Thank you for setting me back on my way to God. I never stopped believing in God. But most other elements yes. It’s a hard journey but nothing was meant to be easy. Much love. Put God first. Yes. xxxxxxxxx
I love hearing your words. I'm 69 and it's hard to find a companion who believes in God and is a good person. Someone who is in drinking all the time or abusive or lazy or has no desire to do anything and definitely doesn't have money and wants the little you have or they think you want theirs. It's crazy out there for sure. I love watching you cook but I love your sharing your God our God with us all. Happy New Year. 🙏💗
Amen Mary, I’ve been a widow for 8 years. -I’ve finally decided if it’s in God’s will, he will send me a friend/companion. If not I’m perfectly fine enjoying my family and the friends I’ve had for years. I have no time for the drams, schemes and tall tales you run into.
"If you're not learning, you're not living." I like that! I am 50 years old this year and am just now learning how to cook, and YOU are my teacher! Thank you. I've been memorizing basic recipes and it feels so good to know how to make biscuits & gravy. Thank you.
Thank you. God bless you at 50. I'm 68. One lesson I've learned in life is that we are always learning no matter our age. Enjoy cooking. It is truly gratifying
I learn something new everyday, because a day that you don’t learn anything is a day of your life wasted. It’s not often big things, but always worth knowing.
I’m not sure if you see these messages, but I am so very happy I found your channel. I love how wholesome you are. Thank you for sharing with us. ❤ May God Bless You
Thank you. Discharged from hospital yesterday. Everything will be alright. Needed something for dinner. Fixing your creamy corn soup for dinner. Will have enough for a couple days and to share with my neighbor. Your bible readings and witness feeds the soul.
Mother would make a large pot of this often and sometimes with browned hamburger added. She always had biscuits, cornbread, or bread on the side. There were 11 children in the Family and every one loved it. Dad was a meat and potatoes man and He loved it.
When my oldest son (now 26) was in middle school, parents were asked to volunteer to make Colonial dishes to bring in for the class to taste as part of their History class. I made corn chowder and put it in a Crock Pot. I figured a bunch of middle school kids probably wouldn’t touch it. But surprise, the Crock Pot came home EMPTY! This recipe is almost the same as the one I used.
This looks so delicious! I just love this channel. You sound like my beloved relatives who live in Tennessee and I just love how down to earth you are and that you’re not afraid to talk about God.
I worked at Greenfield Village in a restaurant set in 1850, this is the corn chowder we used to serve. The next day is even better! The longer it cooks the better. Could make ahead and then traverser to crock pot on low to come home to the best corn chowder ever!
My hub is due home in the next few hours. We’re both 72 now…married 52 years. It’s pretty chilly here this morning in north/central California..so I made this soup. Took about 35 minutes to get all the ingredients chopped/sautéed, seasoned and simmering. Thawed a loaf of good sourdough bread. The house smells so nice. This is gonna be a nice surprise and make hub very happy. Thank you Becky. You’re a lifesaver! Blessings, Marilyn…
Corn Chowder is my favorite soup! And thank you for looking up the definition of chowders! I didn’t know, either! We like our Corn Chowder with a lot of bacon! I like it crisp so we never put in the soup until we are ready to eat it. Add a little cheese, too. But I’ve never added sour cream. Might try that sometime! Thanks for a great video! And praying for Israel! Our SIL grew up Jewish but is now a believer! Praise God! ❤️🙏🏻
It's been many years since I left the Appalachia where I was raised. Received an Ivy League education and became a tenured professor at an elite institution. Along the way I never heard spoken the dialect of my native region, and I rinsed my own speech of it as I rose in my profession. God, how I love hearing you speak it. It sounds like home and family and belonging. I miss it so much.
I just called my 88 year old mother and she said she had a cold. She loves soups, and now after seeing this video, I will make her some corn chowder and bring it to her. I know she will love it. Thank you so much, I never knew how to make it until just now. It's going to be delicious.
