I've lived in Virginia for 44 years. I was ticketed for 10 miles over the limit after they LOWERED the speed limit from 45 to 35, temporarily, on a ¼ mile section of road. There was not any construction, nothing. It was simply lowered. The limit was then raised back to 45 before my scheduled court date even arrived. I was still prosecuted to the full fine! From the ages of 17 - 19, I would be pulled over “randomly” and my car would be searched for drugs and weapons. This would happen about once every two months. One time the cops, being frustrated not finding anything illegal, seized my stereo, amps, and speakers claiming they were stolen. I had to go to court with the receipts and a lawyer to get them returned. Finally, I wound up keeping a list of dates I’d be pulled over and would hand it to the officers along with the registration. The officers would ask what the list of dates was and when I told them they stopped asking to search the car and started saying, “drive safely and have a nice day”. I’ve never had a Virginia Police Officer help me. I’ve only encountered negative interactions with them. Topping it all off, “to serve and protect” is no longer on the graphics of police cars in my little slice of Virginia.
@@trevor8273 Police useally come up with some bs excuse to use probable cause which than they can search your car. Its really stupid the way thats exploited but they do it and get away with it anyways.
@@trevor8273 Of course this is true but seeming like the cops are sort of corrupt, they could easily say “oh i smell marijuana” or “i see bags in your car” a lot of states have banned this type of search though. I’m not sure if Virgina is one of them.
I remember reading about a city in Texas that had a dead person signing the “verified” red light camera tickets, the system was automated with a rubber stamped signature. It was only discovered when another policeman, that knew the deceased, received a ticket signed by his dead friend. They were also caught having shorter timings on red lights with cameras than ones without, resulting in more tickets, but they weren’t the only ones caught doing it. This is why people have trust issues.
Damn that's crooked. My city set up red light cameras a few years ago. Turns out nobody paid them, so the city lost millions and wound up just taking them down. The private company that rented the cameras was gonna make most of the profit anyways. Fuckin crooks
I heard some would also randomly alter the yellow light time, so perhaps 1 in 10 times it would be abnormally short, so you would drive through expecting it to stay yellow, but it would change red.
What’s even more disturbing is the red light camera companies can’t enforce suspending a license and also can’t issue warrants for unpaid tickets. So many people pay the fines thinking they have to. One of my buddies received 8 tickets from cameras and refused to pay them after he learned from the ticket givers themselves that they couldn’t enforce him to pay them.
Raging Bullet dude i’m friends with more cops than any non cop here I have nothing but respect for law enforcement but this one cop is the biggest pos i’ve ever met
That's why to just tell the cop to fuck off if you're from out of state and just dont pay the ticket, nothing they can do if you never show back up in Virginia
In PA, any speeding of 20 or more over gets your car impounded and you get a ride to jail plus a hefty fine and suspension. Which is hilarious because if you do anything less then 20 over on the Turnpike, you’re getting run over.
That's one you usually DON'T have to worry about. If you take it to court, they have to have both the officer in the aircraft and the officer on the ground testify in court. It's am empty threat.
Lol I’ve lived in VA my whole life and the things you said are 100% correct but for me, living in VA for as long as I remember, I thought these things are common everywhere else in the US and now I’m mad... like real mad....
come to Iowa our cops let you go over the speed limit if everyone around is also going over the speed limit, and you may dive 5 over the speed limit whenever you want, even in school zones
@@foxyfoxy2034 In SC, most cops won't even look at you if you're going less than 10 over. Just don't speed in a school or construction zone, that's where they make the money. Oh, interestingly enough, construction never seems to get finished......
I live in Houston & the average speed limit is 65, I drive about 75 and get passed by cops daily.... unless your just FN up real bad they don't mess with you "Knock on wood" However, I can only drive that fast at certain times of the day because traffic SUCKS!!! Bruh idk if you know 66 in virgina or 495 but goddam people who drive 70-90 mph but cops don’t really say anything unless your by your self people average drive 70 on 55 mph roads so i don’t understand why they don’t just change it
You forgot the second part of that Reckless Driving law: 80 is automatically reckless driving. So, if the speed limit on a section of highway is 70 and you are doing 10 over and get pulled over, you get that reckless driving also.
bbmikej agreed. I travel on 66 and 81 to go between DC and college and being limited to 80 is t h e w o r s t. Not to mention the speed limit drops to 65 or even 60 around some towns.
Exactly! On the longer 2-lane highways what happens is you end up with people being unable to pass tractor trailers and then traffic bunches up, visibility is reduced and it all goes to shit.
Makes me feel luckier being in NY. We have low speed limits compared to the rest of the country, but at the same time traffic doesn't care and routinely does 75-80 anyways lol
I live in VA and this is pretty accurate. The one thing you didn't mention, though, is the insane amount of state troopers we have just for "traffic enforcement". I like to call them road pirates. Depending on the county/city the local cops can be pretty bad too. I once had a county cop pull me over because he said I wasn't wearing my seat belt, when there was no way he could have seen whether I was wearing it or not. And I was actually wearing my seat belt while I was driving, but when I stopped my car I had to unbuckle to get my registration out of the glove compartment because my seatbelt would lock up even when I wasn't breaking hard. So I know for a fact he pulled me for no reason, and I called him out on his bullshit. Then he gave me a ticket for having an air freshener hanging from my mirror instead, which is apparently illegal in VA.
As a Virginian, and a young driver, no only does it help the politicians, but getting a suspended license also is a gold mine for insurance companies. Getting a suspended license makes you "a liability" and as we all know, being a liability makes your insurance rates go through the roof 🙏
Who would have known that driving very fast? Failing to signal and running stop signs would increase your risk of damageing your vehicle? And would statistically increase the likelihood of a insurance company having to pay claim? Wierd.... Come on man. I'm not judging you. I myself am not a law biding driver all the time. But if I get my license suspended from a traffic violation. I can't reasonably blame the insurance company. I would be mad about yeah. But it wasn't their fault.

