon as the hype goes down. Watch😁 plus depends where your at in the country. Where I'm at, nice clean banshees go for about 3 or 4k. Sometimes find one for 2500 if your lucky, fixer uppers 700$ to ..1500$ on the high if there gouging for a clapped out one that barly runs. Then again people will rip you off at any price..all that said I've seen people luck out and get a nice barn find for 500 to 1500$..ya never know.

Banshees are so much fun. They're just a bit narrow and short wheel based for the power. I remember seeing a single carb intake for those back in the late 90's that could be made in a few hours(in case you're wondering why one carb would be better than two, aside from the adjustment issues, the principle is a single 2 inch pipe can flow more than two 1 inch pipes). I did get to ride one with a 500 kit on it. Almost too much fun. Almost.

I'll tell you the same thing I told CarsAndCameras. You need to put a couple 'trail cams' like hunters use around your property set up to activate when motion is detected, record for 10 or 15 seconds, and shut back down. I think you'll catch some interesting clips of jumps and fast passes and things like that it you put them in good places, and wont have to plan ahead to have someone already be standing there with a camera or drone or the 360cam etc.

Banshees were such a dream of mine growing up dirtbiking. I like to imagine how fun of a road vehicle they would be too with road tires and suspension setup. Acceleration of a motorcycle plus the stability of 4 wheels and being able to turn and brake hard. The ultimate vehicle on pavement. It's too bad they don't allow them when they allow motorcycles and those silly 3 wheel vehicles.
In Germany banshees are on road legally after you put some flash light and stuff like that on it.
In Portugal they are all legal and crazy fast on road. Here they are 10k on the market

They are fun but had a weird powerband, not much torque and always side pulled, you can kind of see it in vid. ATC 250r would take them until you ran out of gears. That said my buddy road ran his a lot and kept messing with gearing until he got it up to 115 mph. In the end it's a twin two stroke and you have to pay for the power with constant rebuilds so personally I would take a 450r atc today. I would like to see them race the two.
@@69jbr69 Well yeah obviously a 4 stroke would be better for long term on the roads but still. Road banshee would be really fun. There would be nothing that could touch it in a city environment with low traffic. On the big open roads yeah a more powerful vehicle with more weight would be better but in small twisty suburb areas with lots of turns, it would just absolutely dominate. I forget what that 4 stroke competitor to the banshee is but I'm sure that would be awesome too. Just sacrifice a little bit of weight for wider power band better mileage less rebuilds.
Banshees still fetch good money in New Zealand. I bored mine out to 380 awesome to hear one again
To everyone wondering where they found a $500 banshee. They live in Northern Idaho. I live in Utah and the market is similar. Out here in the west machines like that just aren't as desirable as they are in other places. I'm not saying every thing out here is cheap but if you look consistently you can find two to three screaming deals a month and if you're quick you can score them. I personally have gotten a $500 ATC 350X, a $100 Honda fourtrax 300 4x4 with title, and a $1000 turboed snowmobile with 1500 miles. *All machines ran when I bought them*

Banshee owner here. Nah they really weren't they are extremely primitive machines even for when they were released. This engine was originally on the Yamaha RD350 but that one had a powervalve. The banshee didn't which gave it the crazy two stroke powerband that we all love.
It was just an air-cooled 2 stroke street bike motor with the powervalve jerked off and stuck onto a four wheeler with the most basic suspension humanly possible for the time. Extremely fun mind you but even when it was built it was out of date they didn't even use the powervalve. Lol
Gotta love two strokes though emissions killed em but my God are they fun! Incredibly simple I can rebuild a banshee motor faster than I can rework the head on my yz450f

The Banshee is technically a "swap" from the factory. The EPA did away with 2-stroke street bikes (new models) in 1985. So Yamaha modified their RZ350 street bike engine design for use in a new quad....

The body is all there and in pretty good shape and looks to be in way too good of shape for the deal quads that are usually out there. $500 for any Banshee is a steal regardless of condition and anyone who would be willing to sell one in that condition for that cheap is shady as fuck.
@@earlgunman6325 I paid 400 for my old 400ex it was clean A.F. with title and ran like new. Had it for many years. Sometimes people just do want stuff anymore. Just because its cheap doesn't make it shady. My guess would be it wasn't running right ND the previous owner didn't know how to fix it. And didn't want to pay to have it fixed. And prices are different all across the country. Maybe quads are cheaper in there area because they have snow 60% of the year.

Try to find some fmf Fatty's for it. Toomey's are high rev. Fatty's are mid rev. Makes it a totally different machine. Toomey makes more hp but Fatty's are way more ridable and you actually have usable torque and smooth transitions thru the power and. Love these machines.

I miss my 95 banshee. It was the ugly purple and yellow...It was a sleeper. Had a Vito's built motor (when they use to build motors) bored out triple exhaust port, toomey t5 pipes and mufflers, boysen reeds, 50/50 mix of 110/93 octane gas with klotz super techniplate oil mixed at 40:1, good ATF fluid in the trans. Bought that for $2600. The kid I got it from was afraid of it after it was built. He got it as a grad gift brand new in 1995 and dropped off at Vitos and had it built right away. No other quads could touch me. That was right when the 660 raptors and yzf 450 and honda 450 were coming out. I met my match when a buddy picked up a 6 mil stroked triple exhaust port running on alcohol w/ cut gears 8" extended swing arm w/ Marvin Shaw shocks (they were niice). We used to take that down to Detroit and Drag race for $$ down on French rd against everything in the 1/8th mile. We bought another banshee with a GSXR600 motor in it with the winnings. Had fun back in the day... lol. everyone that had one will tell you to keep the Banshee. I sure wish I still had mine, SAVE THE 2 STROKES!!!! fyi dont hold the clutch in and rev it alot, it can weld the shift shaft and ball together and you loose functionality of the clutch. they mad a ceramic ball for that. whew that became a loong comment

I didn't find a banshee but i found a 2008 KX450 dirt bike in mint condition sitting behind my neighbors house for $500 back in 2017.