Thank you for this recipe. We were hit by the snow storm a few days ago and it’s so bitterly cold. So I thought this sounded good for supper. I added celery, doubled the carrots and only one cup of potatoes. Then I made your cornbread recipe and added half a cup of onions, quarter cup of jarred jalapeño’s chopped and a little over half cup of xtra sharp cheddar cheese. I dipped the cornbread into the chowder. Oh my goodness. It was to die for. Thanks again.
Many beautiful Blessings to you and your family! I was searching for an easy corn soup recipe, but every recipe was asking for things I didn't have, like immersion blender, half & half, then I came across your beautiful delicious recipe, I must say, I have truly been blessed physically, and spiritually! Your corn soup recipe is easy, and look mighty tasty! When you spoke of finding companions, I am so blessed, God put my Beloved late Husband in my life, we had a beautiful loving marriage and I was honored to be his wife, he was a Godly, loving respectful man,he passed away on February 4th, 2011, I don't believe there would ever be another man so beautiful, as he was! Thank you again for sharing your delicious recipe, and Wisdom, and Encouragement! 🙏🏽👍🏼👏🏽💐
Thank you for pointing people to God! My husband and I will be celebrating our 54th Anniversary this year. The first 10 years without God were very trying but when we gave our lives to Christ it lead us to a wonderful marriage.
(A brand spankin new subscriber here.) I'm so glad I found this channel. I like to watch videos of people actually preparing a recipe. This is my kind of cooking. My husband recently passed away, I know he'd like watching this, and I also know he'd enjoy eating this. I wish he was still with me, I'd absolutely make this for him.
My husband thinks he doesn't like celery, so when I make soup I put the celery in whole or as large as I can to fit in the pot. When its finished, I take tongs and remove the cooked pieces. Great flavor without having to eat the cooked celery.
This is my recipe exactly…..well except for 1 thing! Add a block of cream cheese in with the milk step. Makes it even more creamy and delicious. Thank you so much for sharing great food and the Gospel!
Becky, when you were describing a good mate, you were definitely describing my late husband. He was my very best friend and such a blessing from God. We were married for 511/2 wonderful years. God is so good!!!!! He was a strong Christian and would talk to anyone about Jesus.
Always looking for something simple and delicious to serve to my 7 yr old grandson when we get in from fishing, so that is what we are going to have today :-) thank you for sharing this! I am in the process of making it now and it smells phenomenal! May God continue to bless you and give you the strength to make these wonderful videos for all of us who benefit from them.🙏
I'm betting some good Hickory smoked ham would be great added in this, and I plan to find out ! It's awesome in my potato soup. Thanks for the great looking and sounding recipe 👍👍
I do the same kind of chowder but I live on the coast of Delaware. I steam clams and use the broth from them to add to the chowder and of course the clam meat with the same vegetables.. Corn and clam chowder
Love the Proverbs! There are 31 so my wife and I incorporate a proverb into our daily Bible study. Just match the chapter to the day of the month. Blessings to you and family.
Hi Becky, my kids love chicken corn chowder and I could never get it quite right. I am going to make your recipe and add chicken if they want that, or leftover ham is another thing they love. I have a feeling my hubby would love it too. I love your channel and love that you put our wonderful Father, Son and Holy Ghost first. You have created a community of faith filled believers that love you as our sister in Christ. Your channel feels like home, even to this yankee. Hugs!
Don't feel bad about not knowing anything. That means that you're learning. The smartest people will tell you that they don't know everything. The more you know the more you realize that there's so much more to learn. So you're in good company. I appreciate everything that you do.
Being from Massachusetts and now living in Alabama. Thanks for the chuckle. Chowder base usually uses bacon or bacon drippings to sauté the veggies. Especially in corn chowder, and clam chowder. Love you sweet lady. Be blessed always.