As a Virginia native living in a small town I once saw a police officer in a Ford Explorer sitting in between two Ford Explorers at a dealership running radar for people that passed by as part of a speed trap.
So? What's so hard about driving within the speed limit? I still don't understand how it's unfair to be ticketed for that. I get passed by packs of cars traveling at least 20 over the limit all the time. Why shouldn't they be ticketed?
@@BobBob-eb4io So what are you saying? That you understand why people break the law and put other people in danger, so we should simply not enforce the law?
At least you don't have "smart motorways" in the US. You can get done when the speed limit automatically changes and you are already past the sign. Also people keep getting killed when the hard shoulder opens.
don't even get started with the safety, emissions, and the totally unfair property tax laws that judges on what you drive and which county you live in. I used to own an '88 cougar and most shops I took to once(and never again) likes to reject it for dumb reasons i.e. "loose electrical cabling" or my driver door's loose handle problem which requires a donor door to fix; meanwhile, other drivers next to me at the stoplight in their banged up hoopties get legally registered and seem not never get pulled over.
Blame Government and the tyrants in that said Government...every state is slowly becoming similar... Just look at your Second Amendment across the nation, every state that enforces gun legislation usually comes after every other hobby and interest people have later on.
NC (at least in the part I'm in?) is just as bad. During some months you will see speed traps every mile or so down main roads. Luckily, most cops here aren't going to write you a ticket for up to 5 over, bit 6 over and they will make you regret it. 15 over and you're screwed. 30 over and you might as well move to a different state.
My wife once got a speeding ticket while visiting family in VA for doing 70 in a 50. We are from NJ so she needed to return to VA several months later to appear in court. A few things we found out about ticketing in VA. #1. Do not go more than 19 MPH above the speed limit, because anything 20 MPH or more, and your moving violation turns into a MISDEMEANOR. You read that right. A misdemeanor. So it becomes a criminal offense, punishable up to 12 months in jail, with fines. #2. The police TARGET out of state plates, especially ones from NY and NJ. #3. Even if you're polite to the police officer, unless you are bleeding and/or currently in cardiac arrest, you WILL receive a ticket if you are stopped. Not worth a conversation or argument. Just hand over your documentation and wait for your summons. Moral of the story? Avoid VA.
Hi, I’m from Virginia and multiple people I know have been pulled over simply for having temporary plates, one of the cops told the driver that they pulled them over not because they were expired but “because they were going to expire eventually”... crazy right???
@@kojack635 I heard a car journalist was sent to jail for speeding in Virginia. So I thought he was going to mention the incarceration part. Maybe they changed that? I heard that story a few years ago.
Glad I'm not the only one thinking that lmao. Also, as someone who drives in Baltimore frequently, indid find it odd the cameras were snapping pics like they're Instagram models. Though Baltimore drivers are pretty bad
As a former VA driver, I can confirm. There's an other little town on 95 called Emporia ( a main pass through when heading South to FL, GA, and the Carolinas) that it probably the best known by VA drivers for speed traps. I literally saw 5 cruisers lined up after coming over a hill one time. I live in Japan now and I have yet to see a speed trap. It is a much less stressful environment to drive in.
I got off 95 one morning in/near Emporia for route 58. I saw a state trooper, an Emporia cop, a county sheriff, and a DOT enforcement car in the first mile or two.
As a virginia native, when I saw the thumbnail for the video and laughed. I knew it was virginia. It blows driving here. So much. I have had multiple road trips of over 12 hours. I will literally see about 6 cops over the course of hundreds of miles, but as soon as I get back to virginia. No lie, I will see 6 within the first hour.
My story: active duty stationed in Virginia most of my career (other than deployments overseas). One time, I received a wreckless driving by speeding ticket on a highway exit ramp. The cop wrote the ticket as though the speed limit was the ramp suggested speed - not the actual speed limit. By the actual speed limit, I was doing 2 mph over. Yeah, two - and written a wreckless driving. I was so infuriated that I did hire an attorney (and shelled out almost 3k for it) to fight it even citing Virginia's own driving code as well as the DMV manuals. The cop didn't have a leg to stand on and it was quickly apparent that he wrote a ticket for something that wasn't even illegal. So, what did the judge do about it? He dropped it from a wreckless to an improper driving. Yeah. lol. You can't make this shit