Thanks for this complete and honest review. I've had mine for a month now and am very happy with it. It mapped both floors of our house in minutes and the navigation is very extract. It has saved me hours of work and it will quickly pay for itself when you compare the cost of a person coming to your home once a week, vacuuming every surface of your house (including under beds), and washing the large amount of wooden floors. Like you, I was skeptical about the video camera. Even though I'm an old guy, my 12 year-old mind loves it.
Thanks so much for this honest and pragmatic review. I like that you focused on some key points that other reviewers didn't hit, as well as what the day-to-day life is like with the MaxV ultra. Appreciate your time and effort.
Thanks so much for your review. Honest, interesting and detailed. The presentation answered a lot of my questions and it was easy to understand. Love your accent too.
Thank you for honest review although I'm not sure why people panicking about Roomba ...I have it from Costco the most advanced model that I could get there and I can't really complain a lot! People who were reviewing it would tell u it bounces against furnitures or other obstacles that's not necessarily true ...only very first time , upon first maps drawing it has tendency to do so . after while it's getting better and better and approaching more subtle way! Their software is getting better also I have safety zones areas that I can set and overall I'm very pleased with the Roomba as well...
Thank you for your honest opinion. In December, I bought the iRobot Roomba s9+ (9550) Robot Vacuum & Braava Jet m6 (6112) Robot Mop Bundle and they were a complete NIGHTMARE. After spending several evenings trying to map the house, I honestly gave up. I returned them both without any hesitation. This machine looks like a really “smart” robot. I will probably wait until the new one comes out. Hopefully by then, the price of this one goes down a bit or maybe I will bet the New Roborock.
I bought the Braava Jet M6 lasts year and I also found the mapping a nightmare. I used a Roborock S6 for vacuuming, and the mapping was easy and excellent. A few weeks ago, I decided to move on and bought the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra. It mapped both floors of our house in minutes and is incredibly accurate.
I think the next update will be attachment to hook it up to your water supply and drainage. It will truly be an automated robot. Which is what they did recently for the Chinese version. They also came out with a dryer attachment. Would dry your mop after washing.
To avoid the lines you should clean the mop more often. We have no lines on our high glossy tiles. It cleans the mop every 10 minutes and run every two days.
using roombas for 12 years now. Even the old one always found its dock before the battery went dead. They were noisy indeed but when you let them run during working hours that hardly seems a problem. The roombas with camera indeed need ligtht. The cheaper i3 does not needs light and still does the job. Not meant as a roomba commercial but a bit balance would be nice. The Roborock S7 ( the newer S8 has the roomba counter turning brushes so cleans way better it seems. They copied that part to improve cleaning) Yes the S7 ultra can clean its own and only water and dustbin needs manual work. But a roomba combo does both jobs better but combined the roborock is the master. But YMMV as always ;)
The cat barf story had me in stitches. I have the Roborock S5, which was just the VAC. Its awesome and vacuumed my house for 4 years issue free. I pulled the trigger on the S7 MaxV Ultra after my experience with the S5 and your honest review. Thanks for sharing your experience.
I got a downside for you. If you have Subwoofers with large magnets, they temporarily kill the S7 Max V Robot vacuums. At least I'm pretty sure the magnet is the cause. Anyway, every time my vacuum goes right in front of one of the Subwoofers, it shouts, "Dust bin not found." If I push it about 6 inches away, it magically fixes itself and says, "Dust bin installed." Push it back in front, and you get the Dust bin not found message again. It's obvious to me, but I think they need better shielding. I have sent a support message to Roborock but haven't heard back from them yet. Good luck to you guys with Subwoofers. Just so you know. My tower speakers don't cause a problem. I believe that is because the actual speaker is 8 to 10 inches above the bottom of the speaker cabinet.
Well done! Agree with all your main points. Point and go great feature. I see comments zone is better but not always true. I think you experienced a bug and I would email their support explaining how you would reproduce. I use new feature Routines. Has a bug if you have 2 or more maps. Does not load map before routine so a use case occurs where it finished on map 1 and routine needs map 2....error positioning failure. Work around is to use Schedules....a feature that has all bugs ironed out. I mention this because you touched on a key reason to buy.... ability for Roborock to improve. So true but we as users who paid big money must inform RR how to reproduce a bug and highlight importance. Let's see if this outfit can evolve. I call mine Phoebe from Friends... very lovely but a bit dipsy sometimes.
Don't use pin and go. The robot has two modes I would say. From what I discovered there is cleaning mode able to make modifications to the map, and then there is travel mode where it goes from a point to another only navigating based on its previous saved map. That the reason, why it cannot go to the target. Best practice is to set up zone cleaning, and the robot will go where an obstacle was before and modify the map back. ;)
Great content, super useful, i would say that one of the best reviews about this model. There is a new model, cheaper and with less functionality, i’ll wait for your review before hitting the buy now button.
We have a German shepherd running around, so we want the best robot to clean the house every night, including a mopping feature. In the Roborock lineup I bought them all. Starting with the first simple robot vacuum cleaner, to the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra. ALL OF THEM had issues, causing me to dump them one by one. From laser issues, causing the Roborock to stop working, to a non functional auto empty station (with the MaxV Ultra). I always upgraded to the next Roborock, based upon positive reviews like this, hoping that the next model would run without issues. It didn’t. Warranty is always an issue, since the robots are delivered through Amazon, mostly imported from far away. I start to hate Roborock. Think twice or more often.
