Poorly Researched! Ukraine is pretty much gotten away from the Mavik. they have a whole cottage industry that is building these drones, the FPV drones in their homes and businesses
These drones have made attack helicopters like apachi and Cobra almost redundant on the battlefield they're virtually carrying out the same task : , Give them more powerful bombs and they will have a huge advantage over the enemy ........
A vast country like Australia needs long -distance surveillance, which can most economically be delivered by drones. Boeing and the RAAF are working on them.
The USA drones are extremely expensive for the obvious reason of maximum profits. This has made them rarer than they should be for US ground forces. Therefore I think Ukraine has shown us that we need more than 20 million dollar drones which still have time lags between drone operators and the battlefield and this needs to be fixed. Preferably at the squad level. Even small surveillance drones are ten and twenty times the price tag Ukraine is using. This hurts the level of proficiency and speed up and down the services on the ground.
I read a book in the 70's, i can't remember the title now, 2024, about how wars would be fought in the future and it specifically predicted drones. unmanned aerial vehicles and cluster bombs.

For every drone Russia has used, Ukraine has used a thousand. Russia doesn't have the infrastructure to produce drones and is fully reliant on other countries producing the electronic components needed. Russia is losing badly and is not a legitimate threat anymore. The Russian economy has completely collapsed and Russia has a severe shortage of men between the ages of 18 to 50. Russia has lost over 8000 of its pre-war 10,000 tanks. Russia has suffered a confirmed 530,000+ combat deaths. It is impossible for Russia to win without using nuclear weapons.
The French utilized hot air balloons in the post-Napoleonic era as a means to gain a superior strategic view of battlefields, even going so far as to create the first official (but very short-lived) aerial unit in military history. That was the true beginning.
Same thing in America's civil war, but the true beginning is honestly just building a lookout post on a prominent hill. We've always looked for ways to view the enemy from afar.

More a case of restricted use. The Abrams is to heavy for the soft ground during spring and autumn, and Ukrainian bridging systems. Plus Ukraine didn't have enough of them to make it worth supporting them in the field, especially when they're so resource hungry. The Russian's put a bounty on the Abram',s which meant they attracted every Russian anti tank system in an area, which didn't help either. But they did prove very resistant to drone attacks
They did not. Ukraine still uses Abrams, but since there's only about 20 of them in service (31 gives, 8 lost) it's rare. The only other tank that's even more of a rare site is the British Challenger 2 (14 given. 1 lost).
Sounds like a nightmare for both sides. It is interesting to me that the title talked about what is a nightmare for the Russians, but then goes to say that the Ukraines are playing catch-up.
I'm calling BS. The 1st drones that were used in combat were modified B-17s. They took off piloted but once they were on their way, the pilot bailed out & a second B-17 that was the controller, followed it while they stayed way back. It was still too early for the tech as they weren't effective but they were used in combat.

Why don’t they design the Raybird as the UK did with their De Haviland Mosquito? The plane was invisible to radar and was the fastest of its time due to its construction being that of wood and a tarp-like material.
Actually the Mosquito was one of the fastest planes of the time...and probably the fastest light bomber of the day which was what itcwas originally designed for ..because initially it carried no armour or armament and hadc2 of the magnificent Rolls Royce Merlin engines which during a lot of the war were one of if not THE premier piston engines used in aviation. The Mosquito also had excellent sreodynamics.