up. The judge, literally, saw that I was barely speeding according to state law - and still pushed the issue as far as he could (cause he knew that he let the wreckless go, I'd have make a big scene out of it to whoever would pay me enough attention. That includes the media if they would have.) I had my entire military chain-of-command in the back of the courtroom, by the way. The ticket was finally dismissed, however, after the judge asked for my driving record. I had already pulled my own out-of-state record and had it certified and mailed to me, previously, so I handed it over. It was impressive. Clean as a whistle - though, I had been driving since I was 15. Not withstanding this, the officer shows the judge "my" driving record that he had pulled - which contrasted, drastically, to my own certified copy. What gives? Well, the cop pulled the wrong record. He pulled the record of someone with my same last name but a different first name (I actually knew the guy from high school, ironically) and his record had TONS of infractions. So, was the officer just incredibly inept as his job or was he intentionally trying to manipulate the system to receive a harsher punishment for me? Who knows. Honestly, who cares. Either way, he deserves to be fired, in my opinion. Certainly, you can't trust him to do what he's paid to do, regardless. He still works there to my knowledge, though, and so does the corrupt judge. Newport News, Virginia, you are garbage. Yep...
Surprised there’s not more complaints about Emporia. They use those sites to impose hefty construction zone speeding tickets tacked on to a speeding tickets. Yeah.....they got me and 4 other employees of the same company in a matter of hours
4:39 There's studies that show that more speed traps/too many traffic cops can actually cause MORE accidents, ironically enough, from people getting distracted by seeing speed traps/cops, slamming on their brakes, and disrupting the normal flow of traffic, potentially causing people to rear end each other, or unaware driver's swerving around those slowing down thinking it's just a slow driver, potentially hitting someone else, etc. So yea, it's JUST about money. The "safety" thing is mostly just a hollow excuse.
It's always about money dude, money and control. I drive a dump truck in NYC, you gotta see the scams here. NYC contracts out work to pave their streets, so they know exactly how much every truck costs and how many trucks they will have on a particular job, and based on those numbers they know damn well that in order for the contractor to make any money and not lose a fuck ton, they know every single truck will have to be "overloaded". In fact, in NY legally we would only be allowed to carry half of what we typically do. Then they setup truck checkpoints and check our weight and write outrageous fines. Thousands of dollars each. I don't own nor have I ever owned one of the trucks myself so I don't see the actual fine, but I've heard it comes out to about a dollar per pound over the limit. And you can EASILY BE 15000-20000LBS over. So then the contractor has to go to court and the courts maybe cut the fine in half or so to make you feel like you aren't being fucked in the ass dry.
@screaming chivo I know man, I know. I grew up here but I'm sick of this communist bullshit. Took me almost 3 years to get a pistol license, had to get a lawyer and everything and that's with no felonies, no misdemeanor convictions, no violent record whatsoever. Fucking kangaroo court system. And the taxes are fucking ridiculous. But of course they are, we need to support all the low lives and illegals. I would've left already but me and my wife split and my daughter is here, plus I'm 5 years into my Union, don't want to have to start that all over.
Let's be honest, those studies are highly biased. In general, IF people were driving the speed limit, roads would most definitely be safer. But to ensure that people do drive the speed limit you'd need to install average speed cameras instead of cops looking out for speeders at a single point.
@@uli07 Yes! You're right. Driving education can increase safety more than having a speed limit, BUT only given the right rules (such as overtaking from the right being illegal, you are *only* allowed to overtake cars on the right of you on the Autobahn). Also keep in mind a driver's license costs roughly 2000$ or more here in Germany and that money is going into proper education and enough driving training with a professional certified instructor at your side and far from easy theoretical and practical driving tests.
I live in Virginia and drive the “million dollar mile” every day and I at least see one car pulled over every time I go through there. Another thing they like to abuse is the move over law. They will sit around a corner with their lights on and wait for a car that can’t get over in time just to pull them over.
Virginia 100% pulls this shit for profit. My city (St. Louis, Missouri) has no speeding enforcement at all and yet, despite having an abnormally high rate of total car accidents, we have an abnormally low rate of car accident fatalities