I’ve been a widow since last Christmas. I appreciate your channel because you cook good ole down home food, but the best part of your channel is that you dedicate it to also spreading the gospel of our precious SAVIOUR. I’m praying for you. It’s been a hard year for me also. My husband was an ordained minister and he was in Gospel Music for 50 years. My prayer for you is that Jesus would give you sweet peace and wrap you in His loving arms. May God richly Bless you! It’s also good listening to someone from Tennessee. I live about 35 miles east of Nashville. 🙂
Now Becky, this is just my opinion, I believe your success is directly related to you," Putting God First." OH Yah !!! and your recipes are great and the way in which you walk your viewers through them. Blessings on you and your loved ones this day! John Dillon
Your recipe is the same one my grandma from Canada used and passed down to us. Something really cool: I lived in Japan for 5 years and they make a pureed corn soup they sell in restaurants. It's made exactly the same as your recipe but of course they puree it so it's creamy and smooth. Absolutely yummy! The only thing we do differently is at the end of cooking we put in a little flour/water slurry (1 TB flour/2 TB water) and thicken the chowder. Thank you for sharing this and God bless you! Praying for all of us here today just because I love all of you.
This sounds absolutely wonderful. It's now on the list for a Saturday soup. A slight change is called for in my book. More potatoes and bacon crumbles. Some sweet corn bread as a side, yep,,, I'm thinking an excellent Saturday evening meal
The tool you used to break up the potatoes we call a Mix & Chop. I have 2 from Pampered chef. They are fantastic for breaking up ground beef when browning it! ❤
As I watched this video, I received a text from a friend telling me they are praying for me. This happened while you talked about having friends to lift you up. GOD is so good!!! I really enjoy you videos and your cookbook (another dear friend gave it to me)! I have found that a little bit of thyme really enhances corn soup. I hope you have a very blessed day ❣️
I like to read one chapter per day in the book of proverbs. As in today is January 7th, so I read proverbs 7(as in the 7th chapter) It won't take long and it will bless your life.
Happy New Year lovely woman of God! I love corn chowder (I am from New York, that's what we call it up here LOL) and this recipe looks delicious! I didn't know people in the South called it cream soup. We learn something new every day! And YES AMEN iron sharpens iron! We need to edify and encourage one another in the Word every day! Love you, Becky - you are truly a blessing!
Thank you for inspiring me. I love corn soup. You make it just like my momma did. I'm 70 years old and this is how she taught me. Makes me homesick.❤ I'm going to take my corn I froze this last year and make a pot.
God Bless you! I needed to hear this today! Life is too precious to allow a "friend" to put you down! Move on......God will put the right people on your path if you continue to follow Him and to constantly trust Him! Love the recipe too! Thank you!
Becky, I have to say thank you for not only giving us some great recipes, but also Scripture verses. I believe you shared several weeks ago Jeremiah 17:7-8. Every year I try to seek out and contemplate a word for the year to focus on. I daily look for the word TRUST in Scripture and try to read the context of what God's Word is telling me about TRUST. Something that will bring me closer to the Lord and help me be a better Christian. This year I chose TRUST. I had already shared Proverbs 3:5-6 with friends. Today I was driving doing errands and I found the index card with the Jeremiah 17:7-8 in my car. I like to take a verse with me wherever I go so when there is a lull in my errands I can read and memorize that verse. I looked down in the console area of the car and saw the index card sticking out. The first part of verse 7 says "Blessed is the man who TRUSTS in the Lord..." I smiled when I saw that word TRUST. I smiled and laughed a little bit. The Lord is so good. And I also thanked the Lord for you, Becky, for your discipleship in sharing your faith and encouraging me, and I'm sure others. Blessings to you.
Thank you Becky. My favorite canned soup is chicken corn chowder which is a lot like your recipe with chicken and bacon added! I will try this recipe. It looks delicious!
I won't even eat canned soup,so salty! I love making soup or chowder. Having something simmering on the stove or roasting in the oven is so great this time of year!
I got a chuckle listening þo you explain the difference between cream soup and chowder. Here in New Hampshire we say chowder. I agree with the use of evaporated milk. I only use it in my chowder. I love listening to you and love your cooking. Thank you.
Happy New Year!! Thanks for reminding me about this wonderful cup o' warmth. Nobody doesn't like corn soup. Sometimes we add whatever vegetables need to be used up, or even a few frozen shrimp to be fancy. I like your trick about evaporated milk. Love this channel; you make the kind of stuff we like to eat.
