    In this video, Dr. Berg talks about an artificial sweetener called Splenda(sucralose). It is one of the most popular but it is chlorinated sugar which means they added chlorine and also maltodextrin which has a very high glycemic index that could greatly spike the blood sugar.
    • Maltodextrin - This can raise blood sugar.
    • It alters the Intestinal Bacteria
    • Worsen Blood Sugars - Increases risk of insulin resistance and A1C, a type of test to indicate blood sugar problems.
    • Increase the thymus gland - It is involved in immunity.
    Other Recommended NON-GMO Sweeteners:
    • Erythritol
    • Xylitol
    • Stevia
    • Monk Fruit

    I know how bad it is as I remember years ago I used to use it as my only sweetener and after 3 months the chlorine would build up in me and my head would be hurting so bad and I had to lay down in a dark room with the lights off. The only thing that would help is me vomiting and then I’d feel better, this used to go on for about 2 years I thought something was wrong with me until one day I was on UA-cam and this guy was talking about Splenda and the symptoms from taking it and low and behold it was the same that I was experiencing, he was saying that Stevia was the best sweetener.
    I decided to stop the Splenda and only after 3 days of not taking it I was a different person I woke up with no headache that I used to have constantly everyday this slight headache living with: I could not believe it you mean I was poisoning myself with this splenda😳
    I switched to Stevia and to this day I never went back in the office with that bad headache and trying to vomit to feel better,
    Anyone who is taking Splenda should stop right away it is poison poison!

    Update:
    According to my research, pure Sucralose which comes in a liquid like "Splenda Zero" or what I think is the best "EZ Sweetz" has NO insulin response because it doesn't have the Maltodextrin in it which is used to create the powder in the powder form of Sucralose like splenda in the packets or big bag. The Maltodextrin is what causes an insulin response and it's worse than actual sugar. As for liquid Sucralose I use a few drops in my Kale shake, in my coffee and in my ACV/Cranberry/Lemon cocktail. I haven't noticed any noticeable side effects yet and I'm not really worried about it. It makes my dieting much more pleasurable and I can't stand Stevia. BTW - after a month of using it I'm in about a 4.4 state of ketosis which is a pretty strong ketonic state for fat burning.
    What are your thoughts, Dr. Berg???

    There is a new Splenda called Splenda Naturals, only in the small container, it only has erythritol and stevia, none of the extra junk. However, if you buy the same product (same package look etc) in their larger size bag is filled with all of the stuff talked about in the video. The Splenda Naturals is the best no aftertaste sweetener I have found, and I hate sweetener of all kinds. I think there should be something done to not allow this company to market their identical sweetener in 2 forms under the same labeling unless you look you don't know. The bag is just poison junk but the small 9oz container is fine.

      think again during the 1990's the FDA prohibited the use of Stevia the artificial sweetener in spenda naturals. Stevia remained banned for all uses until the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994, after which the FDA revised its stance and permitted stevia to be used as a dietary supplement, although still not as a food additive.

    Question: I know that Splenda is looked down upon (because it actually has other sugars used as fillers) but recently I found 100% pure sucralose powder. A small 3.5 oz. package has over 3300 servings! I find, that use only about 33mg which is so tiny that I have to use a special micro-spoon filled only 1/3 of the way! I don't find myself over-doing it, and I simply cannot stand any of the other sweeteners even having bought and tried seemingly all of them.
    Can you give your opinion on using the 33mg/serving pure 100% sucralose? Does it have the same gut bacteria problems?

    What about the liquid Splenda? Apparently, it doesn't have the maltodextrin. Only the powder have it.

      I would also like to see these control studies. I just lost 70 pounds using Splenda in small amounts as a sugar substitute and I’ve never felt so good in decades! Real sugar was declining my health, rather than Splenda. The other sweeteners have such awful aftertastes! Please show me human studies that show that Splenda is actually bad for you please....

    Dr berg, I've been on keto over a month and I've been using Stevia with maltdextion in and by the strips I'm in ketosis, I won't be using the Stevia anymore. Will my months of progress be ruined by my blood sugars? As im type 2 ? Only found out a month ago...but hoping to reverse it. I go back to get my blood checked in 2 months...Will the Stevia of ruined my progress in two months time ?

    Dr. Berg, what are normal A1C results supposed to look like for someone on keto? My results were very low I’ve been keto for the the last four months now. But when I compare to last year when I was not keto, the results were also out of the normal range. I am anemic as well. Could that be the issue?

  • @Jeanne701
    @Jeanne701 5 років тому +5

    I wouldn’t do ANY sweetener. 10 years from now they’ll say that’s bad too. I don’t even do breath mints anymore unless I’m in a situation where it’s needed for sure, lol. I never was a desert eater so don’t care about making brownies with xylitol or any of that stuff.

    • @twdjt6245
      @twdjt6245 5 років тому

      I highly doubt the notion that they will say 10 years these will be bad for you too. The things that they end up saying are bad for you (sucralose, aspartame, etc) all have one thing in common: they are artificial sweeteners. All the ones the berg listed here are miles different in that they are natural sweeteners from regular plants. In their pure form with no added fillers, they are no less natural/processed than regular cane sugar in that respect, only difference is the glycemic index (and calorie content) compared to sugar from beets/ sugar cane, etc is way lower or nonexistent.

  • @pam5389
    @pam5389 5 років тому

    It doesn't bother my blood sugars. All the sugar substitutes you mentioned have strange aftertastes, and to me taste awful. What makes me gain weight is the insulin I'm injecting. But I do appreciate the information 😊. I wish it was better explained how the ones that taste like chemicals and react like chemicals are natural. I really just want to try to cut out all sugary things. I have a addiction to carbs and low carb desserts just trigger me anyways 😞. I use Splenda once a day in my coffee. But will try to cut it out all together. Thanks Dr.berg

    Why focus on sucralose (1,2% of the product) and not on Dextrose (95,8%) of the product (which is sugar in the blood).