I love that someone is finally calling this out. I caught one of these "reckless driving" tickets and landed myself 4 days in jail for it, lost my license for 6 months, and had massive fines since that part of the highway was dedicated as a "highway safety corridor". Gotta love Virginia

I currently live in Norfolk, Virginia, and avoiding speed traps is kind of an artform. I like to go fast and I always know where speed traps usually are. Thankfully, I've never been pulled over. The 55 mph restriction is abysmally slow, especially when my morning commute is already 30+ minutes. Generally, where I am, cops don't really care if you go 5 to 10 mph over. But not a day goes by where I don't see someone on the shoulder with a cop behind them. Truly is a shit state for drivers
You joke, but I think that's probably the case. I refuse to believe that slowing drivers from an instant kill speed to a slower instant kill speed improves safety on the highway. That or the differences between states are just too negligible, since I notice none of the raw numbers were given to us. Regardless, I'd like to see fatalities per accident, since speed doesn't actually cause any accidents. It just makes an accident that would've happened worse
Avrage Gamers growing up in Maryland and traveling through Virginia often I have learned to only drive the speed limit. You not about to catch me driving 3 hours to go to court.

Just moved from CA to VA. Speed traps are significantly more prevalent here! And we frequently say to each other "why is this speed limit so low for this road?!" Also, it makes locals drive faster because they feel "they know the roads" AND likely won't be pulled over with VA Plates - so it causes unsafe road conditions.

Actually compared to most states Virginia's roads are pretty good. Virginia is ranked #4 for best overall driving conditions and this is despite also being number one in the country for the worst traffic along 95 south from Fairfax county PKWY to Fredericksburg. Virginia also ranks as the second least dependent on federal funding overall to include road and other programs meaning it is second only to North Dakota for being the most self sufficient state in the country. North Dakota only has a population of 760k where VA pop is 8.5m. Sure the laws here suck on just about everything car related but I have been to worse parts of the country when it comes to the roadways.
martrysdeath751 fuck no they aren’t. The north pays the most and south of Culpepper the roads are pristine, up above Culpepper our roads are absolute shit

Georgia has several state statutes that help reduce or prevent "speed traps." Laws like the vehicle being used (police car) to detect speed must be visible from 500 feet (doesn't apply to Georgia State Patrol), and police can't use speed detection within a certain distance of a change in speed limit e.g., you get a short grace distance when the speed limit changes before police can use radar or lidar to detect your speed.