...it's good with seafood, too! I add chunks of salmon or crab meat to mine occasionally... or I will toss I some bacon chunks while I'm sautéing the vegetables...
"If you're not learning, you're not living." I like that. My Grandfather taught me, "The day you stop learning is the day they'll start shoveling rocks on your box." Thanks for the recipe, sounds delicious.
I find your channel a blessing. Because of my health I’m not able to cook anymore. And it breaks my heart because I had such joy cooking old to new to my recipes. May this new year bring you many blessings 🙏🏼☝️✝️🛡️🗡️🕊️
This looks delicious… but even more so I really needed to hear this Word today… thank you for always sharing scripture and being being such a beautiful person ✨
Becky, I enjoy your scripture study in each video so much! I love corn chowder so much! I love to add diced or shredded chicken to my soup. One breast is enough to add, making meat go further in such expensive times. God bless you!!!
I am one lousy cook and I don't like to cook. I'd rather clean the kitchen. My grandmother taught me to clean but not to cook because she didn't like anyone in the kitchen when she was cooking. However I do love watching you cook and hearing the good words and thoughts you have for us.
Becky.. Thank you as always for a great for a great recipe and Happy New Yea!r May God bless you and your channel and your precious family. I do not know how many many recipes of yours I have tried as I know others have too.I know your channel has been a blessing to many as it has been for me and I have been praying for Vanessa all the time I pray the Lord gives her good health and healing..I am so glad to be a part of this channel where you can go and ask for Prayer and know some one will answer. Most of the time I say Lord there are people on Becky's channel that are in need of prayer for whatever reason and you know what it is so I pray that you will answer what ever need they may have. I have take Vanessa's saying and use it all the time "more of you Lord and less of me" Tell her Thank you and I am praying for her as I do for all those on the channel. God Bless Becky and know I am always watching❤Love from Kansas Kathy
Wow Becky, I instantly acquired Hunger Pangs !! Thank you for sharing the wisdom of God's word with us while demonstrating the details of making warm and comforting foods. Bless You. 👍👍👍👍...Michigan
Iron sharpens iron, it doesn't coddle it. My best friends are brutally honest with me, not because they hate me, but love me. You love your children but you discipline them out of love. Love has many faces. We bear each other's burdens but sharpening is a grinding process in this case.
I made your corn chowder recipe this morning. I added carrots, celery and a small can of diced green chiles to add some zing. I topped it off with a dollop of sour cream and some good quality crumbled bacon bits. I had some Kings Hawaiian sweet rolls with butter for a side. It was delicious! I'm going to have some more for supper. Thank you. 😋
Thank you Becky for this great recipe! I’ve made so many of your recipes. They have all been a hit. May God bless you and your family. We appreciate you so much! ❤
Becky, This is a 4th generation chowder soup in my family. I simply love it. We call it Potato Corn Chowder. We have never put in tomato's, peppers, etc in it. Only Bacon, Cheese and Sliced green onions on the top. I also was taught to take 1 cup of potatoes and mash them, and stir that in as a thickener to make it an actual "CHOWDER". Without doing that it's just a soup. I make it at least every 2 weeks, in the winter time. THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing this one with your viewers. They really need to try making this. God Bless, and keep you and yours safe and filled with Joy.
