My mom has been putting perms in my hair since I was little and I'm now in college and I'm tired of my relaxed hair. I can't even remember how my natural hair looked and how it felt like before my mom changed my hair. Your video is very helpful and give me the confidence to start my journey to transition my hair back to its natural state. My mom is gonna hate it and say that my hair looks a mess and that it looks "nappy" but I know that I'll be happier with my natural hair.

I'm 14 and got a perm when I was going into the 7th grade I cried when I got a perm because I was basically forced I love my natural hair so I started getting new growth in the middle of my 7th grade year. at the ending of the year I cut three inches off my first time in transitioning. i do small chops every three months and I'm at the ending of my transitioning and my hair is 10 inches long now I recommend when your transitioning to not use heat and try to keep ur hair in a protective style and to keep your hair mouisturized I love being natural and I will NEVER NEVER get my hair relaxed ever again don't listen to people telling u to get ur hair permed I'm telling u it's not worth it n the long run .💯

The negative comment part was NOT A LIE!!! When I was transitioning (this was my 4th month going on 5), so many people at school, even my mom too, was talking about my hair and new growth. Kept telling me to get a perm and everything. It was so bad it drove me to finally get a perm. It's been a month since the relaxer now and I regret getting it. This would have been month 6!!!! Ugh.

If you're using wigs or sew ins I recommend curly wigs. Kinky curly and do twist outs because you don't have to use heat for that and it looks natural and you never have to wear your natural hair until you're fully ready which is my plan.

But I can already see how my hair grows, parts have already been growing out and I can run my fingers through it without having a hand full of hair. Thank you so much for making this video. Around this time last year I told my mom that I wanted to go natural but she didn't think it was best for me because I've been struggling with alopecia areata for about 7 years now. After years of perms and protective styles my hair has almost fully grown back now, but I still have some bald patches. So my mom told me to wait and that I could do what I want with my hair when I turn 18. But I turned 18 almost 5 months ago and was too afraid to go natural. You've inspired me to finally make the decision to transition so that my hair can grow healthfully and beautifully. Thank you again ❤️

This is the most motivational video I have seen yet! Especially, because I'm ready to go natural, but a little nervous about letting go of my extensions. I'm past the point of returning to the 'creamy crack' lol! It's taken a few years to get my hair back to healthy, also it's an emotional journey feeling truly beautiful with our natural hair. But, you own it, and this video has motivated me to do the same! Thank you so much for your inspiration! 👍🏾👌🏽👍🏾😀😃

I decided to wear wigs that are cute, stylish and similar to my own hair. I work in a professional setting so I didn't want to buy a wig too outrageous. That last tip is the TRUTH!!! I was fortunate enough to have a really supportive husband who actually helped me with my BC by using his clippers to cut me down to .25 an inch of hair on new years 2014. If there were such a thing as type 5 category hair, I think a pic of my hair could've been in the textbook, lol! I sure did get a lot of puzzled looks from family on both sides, but I didn't care. With a lot of TLC and MOISTURE, its already back down past my shoulders..

Thank u for these tips. I did the big chop twice. First time because my hair (which was relaxed and color) started breaking real bad. Chopped and started wearing a wig. Hair grew back long and strong and I went back to relaxed and color and it broke again. Did big chop again and went Natural. Only color. (Completely gray. Not ready for that) been natural for going on 3 years and I love it. Hair is strong. Didn't know about u until today. Jane Mason helped me through my transition via of utube. I have to agree with you. Braid out is my favorite and I did receive negative feedback during my transition. Thank u for validating this process. Please keep up the good work. We as sisters always need to reassure each with positive feedback.

I'm currently transitioning and I'm 5 months post perm. My go to style is bantu knots. I love the way my hair looks once I do the twist out. I've looked at other videos on other styles but I just DON'T have hands for hair. Ur hair is lovely!

Transitioning since January 2017! My hair has never felt healthier! Wonderful tips...especially for a new, inexperienced person as myself!!! Love the video!!!

Thank you, your hair is beautiful. My hair is currently relaxed, but I am wearing cornrows at the moment. I was thinking about possibly going "natural" when I take down these braids, but I didn't want to do the big chop. I hope you have some more videos to check out!

Just found your videos. Starting my natural journey. Definitely don’t want to big chop so I’m transitioning. What products do you recommend for keep your hair moisturized? Love your videos!

Omg your hair is giving my life! I am currently 9 months post and I actually chopped all the perm in the nape area not enough to notice but just so I could see if I had a pattern at all.. it's a constant struggle to keep from cutting but I plan to wait until after February which will put me at 14 months post before I chop it. it's hard with the two textures and having to use different products for each texture..

I love this video I big chopped because I tried to transition 2x and ended up relaxing so I knew that was the only way for me and it was extremely hard and still is I have no idea what Styles to do because I'm in that awkward stage I wear wigs to protecte my hair and I have seen much growth in the last year I can't wait until I reach your length it gives me hope but I do love my natural hair and it so healthy ....

I'm 16 and thinking about transitioning.. think I will but seriously wonder what my natural hair looks like. my aunt has natural hair and I've never seen anyone else with her type, they're the perfect replica of a sheeps wool