I got a ticket mailed to me from Baltimore, and when I looked into it the cameras have to be calibrated. When I looked at my specific camera, it hadn't been calibrated in over 2yrs. When I brought that up to have it dropped, they sent me a pdf with an "updated" camera calibration that was dated properly. I never paid it and it got dropped.
In my country it depends on where you do the speeding. But 20 mph over, or 30kph as we'd say, can in fact be a reason to suspend your license on the spot for a minimum of 10 days. Though to get to that point, you would have to be within city limits, and it has to be either in a 30kph-zone, a school zone, or a special 'residential area zone'. And even then the only reason why it can happen is that the speed limit in those zones are 30kph or below and doubling the speed limit is an automatic reckless driving charge. Otherwise within city limits, in a 50kph zone, if you do 30 over the limit, it's not a simple transaction fine. As in pay the fine and it's done, no lasting impact or anything at all. If you do 30 over the limit within city limits, it goes on your record for the next 18 years and for the next 2 years it means that other fines for doing 30 over are automatically doubled. The exception to this is the motorway, where the speed limit is 100 or over. There you get to do 40 over before you have to show up in court. But with the national speed limit being 130kph, that leaves plenty of leeway. Well it would if it weren't for near omnipresent average speed camera systems. Then again fuel here costs more than thrice what it costs in the US, and my insurance gives me a significant discount if I drive around with a GPS dongle in the car. So I just pootle around behind lorries, never going faster than 80 kph and as a reward I get full comprehensive insurance with 0 deductible for 17 euro a month.
They don’t even enforce the speed limit at all in California. Los Angeles is like the Autobahn or Wild West on the Highways, but they will definitely get you on the parking tickets. East Coast is way more strict in my experience
Reckless means different things in different countries. In finland if you do over 20kmh over the speedlimit, you could lose your license for a time and get a fine. Also you could get off with a fine but it depends on the circumstances you were caught in. The amount of the fine and the time you have your license revoked depends on things such as the time of day, weather conditions, your driving style, did you admit to the crime on the spot or not, did you try to run or not, were there other cars on the road with you, did you pass any cars, if there were other people in the car with you etc. But atleast we also have roadsigns telling us which intersections and parts of the road have speeding supervision or not, cameras for example. And they warn us good time before it happens too
Same I'm from the uk and I though it would be that state don't know. I think that probably because it's quite well off compared to other states around but also very strict

Always blows my mind that I am sitting in court for speeding 25 over and they are letting a guy walk that drove on the sidewalk at 50 mph without a license and no lights.
I can't believe you did an episode about speed traps in Virginia and didn't mention they have those turnaround spots in the woods with perfect cover for hiding every 5 miles or something
I remember in high school almost every week someone would receive a reckless driving ticket. I’ve gotten 2 before I was 18. The most notorious culprit of this is the fact that you can take some classes only offered in one high school or tech school in my county and you’re given the option to travel between schools for those classes. But there’s never enough time unless you speed.
There was an entire town that was a speed trap close to where I grew up. They regularly impound vehicles like modified corvettes, mustangs, suvs and even an old iroc. The state finally received enough complaints that the IG was forced to audit the town… only a few of the cops and politicians were given probation the rest were sent to prison and the town was bankrupted. … so at least that story has a happy ending.
I am from VA, this is pretty accurate. It sucks that lots of highways are only 55 and they do reduce the speeds very quickly. Sometimes it -10 to -15 mph! Also, there is this speed trap spot near where I live where police sit at the bottom of a huge incline waiting for drivers to reach the bottom while accidentally going over the speed limit 🙄
@@TheJacobshapiro ah.. really? how about cities starting to lower to 30 (20mph) speed limit on main roads. a fucking bicycle overtakes you and doesn't have to pay for any fines!
Thats why you get the radar detector, detector deflector. Lol but really some new detectors at least can hide the fact it exists to the police detectors
There are sections of highways in Virginia where a 55 MPH zone drops to a 25 MPH zone. The good part is some of these area's where the speed drops the sign is obscured by a tree or bush. The police sit right after the sign so they can get you quick. My brother-in-law from Georgia has gotten tickets twice in Virginia. The bad part is that he got caught speeding both times in the same town.
It's a $100 fine and they can seize it. They TECHNICALLY have to give it back after your court appearance, but good luck getting anything back that the cops take from you.
Whatareyoudoingyouidiot My mom once owned a huge Ford excursion van that had some sort of “Merry Miler” package added onto it. On top of all the amazing options that vehicle came with, it had a built in radar detector. If it wasn’t, that thing looked factory. Did a TON of cross country travel in that van, and that detector always impressed me. When we moved from Texas to VA in 1988, my mom turned off the detector. Being 5-8 in VA, I didn’t understand, so I asked her. She said that it was illegal in the state. I still did not understand. If they had to seize it, I can’t imagine how they would go about doing it without destroying the headliner. And she just turned it off, since that’s all she could do. She never got pulled over in that state, but had she... ...”right lady. It was turned off the whole time. These vans had blinds and curtains. Cop wouldn’t be able to tell if she didn’t had it on and quickly turned it off, hide some narcotics, or even decided to reach for a fire arm.
Not only this, but in VA they also intentionally hike up your alleged MPH at the time of the incident in order to make more profit, say you were going 66 in a 55mph zone, they will charge you for 74mph(because its a certain dollar amount per mile over the speed limit).
I've been learning that the hundred(s) of towns that make up Maricopa County, AZ (home to Phoenix and Scottsdale) are all apparently competing for the worst place to get pulled over. There's no escaping the fines in court, it's a huge revenue generator and is so unbelievably shady.
Virginia's bad but Alabama's really bad too. Especially around construction sites. Two of the worst speed traps I've been prey to were in "construction zones". In both cases, there were no workers for miles, one was on the highway and the other was in the boonies. In the case of the latter, while construction was going on, the speed limit was 45 (the normal speed limit being 55) but the day I got my ticket, there were no speed signs in sight.
Isaac D I literally didn’t bring my car to college because my college is in Virginia and I KNEW I’d rack up so many tickets. Being from NC, they do not care toooo much

