It's so nice to see little girls in such a nice positive hair community (You and your cousin). It's nice to see other girls embracing their natural hair and little ones watching and catching on so that when they get older they will be confident about their own hair also.
April you're amazing, each one reach one! Your cousin's hair look so nice and healthy. I love that she's confident and comfortable with her natural hair, I'm ecstatic to see her hair one year from now, I bet it'll be even more amazing.

So funny/interesting her reaction. It's so genuine, that shock and that wanting to love it, but not quite loving it, but you know you WILL love it as you watch it grow from there. She's NOT alone in that feeling. I transitioned for only 5 months. I didn't like taking care of two textures and watching the breakage occur more and more and I was excited to see what my own hair looked like. And I sure did think my hair was longer than it actually was at that point in time. And I had a similar reaction to my big chop. Now I'm about 20/21 months natural and I love taking care of it, love the versatility, love not having to worry about the humidity and the rain, love trying new natural recipes and seeing what works. And most of all LOVE that my hair has grown! So that reaction of shock that your cousin experienced, wanting to love it, but not quite there yet... It would be great to see an update in a couple months. Her hair is beautiful and I bet there's a gorgeous curl pattern waiting to pop!

I was ready for my big chop. I transitioned for 7 months and I've been completely natural for 3 years. Ashley remember that less is more. I've learned that you don't have to become a product junkie for your hair to thrive. Your hair is absolutely beautiful and I hope you enjoy your journey!
I love it you own it and wants you do your first style, whatever it maybe, you want even worry about length. It will grow faster then you probably expect. Happy journey!!!

protein treatments will help with the frumpy patch in the front! I had that same issue when I big chopped. Aphogee has a great protein treatment line. Love the new vlog channel too!❤

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!! welcome back to natural sista...You're better than me...I wanted to transition and I did for all of about 2-3 months then I got the itch lol...My hair was so freakin short but your hair is soooo thick and looks so healthy...I see the real you and it is beautiful...Embrace it, love it and remember hair grows...b4 you know it ur hair will be back 2 the length it was and beyond...God bless :-)

I felt the same when I big chopped after transitioning for a year. But I love it and your hair will grow faster by being so healthy. I love your curl pattern.
I just big chopped last september and all my life i had long hair. It was a big thing to get used to but my hair grew faster than i thought and i love being hair. just love your hair and take the patience to learn what works for it. This is learning time for you and your hair. I transitioned for one and a half years.

Doing the big chop was just too drastic for me. My stylist just clipped the relaxed hair each month as we went along. We did this for about 15 months. I handled that much better. Keep us updated on her hair journey! Great video!!!

I love it. I had a flashback to when I did my big chop. My friend upstairs in my dorm was a barber and he soooo wanted to shape my hair up, but I was sooo focused on the length. Looking back I wish I let him shape it up into a style. So my word of advice @April Bee have her go to a barber to get a shaped style!
I big chopped October 11, 2011. I was a little nervous ,but my husband was more nervous than I was. My hair grew so fast after my big chop. Embracing my natural hair was the best decision ever. ☺
Ashley looks great. My advice is to be patient and have fun playing with your new hair.

I was shocked at first when I did my big chop. Now I love it. Actually today is my 2 yr anniversary of my big chop. We won't discuss why my hair still isn't puff length but OK lololol

You have a nice amount of hair congrats on the journey to being natural sister anyway my suggestion is to try doing a braid out and make some flaxseed gel it should help with the definition see if that work good luck and congratulations 👍 April Bee

My reaction was the same as your cousins...anxious to do it but shocked when I saw it. Now that its longer and I can style it more, I'm in ♥. It will grow and when those curls finally pop🎆 your going to be feeling yourself like Beyonce...lol. Good luck.

I big chopped almost a year ago. I had her length when I did. I felt renewed and free in a sense but a little hesitant. My hair has grown a lot and I'm loving my kinky coils.:)