To Miss Becky of The Hillbilly Kitchen- Actually, a chowder & a cream soup aren't the same. Us Yankees call cream soups "cream of tomato", "cream of broccoli", etc. A chowder generally has potatoes, & cream or milk, along with what the main ingredient- such as the recipe in this video is a corn chowder. In New England, clam or seafood chowders are very popular. There is an exception with the milk when it comes to clam & seafood chowders though. There's 2 types: regular milk or cream based, or what's called "Manhattan Clam Chowder". A Manhattan style chowder has a tomato base, & no cream or milk at all. Just thought folks might like a little extra info. My late husband was a professional chef for many years, & we worked side by side in the restaurant we ran. He spent a lot of time in New England & Florida early in his career, so he learned alot about seafood chowders, lol. I miss watching him cook so much. It wasn't a job to him, it was in his soul. Being a chef was who he was, & he loved it. He loved making folks happy through food. I lost my Donnie about a year before you lost your Brett... I love watching you, as it seems to help me feel less lost & alone. You do an amazing service. Not only with the recipes, but with helping people like me to feel less alone & lonely. I'm 58, & I'm always telling myself that if Becky can pull herself together after losing her husband, then I can too. You're an inspiration to me, & I play at least one or two of your videos daily, it feels like visiting with a dear friend. I feel like God brought me to The Hillbilly Kitchen when I needed it most. I can't get to church, so I do my praying & worship from home. Becky's verses seem to hit me at the right time, too. God bless her & her family! 🙏😊
We love corn chowder! The recipe I learned had a base of bacon fried with the onions. We don't make it that way now. I use one can of creamed corn, and frozen corn. We use evaporated milk too. We do our potatoes seperate, but should try it your way. This is economical, filling and tasty! Simple food. I wish I had a friend like you, your so down to earth, sweet , and believe in God.. May he bless your family in every way.
Happy New Year from Ca Miss Becky… I learned something new today myself & im 64. I had no idea that “chowder” was the same as “cream of…” and I’m born & raised California. I love Proverbs and this particular verse -you talk about your life partner. Mine has shaped me in such a good way. God truly blessed me. Thank you for your recipes-i have your cookbook and I love your Bible teachings. Xxoo
Hi, Becky-one of my favorites is chicken corn chowder. So, I DO add chicken stock. I buy rotisserie chicken from my local market on a second day markdown & my hubby & I get a couple of meals out of that chicken. Then I pick what’s left of that bird & use those leftovers in things like the chicken corn chowder. LOVED the devotional & scripture that you shared! Blessings!
Becky, I laughed but not at you but with you. I'm 66 yrs old n raised here in Ga in the country and I didn't know that what we always called Creamy Corn Soup was also called Chowder! I thought Chowder was some other something, something! Hahaha. Now we know! I'll still call it what I'm used to but if somebody happens to ask me, I'll know... I have to tell my kids n grandkids so they'll know. They might already know but I seriously doubt it. Your Soup looks so good and it's been ages since I had any. I'll have to make it bc I sure do like it. Especially on these cold winter days. It'll warm you right up! So good to see you smiling sweetheart. You needed a break from YT a lol just for yourself. Thank you for the Creamy Corn Soup reminder. It brings back memories. Thank also for talking about the Lord n Good Friends n Companions. We all need a God Loving Companion n Friends in our Lives! Much Love n Prayers Always, God Bless. 🙏❤🇺🇸😁

Welcome to Alabama, home of the best cooking in the South!
It looks delicious...thank you for sharing.

We made this tonight… sooooo delicious on a winter night. Thanks a million. We had hush puppies with it to top it off 😍
Your recipe is the same one my grandma from Canada used and passed down to us.
Thank you for watching James
I might get a ham steak and cut it into little pieces and add it to the pot.
Ms. Becky, you and your family are in my prayers 🙏✝️
I am not Christian but I love your recipes and and positive things you post. Love watching you!
You could be anytime 😊
@@faithhope123 😂yup👍
Praying you find the Lord in your heart! He is the way, the truth, and the light!
great soup
The tool you used to break up the potatoes we call a Mix & Chop. I have 2 from Pampered chef. They are fantastic for breaking up ground beef when browning it! ❤
I just got one. I love it for ground beef!
Yes! I keep mine in their utensil caddy next to my stove. That mix n chop has become a go to cooking tool.
As in today is January 7th, so I read proverbs 7(as in the 7th chapter)
It won't take long and it will bless your life.
Proverbs is wonderful, thank you! God's word is great!!!!! Appreciate you sharing!
I have never had corn chowder!!! That will soon be rectified. Thank you so much for the recipe. God Bless You Becky!!!