I live in Virginia always tell this to all my friends. Virginia driver's either drive like they dont know what a brake pedal is or they dont know what a gas pedal is.
Unless you’re in a melting pot city (where there are so many drivers from all over the country and the world that there really isn’t any commonality in driving style) Virginia drivers are among the best at getting out of the left lane.
Blame the voters who elect them. Voters in those speed trap towns knowingly elect politicians who promise to keep local taxes low by screwing over unsuspecting motorists.
In Colorado I got caught in a speed trap and the officer originally put me down as reckless driving and a ticket that would have been a felony charge in the state. Luckily, through some politeness and honesty with the city attorney, I got it reduced to a simple ticket that just had me pay a fine.
This is why when my work takes me to Virginia for a week, I use cruise control EVERYWHERE. Doesn't hurt that I'm also getting paid for the extra driving time.
dolamyte you can run over protesters and now how autobahn tell me how does your state does it and are your gun laws lean (meaning you can own any gun you want) I also was planning to move to VA
Something you forgot. VA has never, and probably will never, figure out how to remove snow from a road. I grew up in PA and I used to think MD did a shitty job clearing roads in the winter. Until I started working in the VA side of DC. I drove to work one morning. The MD beltway was wet, with a tiny bit of slush between lanes here and there. I crossed the American Legion Bridge into VA and road conditions began to deteriorate. By the time I got to the Dulles Toll Road, the beltway was completely snow covered. And I saw the same thing driving home. There was 6" of snow on the VA beltway, but as soon as I crossed the Legion Bridge, the road was just wet.
I clicked on this because I knew it would be about Virginia, sadly I live there and I constantly have to drive with anxiety just because my exhaust is slightly loud
Yes I live in Virginia and it's very true. They laws are crazy. Especially when you compare it to neighboring tennessee. I have driven on suspended in the past and know people still doing it. They also use these traps to have reason to search and find more to charge you with.
@@aidanfraser580 The wife of the mayor of Bryant, AR got a ticket for going 2-3 mph over the limit in the city. The ticket got thrown out and a big time ass chewing given to the cop for being predatory. My best friend used to know all those people in charge of that city.
As a Virginian car enthusiast I can absolutely confirm that everything here is 100% the truth. Some smaller towns in Virginia are even reliant on unjust speeding tickets, and it’s how they make the great majority of their income. If you’re looking for a safe Virginian road to joy ride on, I highly recommend the blue ridge parkway, although it’s frequently down for maintenance.

Va suck ass to drive in. I' have only had one """"decent"""" interaction with a cop. this place sucks.

Actually, the constant nagging and stealing by police in the US is a major reason why I moved to Mexico.

