I went went with the S7 MaxV Plus, not a bad price and cleaning/replacing the mop myself (doesn't justify the extra £600 at this time to have it auto cleaned etc)
I think I’m going to do the same thing, it does feel hard to justify $600 to empty tanks, refill water and clean pads. It’s so cool though, it almost seems worth it to go weeks barely touching the robot
Purchased the MaxV and it's terrible at long human hair on carpet due to all rubber brush, going to try the Q5 bristle brush as that's meant to work better for hair with the S7
I have a T10, S7+ and S7 MaxV Ultra and kept: The best result is using the Ultra for vaccum & pre-mob, then using the T10 for main mob. The Ultra alone could not do the mobbing job by itself.
Thanks for the in depth review! I am really looking forward to snatching one up for myself but am a little bit concerned with the water tanks. You said they're large enough to not have to worry about them for a month or two. Is that true for the dirty water tank too? How long have you used the mopping feature for and if it's been more than a few weeks, are you noticing any bad smells coming from the water tank?
During testing I actually used it at 4-5 different houses so it didn't stay long enough in one location to start to smell. Guides on timeframes always depend a lot on your house and how you use it - you can adjust how thorough it is on mop washing, how frequently it washes whilst cleaning, and then it really depends on how much hard-floor area your house has. If you have 300m² of hard-floor, expect it to need refilling/emptying pretty regularly, but if you didn't have it at all, you would need multiple robots to clean that area. On this I just used the numbers that Roborock mention and deliberately kept the range broad.
About houses with 2 floors, how does that work? You keep the base on 1 floor and when you want to do the other floor you pick the vacuum and put it on the upper floor? At the end he finishes the job and stops so estou can pick him or he will stay trying to go to base… what is the drill?
You’re right, you pick him up and carry him up the stairs. If he doesn’t start from the base, he won’t try to find it - it will just stop where it starts
Good question and good advice. With my robot (Ecovacs T8 AIVI+) the poor thing _must_ have a base station on every floor that it vacuums. Otherwise, it’ll start a new map, lose the old one (and your “no go” zones) and you’re at risk of losing your map entirely if you’re not carful (their software is buggy and unintuitive). Learned that the hard way. Had it only 1yr and already searching for alternatives.
Great video. I have one question for anyone to respond to. I have all Harwood floors and a dog that sheds all year round. I thought the Bristol roller would be worse for pet hair because it gets caught in the Bristols. I thought the rubber roller would be much better. Let me know if I'm wrong and what you recommend.
Thanks for detailed reviews, but sometimes more the details, more the confusion :) Which one will you recommend iRoomba S9 or Roborock S7 MaxV ULTRA? I know Robotock is hybrid, but just based on vacuum functionality?
Hi Nitin, at a really high level... the navigation is more advanced on the S7 MaxV and it has the mop and all the functionality. The vacuuming performance on the S9 is still better, particularly if you have pet hair on deep pile carpet. However, if you don't have pet hair or any particular requirements, the S7 MaxV will be more than sufficient. On hard-floors, the vacuuming performance is identical and the mop definitely gives the S7 MaxV the edge. Like all things, it's somewhat subjective but I hope this helps :)
