- Simgot created a hybrid IEM and attempted to match the Harmon 2019 target curve. How did they do?
As @asx1248 correctly pointed out 3 dB won’t be doubly loud for the average viewer. An increase of 3 dB represents a doubling of the sound pressure, an increase of about 10 dB is required before the sound subjectively appears to be twice as loud. When you reach my level of hearing their is no difference between sound pressure and loudness.

This video reminds me what UA-cam was back in 2007. Thanks for sharing your opinion on these and speaking your mind.
Just perfect. So entertaining 😂
I re-tune my em6l. I put a #450 grade filter on the nozzle. Brings the pinna gain down around 3db and slightly increases the bass. This is very close to my target. I re-tuned my ea500 too.
Very cool. They are good iems, just set to the H2019 target curve. Thanks
Another classic video
Thanks.
Never thought we'd be comparing IEM's to red wine. Very scientific. And it all makes perfect sense to me. LOL
Maybe I haven't read all the comments here, but let me ask, are there any eartip suggestions for the EM6L? If I may ask for 2-3 suggestions for eartips.
Thank You
After watching this video from CammyFi, I bought a set. A little pricey, but outstanding. ua-cam.com/video/fwED1MKTwaM/v-deo.htmlsi=__IHT4j-IhfztWU6
Looking for ear tips for those and it's hard to find, I'm actually using the large ones as they are not intrusive to the ear canal, only way to have a good seal... I tried Fiio HS18 13.8mm as exemple and it's too small, any suggestions ?
I have links in the description of this video for the ones I’ve fallen in love with. ua-cam.com/video/7_0XHviZfjs/v-deo.htmlsi=uEfBHTddhY4UQcpj
@@scientificaudiophile but did you try them on the EM6L ? They have 6 mm nozzles, the eartips you recommend are for 3 to 5 mm...
Good point. No, they don't fit. I actually use the ear tips I liked (don't love) from the TruthEar Reds. I'll see if Cammi will do a review of 6mm.
You should know, we who actually listen to IEMs a lot, we have a lot of different tips that make IEMs fit better. In this case, a taller tip is a better fit/option to your needs, you should look into that. I don't see shorter nozzle as a problem, that's easy. Also, a sticky silicon material that many tips have, will not fall out what ever you do, they're like glued in, stuck in there. You may wan't to look into that as well. Funny that you mentione Zero Red since it has one of the biggest nozzles in the world and doesn't fit into many peoples ears at all, actually. I own them and I'm lucky they fit me, but barely. I love their tuning, but with the 10 ohm adapter.
I got the OG, they fit like a charm in my ears, the most comfortable I ever had, but I prefer the soundstage of the EM6L. Unfortunately I can't find any eartips.
What do you do for eartips for the Red?
They slide perfectly into my ear with medium sized kbear07 eartips
Fit is what matters. Glad the medium kbears worked.
Hey did your lighting change
Camera was messed up and had a bunch of red, so I put a filter on it in editing to make it look a bit better. I’ve got to reset the camera back to original settings and go from there.
Is there a newer harman target that brings male vocals forward?
No, Harman is anti-male!
@@scientificaudiophile Damn. I feel like whoever is tuning these things only listens to KPop.
Can you please tell the best iem under 100$ ? Thanks mate
I've tried only a few iems compared to how many available. If you already have eartips you like, I'd go under $25 with 7Z Zero 2's. Otherwise I'd get Crinacle's TruthEar Reds.
I thought 3dB was a doubling of required power not doubling of sound. Isn’t 10dB a doubling of perceived sound?
Although an increase of 3 dB represents a doubling of the sound pressure, an increase of about 10 dB is required before the sound subjectively appears to be twice as loud.