They didn't mention the 81+ MPH reckless law. If you're going 81 even in a 70 in Virginia, you automatically get a reckless. Personal experience.
This state is an absolute driving hell hole.
And if you get a reckless driving ticket you can’t get a CDL, and if you have a CDL it’s gone.
Its actually if you're doing 80 MPH on the dot. Not 81+

Also I can't stop thinking about the highways around DC. Since it's common for even the COPS to be going 15-25 over the limit in NoVA.
At least Maryland has 85 for reckless driving

Avoid VA.

Yep...

@@uli07
Yes!
I've seen them pull the wrong person going thru there before. Example they pulled a white van but it was the wrong white van
It's pull over or slow, so you can fight it.
Virginia 100% pulls this shit for profit. My city (St. Louis, Missouri) has no speeding enforcement at all and yet, despite having an abnormally high rate of total car accidents, we have an abnormally low rate of car accident fatalities

There was one time I made a troll park that made over $1 million/week. The exploit is most useful at key public transit transfers (e.g. going from train stations) or along convenient, popular walking paths.
The reason why it's such a safe state to drive and it's because nobody's got a driver's license they don't want to crash into each other 🤣

You joke, but I think that's probably the case. I refuse to believe that slowing drivers from an instant kill speed to a slower instant kill speed improves safety on the highway. Regardless, I'd like to see fatalities per accident, since speed doesn't actually cause any accidents. It just makes an accident that would've happened worse

We have a local road that kills about 2 people each over about 10 miles. They lowered the speed limit to 50 but folks often speed and kill themselves.

But all Georgia cops parents are brother and sister
And all the police in your area are regularly serviced by you

As someone who’s lived in Virginia all my life, I thought 20 over being reckless was universal. I guess it’s time for a road trip
I got pulled over in ny (I live here) I was doing 29 over. I got a speeding ticket, had to pay $350ish and four points on my license
My brother got a ticket for driving 75 on a 55
They don’t even enforce the speed limit at all in California.

Not only this, but in VA they also intentionally hike up your alleged MPH at the time of the incident in order to make more profit, say you were going 66 in a 55mph zone, they will charge you for 74mph(because its a certain dollar amount per mile over the speed limit).
Funny I just got pulled yesterday for doing 73 in 45 when my speedo said I was going 61 at most

I've been learning that the hundred(s) of towns that make up Maricopa County, AZ (home to Phoenix and Scottsdale) are all apparently competing for the worst place to get pulled over. There's no escaping the fines in court, it's a huge revenue generator and is so unbelievably shady.

Virginia: hold my speeding tickets
Josua Hutapea land of the taxed home of the harassed
Land of the fee, home of the slave.

As someone that lives in Virginia and has had my license suspended 3 times so far yes this state sucks for being a car enthusiast.
It does don’t it?! I think I’ve Driven illegal longer then I have legally. Hell I was able to get my ls for like two years and nvr did just Bc they can’t take what you don’t have. Its fine as long as you obey the law.
I live in Virginia always tell this to all my friends. Virginia driver's either drive like they dont know what a brake pedal is or they dont know what a gas pedal is.
Chief A. Sounds about right
Unless you’re in a melting pot city (where there are so many drivers from all over the country and the world that there really isn’t any commonality in driving style) Virginia drivers are among the best at getting out of the left lane.
Come to Charlottesville noone believes in slower traffic keep right. They will ride 50mph in the left lane in a 65. Or backroads do 30 in a 55.
Same in a lot of states. I hear CO is an exception.
Spot on. Especially in the 757
Everyday i find myself despising politicians more and more.
that comes with getting old(if your doing it right)
They are to happiness as vampires are to a person's blood.
I'd definitely do like 10 under the speed limit atleast then, it's free money.
Won’t help with a speed trap that drops from 65 mph to 30 mph or whatever
@@joeracer302 Use Waze, as you'll be shown the speed drop and also cop alerts.
joeracer302 yep gps and cruise control once the map speed limit update hit the breaks and reset cruise control. Or just drive a Tesla on autopilot.

I also was planning to move to VA
Idk where you live, please dont come here I’m even trying to gtf out of Virginia
I think all legal drivers drive with a bit of anxiety in our state. :(

Yes I live in Virginia and it's very true. They laws are crazy. Especially when you compare it to neighboring tennessee. I have driven on suspended in the past and know people still doing it. They also use these traps to have reason to search and find more to charge you with.
Lol so true. For sure they will try to get you out of the car and search it after they pull you over. Glad I moved away a long time ago