Just bought the S7 Max V without any dock, got it for €666, the plus dock is €269 and €700 for the Ultra, its 1400 otherwise for the robot and ultra. I'm saving getting it separately. So far I'm pro voice commands, alexa specifically. It's not excellent, it struggles at time. Plus it annoys me that it pre saves whatever cleaning option you've picked previously. Ie....if I mop the house via the app at night, the following day if I want to clean a bit of dust in a living room.....it will go there but it picks the mopping function as its used previously. I wish you could set a default setting that it will always revert back to "vacuuming" for example. So, that I don't need to open the app and change what cleaning its to do. The pin and go was a handy tip I didn't realise it cleaned ha
Agreed, We had the iRobot original one when they first came out, that thing was dumb as hell but we used it for a few years. When roborock came out (earlier versions), we gave it a test and loved it right away, smart navigation & quick finish. Never looked back on iRobot ever since, seems to me iRobot just can't ditch their wrong direction but kept going into the ditch with heavy marketing and discounts. Now we have one S7 for each floor before the MaxV came out, my only complaint is the S7 soft brush gets tangled easily on our thick carpet, eventually I removed the brush for good so it can just do preliminary job before I run it with the Dyson vaccum. Eventually we will upgrade to MaxV on the mainfloor because I'm sick and tired of changing mopping pads on every run. 😂
Hi, sorry if this has been answered already: can it store maps for multiple floors in your house? I have the Roborock S5 currently and if I take it upstairs to clean, it will lose the map for downstairs and will need to remap from scratch which is annoying
The S7 MaxV Ultra is supposedly better on hardwood floors while the S8 is supposedly better on carpeting. I've never seen lines on the floor when it mops.
You can vacuum only, you can mop only, and you can do both at the same time. The mop head will lift when it's vacuuming or moving over carpeting. I remove the mop head entirely and do all the vacuuming first. When that's done, I re-install the mop head and it only mops the wooden floors. It's just more efficient for me to do it that way, but you can do what works best for you.
Any idea if it bumps into walls or floor base boards? Or can it keep a short distance away. I have an old rumba that just randomly bumps into everything and over the years it ended up leaving black marks on my once nice white trim.
I glued two rubber stripes from Homedepot to the front of my Roomba 620. That fixed all possible damage issues. For its time that Roomba is extremely well thought out, rubust, easy to maintain and user-friendly.
One of the app features is "Reactive Obstacle Avoidance." When you select that, it will avoid wall edges, furniture legs, etc. and effectively won't bump into anything. If you turn that off (and I do this when it's mopping), it gets right up the edge of the wall. It doesn't bump against anything.
Hi, how does this go with something like paper cat litter? I mainly am looking at investing in one so it can pick up any litter that tracks around. I use paper litter which is quite large pellets and want to make sure it won’t just kick them out the side! Thanks
Not really since it does a thourough clean of the mop prior to resting... although if you dont manually wash or replace the pad as needed (every week or two), I would imagine it could develop a smell.
Since I do a complete mopping once a week, I just take the mop off (very simple to do) when I'm done, throw it in the washer, and let it air dry. The mop end of the robot faces out, is exposed to the air, and is slightly elevated. Many people find that the mop will dry perfectly well on its own. Other people have purchased the add-on dryer. It all depends on how you use it and how often you use it.
Unless you live in an enormous house that requires more than one tank of water, the clean water tank can last for several moppings. When it comes to the dirty water tank, you might want to empty it and rinse it out at the end of a mopping day. The standing dirty water will start to smell in no time.
Yours is a truly stellar example of what a UA-cam review CAN be - just stellar. Why do I say that? I'll tell you. First, it was comprehensive - it covered all the bases, pros AND cons. No warts or blemishes were whitewashed. Secondly, you're presentation is quite good, your explanations were easy to follow, and your use of the language is satisfyingly good, in a time when that's a scarce commodity, sadly. Reviews of the "dreame" machines I read on Amazon are not encouraging, ESPECIALLY regarding what passes for "customer service". I'm passing on that brand.
I bought one and on the first cleaning it clogged with my dog's hair. Now it keeps saying error 42 and the cleaning brush is stuck half way across the pad and won't move. What a pile of crap if you have an animal.
This robot has a major problem! The dust bin has no sensors inside to tell it when the bin is full. When the bin gets full it keeps going so it is worthless as a vacuum cleaner once full. I called Roborock Tech support and they told me that the robot will ONLY empty at the very end of the job.
Every review has been the same on these roborock vaccuum/mop. If you go in expecting perfection you will be let down, however if you go in expecting a pretty good robot v/m that will need some attention you will be fine. I ordered one let’s see how it goes. It’s all nice until they make a brand new one and your $1400 investment becomes e waste because they stop updating it. This can be seen with iRobot how they no longer push updates to older fully capable robots. I’m unsure what roborocks stance is but I’m sure they are just the same…
s5 still works perfectly 5 years later and they recently added new features to it so it's not like irobot aka amazon. Also just because it doesn't update software doesn't mean its unusable trash now, you don't need an update to keep using it, that's just ridiculous, keep using it and don't get but hurt over features not being added that you never paid for

I can attest to this statement as well. The S7+ is getting stuck all the time and it's becoming extremely difficult to complete a single run
They update the software with bad one so you buy a new one.
I've had nothing but trouble with my s9, it's vaccuum works amazing when it worked, but I spent more time fixing errors than anything else