So we’re both right.
When you’re hearing is as good as mine, you perceive sound pressure at a level of Zen.
Just gave you credit for your point in the video description. Thanks for pointing this out.
Is running in speakers or headphones really improving the sound? If so, what and how long should you play it?
I only run in headphones, and all my equipment, to keep audio freaks from complaining I didn’t do a review justice. I would say a headphone or IEM is fine in an hour, and some companies that properly test their equipment before shipping won’t need any runtime at all.
I do think running in speakers helps. The drivers are mechanical, after all, and I do think some loosening up and improved compliance and efficiency goes on. Whether they need more than a few hours is questionable.
So then also playing the "wrong" music in the first hours can't harm it?
@@tim-lennart3445 They say Rap can cause single driver audiophile speakers to explode. Or is it implode ? One or the other.
@jimfarrell4635 is correct. RAP, some disco, and Enya can cause speakers to implode and explode - REGARDLESS if it is done during or after the break-in period.
So it's superior to my EA500LM?
Yes
I use SIMGOT EM6L and I am very satisfied. It is a great pleasure to listen to music with him. I can easily understand the location of the players while playing the game. I want to upgrade to a higher model. What do you recommend I buy? I have a budget of $400. I used Truthear Zero, but the sounds were too complicated, I didn't like it at all and returned it. I hope I was able to explain my taste in sound.
The Truthear Nova’s are fantastic for $149. Unfortunately to get better sound I’d have to move to $500 for the Moondrop Variations. Better still, would be the ThieAudio Hype 10.
It was a shock, when Michael Fremer posted a comparison video between his Caliburn turntable and the Technics SL1200G with A and B files we were to listen to and guess the turntable from.. And he posted piano music! The most pitch sensitive instrument there is when its allowed to ring out. I thought it was crazy that a 5000 dollar turntable like the 1200G had a clearly hearable unstable speed.. the notes were vibrating on and off pitch as if someone had put a Bigsby vibrato unit for guitar on that piano. Then when the A and B files were exposed i found out it was the Caliburn a 150 000 usd turntable being that unstable. No wonder he changed his Caliburn for an even more expensive OMA turntable. But is it any better? How can Michael know? What kind of an audio guy is Fremer when he cant even hear a such a fundamental thing as pitch instability on long drawn out piano notes? Does he know how to tune that guitar of his that he shows off at times?
There is something to be said for mass production, or in the case of turntables, higher production numbers. A company like Technics doesn’t just have more production, but an insane amount of engineering history. I don’t think high end turntable manufacturers can compete with the Technics and Regas of the world.
The deep red wine Josh baby lol
With foamtips these are top 2 or 3 of the world.
But theres one New headphone that surprised me, the CCA trio. Yes, a CCA headphone might be my top 2 in the world.
CCA Trio
Switchess: 1101
Foamtips.
With this configuración it sounds very similar, even slightly better than the em6l foamtips. Thats crazy for $37!
Its an under $40 engame IMO.
600 hours of Diane Bish... Those are rookie numbers 😊

Okay, mr. science, but although an increase of 3 dB represents a doubling of the sound pressure, an increase of about 10 dB is required before the sound subjectively appears to be twice as loud. The smallest change we can hear is about 3 dB. The subjective or perceived loudness of a sound is determined by several complex factors. You should know this.

I really hate how the clear qdc c cables have clear letters on a clear plastic background. That being said, the design is superior.
Ye
IEM better described as an Initialism rather than an acronym. Acronyms spell a pronounceable word such as NASA. PTSD would be an initialism.
Hang on. 3db is double the power. 10db is double the apparent loudness.
It’s in the description of the video.
They look like 1970's ankle boots, they do.
And no bag to carry the carry case, shocking
"HARMAN"
"No partners" you're already sold budd
Funny that you mentione male vocals sound significantly higher that female vocals, because objectively that's not the case at all. And you should know this, looking at the graph alone. These have more lower mids than neutral, which is obvious when you get them to fit right. I believe it's more a fit problem, which you mentioned, you'll lose the bass when you don't get them to fit well using wrong tips. Just makes sense. Unless you mean higher female vocals in the treble range, that's fair, EM6L is a bit brighter, airier IEM with huge treble extension. That can be also fixed with different tips, or at least I did.
Hey Kris Winestein, "Don't have a partner and never will." Really? Then why the wedding ring? Are you too ashamed to say you are married Jessica Alba? I want some answers because she keeps texting me wanting to know my favorite IEM.
The wedding ring is a ruse used to ward off people so I can be alone. Good catch. It's clear if you noticed it it's working.

More like Kris Einstein: the smartest smartypants in audio
? Mi what.
The red has a better tuning . Simgot better lower frequency. The red sound too thin in the drums area. Very far from reality. Personally this 2 sets I don't like it.
Thanks for sharing!
The audio in this your video sounds bad to me. Too much of the room resonances are conveyed.
True. Mic has been changed since.
Good review except for the Alba/Anniston crack. Pretend you have female viewers.
Pretend is right!
Maybe female viewers have a sense of humor too?