Thank you, Becky! So now I know I have been making a chowder all along even though I thought it was just a cream soup!
I had no idea lol God bless you!
@@TheHillbillyKitchen Becky, a chowder always contains potatoes, that's the difference between a cream soup vs. a chowder.
I love soups and chowder that looks delicious 😋
Thanks for the great idea. Always struggle with kids on Fridays since we don't eat meat (abstinence for the Passion of Christ) and allergic to dairy.
Thank you for all the tips ! The canned milk tip was the best tip ! God bless !
Becky, you are a blessing to us all. I wish you were my sister🙏🏻💜✝️ Thank you for your wisdom and recipes.
7:45... "if you're not learning, you're not livin'" PERFECT. I try to learn something every day... I can't take a nap until I do.🤠🤠
Thank you for inspiring me.
@@christinehutchins123
Boiling a potato in very salty soup really does work! Just toss the potato after ... Or use pieces of it for seasoning. 🙂
Well that sounds delicious 😊
Thank so much Amy for being a part of The Hillbilly Kitchen and God bless you and your family!
...it's good with seafood, too! I add chunks of salmon or crab meat to mine occasionally... or I will toss I some bacon chunks while I'm sautéing the vegetables...
I like the evaporated milk trick too.
Another twist is adding bits of chicken. It's a great way to use up leftover chicken 😋
Shrimp and Corn Soup is what I was Looking for today… Thanks for your Great Idea! 👍👍
Me and my husband are contemplating on cooking this now !
Thank you Becky 😊
God bless you! I love watching you cook and sharing God’s word! ❤
Thanks, I never knew that chowder soups and creamed soups were the same thing.
"If you're not learning, you're not living." I like that. My Grandfather taught me, "The day you stop learning is the day they'll start shoveling rocks on your box." Thanks for the recipe, sounds delicious.
Thank you for watching and God bless you
I find your channel a blessing. Because of my health I’m not able to cook anymore. And it breaks my heart because I had such joy cooking old to new to my recipes.
May this new year bring you many blessings 🙏🏼☝️✝️🛡️🗡️🕊️
And may blessings come to you Nan!
This looks delicious… but even more so I really needed to hear this Word today… thank you for always sharing scripture and being being such a beautiful person ✨
I have looked for a good corn chowder recipe for ages. So excited for this. Thank you Becky.
That corn chowder looks so yummy. The tool that you are using was made for chopping up ground meats as it cooks.
Becky, I enjoy your scripture study in each video so much!
I love corn chowder so much!
I love to add diced or shredded chicken to my soup. One breast is enough to add, making meat go further in such expensive times. God bless you!!!
Love you Becky❤️ thank you for being a sweet part of my life. I learned to cook for my grandmother. She was precious like you.
I am one lousy cook and I don't like to cook. I'd rather clean the kitchen. My grandmother taught me to clean but not to cook because she didn't like anyone in the kitchen when she was cooking. However I do love watching you cook and hearing the good words and thoughts you have for us.
My mama used to make this, it was one of my favorites! Never had a recipe though, so thank you for this😊
That looks so delicious. My aunt used to make it too. That's where I first had some. I will make yours 👍🏻✝️ God bless you
I never thought about it but you're right soups or chowder 😆
Iron sharpens iron, it doesn't coddle it. My best friends are brutally honest with me, not because they hate me, but love me. You love your children but you discipline them out of love. Love has many faces. We bear each other's burdens but sharpening is a grinding process in this case.
Happy New Year, precious soul. Nice to see you, and thank you for this recipe. hugs.
Thank you Cristy and Happy New Year! ❤️
Becky your corn soup looks delicious, great for this cold weather.👍☘️
Yummmmmo
Looks so delicious😍
Thank you for this awesome recipe.
I did not know about the chowder and cream soup difference and thanks for the tips on frozen vegetables
Thank you and a happy 2023 ❤!
Happy New Year from Ca Miss Becky…
I learned something new today myself & im 64.
Xxoo
Luscious and warming on a cold day.
Chowder always has potatoes in it, that's the difference between a cream soup and chowder.
